  1. @ Avatarform: Pretty much all my greenstuff work has a copper armature or is atop solid plastic/pewter. On Rasputina, I wanted it to be all twisty, so I didn't also lay down my customary thin layer of greenstuff prior to working on it. It helps hold additional layers, and sticks better for actual sculpting. For an example of that: This is a PCB that I made for a certain GW game. Because I needed more curls and such in the sculpt, the armature got a GS wrap.
  2. Mister Chuffy must be Farsi for "really freaking good at highlights". That is some really nice work, man. I look forward to seeing the whole crew finished.
  3. So, I thought Rasputina looks like she is casting something, or doing the "woop woop" dance thing. I prefer she not be dancing about the battlefield, so I had to make it look like an action shot. Here are the results so far; Similarly, the Ice Golem was too static for my tastes, so I hacked him all to bits, and reposed him. I have the legs and hips done to my liking, and the green stuff is still setting on his shoulders and elbow (which is why they are not yet carved up). More coming soon.
  4. That is some lovely terrain. I'll be drawing some inspiration from it for sure!
  5. And keep in mind that Wyrd minis are tougher to paint than the GW ones; they don't have all those easy-to-use high lines. Anyhow, the critique. Good early effort. I like that you matched your sorrows with their crew, and I like the effect you tried for with Pandora. As the above poster, I haven't yet gotten the courage to start messing up light sourcing, and think its a great effect when properly applied. Keep practicing! After thinning your paints down, the next thing to learn to use is washes. You can go from decent to freakin' nice in about 10 minutes with a well applied wash. The line from GW is a solid, easy to use, versatile set (get a set going, Wyrd, so we can give you our money for paints, too!). As I said man, great early effort. You have a fully painted crew (which not everyone does)!
  6. Indeed. You've done a good job with your first several models! Two things to focus on first as you start developing your painting more is to learn to thin your paints down as you use them (this will get you a nicer, smoother coverage), and learn to use those thinned paints to blend together for highlights. A little bit of the above goes a LONG way to making nice models look GREAT.
  7. I think that purplish tint works so well BECAUSE of the bluish metal that you used. Very well done!
  8. That Doppleganger is superb! Consider the idea respectfully copied!
  9. I approve, but you have to make sure that his girls are appropriately dressed as well (Harley, anyone?).
  10. Wonderful! Thank you for the quick reply. As a followup on the Soulstone-to-add-to-a-duel, can that additional card then be cheated (for extra bastardry)?
  11. So, I love the game so far. However, there are some rulesets which seem tucked out of the way, or broken up across several areas in the book. One of these things are Soulstones (in-game use). I've seen mention of their various uses in various parts of the book, but no one place where you can go to get ALL the uses of them. Do I have all of them, and all of them correct? To Re-flip Initiative (from deck, not hand) To add to any non-initiative flip (including flips, add from hand or deck or either?) As a (1) action for a Soulstone User to get a Healing Flip As a reaction for a soulstone user to get a prevention flip before damage is applied as wounds. As detailed on various cards for respective abilities. Thanks in Advance! -Mal
  12. Those look very nice! If I can make a suggestion on the base with the tall grass; If you "open" up the tall grass a bit, it will look nicer. As it stands, the bundle is very tight and looks somewhat unnatural.
  13. Just got Pandora done last night. I may do some small touchups later, but I'm quite happy with the results. One sorrow and the babies to go!
  14. I like the stationary unless no enemy can see it, giving it a (0) (CC:12) ability to move ~12", and then having something like (1) Murder of Crows (CC:10-13, R: 8"); The scarecrow can place three markers touching one another within range. Crows burst forth from the ground, blocking line of sight in and through. Additionally, any models touched by the receive a (-Wp) until the End of Combat phase, and take damage with :-fate. Then, give him two auras, both (1); (1) A Fell Wind; (CC: 14/ Rst: Wp/Rg: 8") A wicked wind cuts across the field, chilling those near the scarecrow to the bone. Make a single Cackle melee attack against each Non-Neverborn model in range. (or some such) with a :masks :masks boost for a or some such. (1) Abandon Hope; (CC:12/Rst: Wp/Rg: 8") The Scarecrow exudes an area of unholy quiet. Those near this monstrosity are wracked with nervousness and doubt. All enemy models within range receive a on all Wp duels unil the End of Combat Phase. Some limp attacks; Cackle :1 Cb: 4 Dmg 1/2/4 Coupled with Terrfying -> 12 I think he would wind up all right.
  15. I'd go Ice Blue, and mix progressively greater amounts into the turquoise to do each layer of highlighting. I find that blending up with white makes colors far too pastel and bright.
  16. I'll second the good contrast on Lady J. Very striking.
  17. Those are some beautiful models, and some tremendous freehand! I'm hoping to do something similar to what you've done on the Ronin with my Pandora.
  18. So, I just got my first crew this week (Pandora), and have been mulling over a paint scheme. I want to do a cream and red with purple for all box-related-badness. This is the first sorrow that I completed the other day. The second one has some smoother highlights, but isn't done yet.
