  1. Cheers I'd read the card at least 3 times, and still hadn't got that right. Range 14 is pretty good. Sometimes. and if they are nearer than 11" you'll be ready for their charge.
  2. Lucius 2 Guild hounds Ryle Guard Captain Drill sergent 2 Guild guard Austringer If you win initiative, you can do a mini alpha strike. Companion Lucius with the 2 hounds. Move Lucius up 10 Inches and re-enforce the dog onto the treasure counter. (If you aren't close enough Lucius can issue command to move him nearer). Dog collects counter and brings it back 10". Guild Guard can cordon areas off to help protect areas. I link the drill sergent to Ryle to improve his melee, and give me some control over his free push. The Guild guard, austringer and Captain can all also be included in the activation if you need. I would consider bodyguard and Hold out as schemes. Turn two against Leveticus I would aggressively hunt the waifs down. Lucius with reenforcements and the Austringer mean that it is hard to hide them. Against the Viks, I would try and keep them at range as much as possible, trying to pick off one of the Viks to prevent movement tricks. Holding slower crew back on turn one, to allow them to be re-enforced on later turns can be useful.
  3. Most of the Martello towers I know were built along the south coast of England to prevent an easy landing by Napoleon. They were mainly constructed based on landing areas rather than towns. The Tower typically would be manned by a force of 20 men and 1 officer. I think they normally had an artillary gun mounted on the roof but that was location dependant. I know some where built in other parts of the world where they might have actually been used in combat, but to the best of my knowledge the 70+ built in England where never actually used in combat. (although I think some might have been used as target practise during the second world war) In terms of the tower, the basement was used as food and munitions stores with internal access to the higher levels. The two tunnelling models in Malifaux would be able to dig under the walls of the tower and assault up the internal stairs. They are both much better at tunnelling than anything was during the similar era in our world, so the threat of foes from below was not something the tower needed to consider. The current rules match this. But by all means feel free to declare areas of ground "immune to Tunnelling". I imagine enough hardcore and cement would make it at least a timely thing to break. You might want to give it a hardness to allow the models to try and break through.
  4. Stand and fire must be active to use it, but is does come with an end time of either when you shoot or when you activate the model next, meaning you can activate it in one turn, and then it can be used the following turn before they activate. So I imagine you'll see a lot of one turn move, move, Stand and fire. Wait until the end of the next turn before activating and then do combined arms. They have a nice range of three specific uses which tie up well. Standard shooting at Cb 8 is pretty good. 3 shoots at CB 5 is not a bad thing, even if you've having to companion at least two for it or an out of sequence Cb5 shot when something charges one of your friends as well as yoour normal activation.
  5. As Ratty has already said Page 42 (Twisting fates I assume).
  6. Ramos has a special rule that allows him to hire more than 2 MS&U Assets. Those are the arcanist special forces. He doesn't have a rule that allows him to hire MS&U members. There is a difference between the two.
  7. Thank you. I'll feed back the comments to our cameraman. The lack of moments came to me after we'd filmed it. Some turns a lot happens and our end of turn summery doesn't always explain it fully. Our Editor isn't a malifaux player unfortunatly, so filming a whole game and then editing down might be too much for him. But we are looking into this... I'd imagine we will add to it soon (if only because Joe isn't that used to losing, especially now its on film and public...). I was thinking we might fix the scenarios a bit for it, as one thing we noticed is as it turned out, it was a big mash up in the middle of the table, with little use of the terrain we'd built. (Although the balconies out the front of the pub caused Snowstorm no end of trouble sice he doesn't fit under them). Phil
  8. Ramos has no rules that allow him to hire any model that isn't Arcanist. maybe he's not that good a leader. Afterall he can be in 3 different faction lists (at brawl level). Only the Viks get more than that
  9. At least 2 avatars can have still have a connected totem, so they can use magical extension...
  10. Just to say When Pandora casts a spell she wins a casting duel, not a willpower duel, The sorrow loses a willpower duel as it has used its willpower stat, but Pandora did not win a willpower duel.
  11. I would think the Kaeris box should be fine for demo purposes. From memory its under 25 stones, but should be ok for demoing. It has only 3 types of figure, which helps, and can do a range of melee, combat and magic. My personal favorite demo box is the Justice box. This would do well against both 'Tina and Kaeris.
  12. Hello We've started playing with Video cameras at our local club, and so here is our first Malifaux Video battle report. I'm not sure that the we've quite got the best format for malifaux video reports, it worked better for the warhammer and 40K reports we'd previously done, so comments on improvements will be greatfully recieved. Battle of 35 soulstone Arcanists drew supply wagon and Guild drew Treasure hunt. Enjoy
  13. The bodyguard scheme is for masters or henchmen only. So you can't target the Golem with it. I enjoy using him with Snowstorm, but for 20pts, thats a huge investment, and one I can't justify under 40 soulstone. Mind you, I normally need at least 35ss to bring along Snowstorm.
  14. As a starting group that does look pretty good. As you say good melee in Johan (have him stick with a miner for the Cb Boost) good shooting with the gunsmiths and Kaeris, and a reasonable kill piece with Kaeris' spells. I'm personallly not a fan of the Fire Gamin, but since they are in the box, its worth having some. I've only just got my Union miners, but they seem to be well worth having. I would drop a gamin for a miner almost every time. At the moment that gives you all but 3 of Kaeris' options (Large Arachnid, Soulstone miner and Joss). I'd be tempted to get Joss first from those three, but largely as it gives Johan a choice of MS&U members to team up with. Phil
  15. Any Arcanist master can do well on any stratergy, but they have more reliance upon their crew than a lot of other masters. People like Ramos and Rasputina will never be the model interacting in your opponents deployment zone as they just aren't going to get there, but if you know you are planting evidence then you need to pick crew correspondingly. Crew selection is a very important skill in this game, and I think Arcanists are the faction that uses this skill the most.

    Snow Storm

He has no use for it. I personally think it is there to help with Rasputina's avatar, and to help him against ressurectionists where he can hold onto the counters stopping them being avaible to them.
  17. Lucius can lead fairly well. He is restricted to Guild Guard, Austringers, Ryle, Lawyer, Guard Captain, guild hounds, the warden and a totem at the moment. This is quite a well spread list for a henchman allowing a lot of different builds and styles. Lucius is a good support, but you typically need a workhorse for him to support, as his turn is typically issuing commands. Ryle and the austyringers do this well for range and Ryle and the guard captain do it well in Close combat.
  18. I would agree with Saint Norton, You can not hire the Desperate Mercs as a mercenary, but they can still be hired by entrall. I would imagine that this is one of the instances that the Crew creator logic engine can't quite cope with the intricacies of Malifaux.
  19. That looks like a reasonable list I tried Rasputina Kaeris Student of Conflict Snowstorm Gunsmith Desperate Merc The crew worked pretty well considering. I was playing supply wagon Vs a Guild treasure hunt. I had most of the crew get to the middle of the board on turn 1, and pegged the guild back. They never got close to the Treasure, and in the end I was able to kill them all, allowing me to stop their hold out as well. I really like the mobility you can give an Ice golem with Snowstorm, the potential for it to activate 14" outside its deployment on Turn 1 really makes up for its movement 3. I've rarely managed to get Rasputina even close to Avataring up, she seems to get killed a little easily before I have a chance, but she has typically gone out in a blaze of death.
  20. Sorry, I don't think there is any way for him to gain instinctual, so the only way to get 2 0 actions is for the first to be re-activate. Fast and melee expert are the only two I think he can gain
  21. After you have killed and paralysed the stiched you can heal them up, gaining soulstone and making it much more likely that they won't get re-activate.
  22. Yes Sort of. The resist duel does not occur until you have paid all the costs. You might chose not to pay the costs after seeing your flip, and then there is no resist duel to make as the spell is not cast
  23. I would argue that the reactivation if required also occurs immedeatly. The spell is only cast on enemy models. And You control the activation of the model. If the spell just allowed you to control the model next time it activates then who controls it until then? and whose activation sequence does it go in? I know that the wording isn't explicit but the simplest solution is that the reactivation occurs now, just as the activation would if it hadn't already activated. (prehaps it should be changed to saying "the model activates immedeatly, recieveing reactivate if it has already activated")
  24. Yes you can summon a new Ikiru if the old one is buried. If the old one becomes unburied for some reason befopre the new one is dead, then the old one just disappears. But if the new one has died, then the old one can come back. They claify it with regards to the Viktorias and pine box,
  25. Something I spotted when using snowstorm this week was that you can pull enemy models into base contact. It does cost both 0 actions to give them frozen heart and then cast his spell, but it is unresistable. A handy way to make sure he has targets for melee, or to pull them off more fragile models. Its only 4 inch range, but it is another trick.
