  1. An excellent point and frankly, the story of my life!
  2. I was able to pin the paw. I am not saying its the only solution or even the best solution, but it can be done and it looks just fine.
  3. HAHAHA, I like your sense of humor! *grin*
  4. Thank you all for your kind words. I was hoping to build a nice looking board that was fun to play on, and generally it sounds like I hit the mark. I humbly thought it turned out rather well. Its gratifying to have other people agree. Now, its back to painting models after building terrain for the past 4 months!
  5. The only thing I remember is that Andy Weakland defeated Dixon to win the Avatar for the second year in a row. He won the last game with Gremlins. I know Nilus is working on posting up the results.
  6. Thank you all so much for your comments. (Except you, Dan. Fired before I even start?!) I've never done anything like this before and I wanted to prove to myself that I could do it. Having people enjoy it is just icing on the cake. I think there is an art to making a nice board. You want to make it awe inspiring and visually interesting. But you have to remember that its for playing on, so you can't go overboard. The trick is finding that fine line between the two. I think I've done a pretty good job of that, if I do say so myself. It may not seem like there is a lot of cover, but the crypts take up some space. Its not overly obvious from the photos but there is wooded cover built in as delineated by different colored flock. There are some significant wooded areas to deal with. And you can play the head stones as either soft cover or even hard cover, which frankly makes this board not very range friendly, imho, though there are also multiple sight lines and open areas (roads, center) for ranged units. The head stones are arranged so that 30mm units can pretty freely move around, but larger units will have to take path areas or suffer movement penalties. It will take some planning to get a larger unit to where you want it. It occurred to me as I was setting the location of the stones that it was becoming an outdoor "indoor" board because there are defined corridors and some significant movement restraints. The thing that really doesn't come out as well in the photos is the change of elevation and I think it makes the board particularly interesting. There is actually about a 4" rise from the center to the highest corner, and at least a 2" rise to each table edge. Once again, thanks for your comments and I look forward to seeing fellow attendees very soon!
  7. My adventure to Adepticon is less than 24 hours away, so I thought I'd show off my main board I'am bringing. I started this right after the holidays and have been working on it pretty consistently since. I am hoping people enjoy playing on it.
  8. I am about 3 hours away and plan to roll in before noon, Thursday. This is my first Adepticon, so I am pretty excited.
  9. So this would've been...what? Gencon 2008?
  10. Thanks Nathan! Thats exactly the history I was looking for.
  11. This is currently posted up on ebay. Malifaux: Wargroup: Seamus and the Rotten Belles Does anyone know anything about this? Is this an early box set prototype? Or is it a fake box set that someone has come up with? The box set name is wrong as we currently know it, of course. Wyrd uses 'Crews' now and not 'Wargroups'. You can always tell when someone knows nothing about Malifaux when they are trying to sell a Malifaux 'Warband' or 'Wargroup'. On the other hand, who is to say that Wyrd didn't call them that in the early stages of of the game? The box art has a Wyrd feel to it. But then again, with the available fonts and artwork, I could come up with the same thing in an hour. It's obvious that the box label is a wrap around, but it also shows much wear, like its been around for a long while. Finally, I don't see and there is no mention of any cards. Which really doesn't speak to its authenticity at all, I guess. As a collector I'd be interested in those crew boxes if they are authentic. Can anyone educate me? Thanks!
  12. I like the Armorcast cemetery items. Such as: THIS
  13. I think you might be out of luck. I checked the store and didn't see them. Other than the store, I am not sure there is an option. You might try contacting Wyrd and see if they can work something out.
  14. That's awesome! This is why I love Wyrd. Thanks for reporting back.
  15. I'd take a second Guardian as opposed to a second Hunter. I've used two Guardians many times, but have never felt the Hunter was worth having even one. I second at least 4 Guild Hounds. I also second the Mobile Toolkit. Great synergy with Hoffman. A second Watcher never hurts. At the risk of sounding repetitive I second the Wardens as well. I am just starting to use Wardens and I am finding them to be a great utility model. I am pretty sure he is from Book 3.
  16. I'll be there, helping out where ever I can. Will be bringing some terrain as well, so I am currently working on it feverishly so that players find it enjoyable to play on. Also hope to get some Gas Light games in. Since I am Henching this time around I thought I'd skip the organized play events and leave those slots open for others. I am really, really looking forward to having a great time this year!
  17. Wow! Embroidery on her pant leg is amazing!
  18. I don't totally agree that the shot will fizzle and that it would be a wasted AP. Its true that the direct damage and effects of the shot won't be applied to the model. But in my opinion there will still be a 50mm marker placed and those models that are touched by it would have to do the Df->13 dual or receive slow, despite the Guild Hound being the original target. 1. McCabe's Hound: This model and friendly Guild Hounds in play ignore any damage and effects caused by McCabe's Net Gun Weapon. 2. Net Gun: Dg 1+Slow/2+Slow/2+Paralysed. If target is hit by this Weapon, before resolving damage place a 50mm round marker touching target. All other models touched by the [syc] must win a Df->13 Dual or receive Slow. So, despite being immune to its effects, a Guild Hound is still a Legal Target of the Net Gun. RM pg14. After a successful Net Gun strike on the Guild Hound, a marker is placed and all those models touched must win the simple dual or receive slow. Then under the 'Apply Duel Results' of the Strike Attack Sequence, effects and damage from the dual are placed on the Guild Hound. RM pg43. The Guild Hound then ignores these with the McCabe's Hound ability. I would also argue that the 50mm marker is an effect of the Net Gun and thus other Guild Hounds hit by this marker ignore the simple dual for slow as well.
  19. 1. Since Luna grants Net Gun immunity to other hounds, I can't imagine that it persists after she is removed from the game. I can't point to a good rules citation for this, however. Perhaps in the definition of Abilities? 2. Yes, only Guild Guard. The card explicitly limits to these specific models.
  20. Bah! I never let little things like "rules" and "facts" get in my way. *grin* (Nice catch)
  21. I think I'd rather replace the Guild Guard with a Witchling Stalker instead of another Warden for defense. Same number Wds and Df, but you gain better to-hit and better damage profile on both melee and ranged. Also get some magic resist. Doesn't have armor or ITI that Warden has, but its one stone cheaper too. I think its important to remember though, I'd only trust both these defense models against a minion up to 6-7 stones or so. Any stronger and it'd still tear up your rifleman before your defensive models could take it out. Something else I've thought about is the Guard's Cordon. It seems custom made to use with Rifleman. If you have the card to set that up between the Guard and the Captain in front of the Rifleman, that would be worth trying. Downside is that it does nothing against flying or floating and it takes initiative and an 8:rams or higher to get off. Thats a lot of ifs, but something worth looking at.
  22. My first impression is that its too shooty. But I wouldn't be able to say for sure until I tried it out. So much of a ranged crews effectiveness is based upon the terrain. Riflemen could really rock one board, and then just be a waste of points in another. Once someone gets up in their grill, they're toast with their Df of 4 and 5 wounds, unless you have a good counter punch. I had a line of 3 rifleman that were all killed in one activation of a Mature Nephilim last week. The Wardens might be that counter punch, but I assumed you wanted them down-board, achieving objections with their speed. Though a bit card dependent, Wardens would be good for that. Add in Lucius's Reinforcements, and you have some decent speed. Anyway, I guess my thoughts are this crew will really hinge on whether the Rifleman can gets shots off as the opposing crew terrain hops from cover to cover and up into their face.
  23. I need to get a few more games with McCabe under my belt to see how this works, but from the cards there is a synergy with McCabe and Guild Hounds. Luna grants all friendly Guild hounds in the game immunity from McCabe's Netgun. Companion McCabe and the hounds. Move Luna to within 10" of an enemy or two. Magical Extension Braying of the Hounds to reduce WP and DF by 2. Charge a couple of dogs in and make some bite attacks. McCabe activates and shoots one of the dogs with the netgun. Cheat down the Df so it hits. The marker is placed, giving slow if they fail a Df->13 (with -2Df). Follow up with one or two casts of "Stunner" to change slow to Paralyzed. Like I said, I want to see it work a couple of times. With the -2 Df it actually might be better just to target an enemy model instead of a hound with the Net Gun in order to get the damage on top of the slow, as well, with the chance of a paralyze in the bargain. ---------- Post added at 09:36 AM ---------- Previous post was at 09:31 AM ---------- Ah! (I'll just have a conversation with myself here). The advantage to the hound is that it'll let you force the simple duel for slow on the enemy models in the event you have a low hand. You're almost guaranteed to hit a dog if you have some low cards. You can then save the high cards (if you have them) for Stunner. ---------- Post added at 09:46 AM ---------- Previous post was at 09:36 AM ---------- Also, with Sidir, if he is positioned correctly, he can shoot into the melee. If he happens to shoot one of the dogs, he can cheat to miss or, with the :rams trigger, can do a minimum 2dmg to the dog and then trigger punch through to immediately make another attack on the (presumed) enemy model on the other side of the dog. Add in a Warden for even more slow goodness and targets for Stunner.
