  1. Good stuff! Can't wait to slaughter them all
  2. :datsueba "It's because you don't know how to play me well."
  3. Remember, Chompy DOES have a rule that makes him ignore Pitiful, and the Watcher has an ability that cancels the target's pitiful for the turn
  4. This is me, Zee, providing support to the UK Henchmen. I am more interested in seeing the results before instituting it as an official policy. If it is officially Wyrd backing the ranking system, I will say that in big bold official letters. As of right now, we're in the watch and see it grow stage. Nothing gets official before being tested thoroughly.
  5. Let me pop in here for a sec: A lot of the sentiments in this thread have been really heated, and I really want to stress what this thread is about: Playing Malifaux and having fun. Both sides are arguing for this same point, and there seems to be some crossed wires as to why people aren't seeing both sides. The fact that there are some numbers at the end of it shouldn't really alter the fact that you are playing Malifaux. And yes, I know and said this before, and even some of the people anti-rankings agreed that this is not going to be the case because not everyone is like that. In any type of competition or game we play, there is a winner. And that some people will ONLY play to win. That happens right now, even without a ranking system. If I go to a local tourney, I am going to play the same whether there are 8 people or 20 people. I will play to have fun, because Malifaux is a lot of fun! Every aspect of this game is driven by the interactions with character and story, even in tourneys. So now, someone wants to tally who won and it is a different game? I do not buy that argument. You can say that you will be a harder opponent, and I don't see the issue. If you are a player of the caliber that can adjust your difficulty level, I cannot believe that there aren't games right now that you bring your A-game. Furthermore, it's not about railroading the player-base into this without thought. A local tournament will usually attract the same player base - the locals from the area and the few that travel from place to place. Why go to a tournament? It is definitely going to be more competitive than the regular gaming night, where people are playing to have fun, but also see who wins in a clash of skills. This is something I see as staying the same. If you say that you will not play in a ranked-tourney, I see that as a choice being made without weighing what actually happens at these tourneys. Do you currently see nothing but [as mentioned earlier] Pandora and Hamelin? I doubt that. Sure, some will play them, but they already do. Give the system a chance; as MythicFox said earlier, if the rankings seem to become detrimental to the game, it will be something that goes away. ASAP. The funny thing is that this was not something that the company was trying to organize; the Henchmen were trying to make the UK competitive arena more interesting for the player base.
  6. I have candy in my va- tournament, young boy.
  7. Good post sir. Good summation of thoughts, and pretty valid points.
  8. Tell your friends to vary schemes a little! Playing with/against the same thing becomes less exciting, and mention that. If they refuse, then, well, I don't know what to tell you.
  9. See, I don't understand this sentiment. The point of the game is to have fun. Winning is just a side-effect of playing a fun game well. If you are taking the game too seriously, you need to reconsider the fact that it is still just a game. I like the idea of a Rankings system. It shouldn't change the current tournaments in any way, shape, or form. The fact that someone is tracking the numbers at the end of the whole event shouldn't change how or why you play the event. Sure, some people take the game more seriously. That is true, and it's not a bad thing. But to change your attitude and playstyle simply because it is ranked? I don't see it, especially since there's not really anything except bragging rights at the end of the line.
  10. This is after picking sides, but before deploying models. Pg. 73: Before deploying Crews, players should place any additional blah blah blah blah area.
  11. And as always, if you receive anything broken from us, just email me at Zee@Wyrd-games.net
  12. Ok. 2 things. 1. Override Edict says: Activate target Construct after this model's activation ends. You don't need linked in, it goes next regardless. It even gets to Reactivate if it has already activate. 2. Linked In allows a friendly Construct to activate right after this one's ends. SO: If you Override Edict something, it effectively gains Linked In. If it had already activated, it also gains Reactivate and gets to go right away. You do not have to Linked In to it.
  13. Simple Duels are where a number must be met. Opposed Duels are where 2 stats are used. In Pandora's case, a model attempting to attack her must tie or beat her total, which can be changed as is normal for an Opposed Duel. [Aka, both flip initial, loser cheats first, then the other player.]

  15. Here's how to look at this: A Rotten Belle casts Undress at a target. That model receives -2 Df until the Start Closing Phase. This means, any further attempts to Undress the model will have no further effect on the target, as it has the effect: Undress. Bete gains different effects from her spell, as was stated by the RMs earlier. One gets Sever Spine, one gets Groin Strike, the 2 can co-exist.
  16. While the current issue is resolved, just wanted to point out that this is incorrect. The executioner doesn't trigger on death, it triggers on remove from play after killed. So the Shatter would happen first. Zee
  17. Step 1: Executioner kills Electrical Creation. Step 2: Electrical Creation activates Unstable, generating its pulse and doing 2 Dg, enough to kill the Executioner. Step 3: Executioner activates Slow to Die as a response to being killed. Nothing to kill, dies. Executioner is removed from play. Step 4: Now that Unstable is resolved, Electrical Creation is removed from play. Step 5: Love the Job cannot activate, because there is no Executioner left to heal. And that's an official Ruling.
  18. No, because Protected by Machines says that it does not stack with other Armor. So, you can have Armor +2 from Assimilate, and then Stalwart for another +2 OR you can have Shield Wall for another +4. That's as far as you can go with that. You can have +6, but from Protected by Machines.
  19. ...IF it is in melee. Read the whole sentence
  20. You can email me: Zee@wyrd-games.net
  21. You've said too much! We're doomed!
