  1. That's looking pretty cool, i'll be interested to see the progress on it.
  2. Normally I just use a small miniatures case with eggshell foam that I bought from a company called Figures in Comfort. However for my newly acquired Ramos gang, I think I'm going to have to have a different arrangement.
  3. Regarding sourcing things in the UK, I shall admit I picked up a bottle of Pinesol while I was on holiday in America and it works really well, though as stated you can't get it here. I think one of my friends has tried Fairy power spray and he says that works pretty good as well. I've also heard that sainsburys own brand pine cleaner works very good, though one of my other friends disagrees. I'll check on the fairy power spray and confirm before people rush out and buy it.
  4. That's looking pretty good so it is. Are you going to leave it like that or put it on a base as well?
  5. I must admit I've never run one, but it could be the same as other people run tournaments where you turn up with a couple of lists and before the game starts you decide what list you're using. Could maybe just do it as the two lists or whatever must be from the same faction.
  6. Actually since as you say it should use cards, which it probably should, it would work really well with Deadlands, either edition as it uses cards. Deadlands is getting close to Malifaux, basically think weird west, so cowboys, hucksters who sling spells, mad steam science and demons. Don't know much about the new savage worlds ones ( I have the SW rules but not the deadlands book) but in the previous edition you dealt a poker hand to resolve a test, and had to make the best hand possible. So yeah to answer the original quesiton, if I had to use a ruleset it would probably be the Savage world rules with the deadlands expansion as that would probably cover pretty much a good chunk of what's in Malifaux apart from the being on a different planet bit. That comes later in Deadlands.
  7. I think people do use O scale stuff though. I think depending on what it is it may not be massive, though I can't say for sure. Obviously since I can't get my scales right I just shouldn't be trusted in this thread.
  8. Good to know i've managed to get my scales mixed up again. Yay.
  9. I'm pretty sure the HO scale stuff is closer to Malifaux figs scale wise.
  10. I must admit I've never washed a model for however long I've been gaming now (a good while anyway) and I've not had problems. Don't know if it's just me or what.
  11. I'd really have to agree with pretty much everything said above. Really many brands are dependant on your particular painting style you adopt so for a while I'd maybe go with one of the brands like GW, reaper, Vallejo whatever that is most available and cheapest until you can find what you like then you can start mixing it up. I use GW, P3 and Vallejo GC and MC with the odd bit of reaper paints as well. Another idea might be to go into the GW and ask about a painting lesson, as I believe they do lessons for basics things and then at other times may have painting nights where they teach certain principles. Also if you have a local games club/group of mates whom you game with then show them the fig and ask their advice. At my club we're always showing our figs to each other and asking each other for advice on how to do certain techniques etc. Best thing as said by Ork56 above is simply to get a model, clean it up, prime it and have a go. Don't be intimidated as I can tell you that I was a pretty rubbish painter when I first tried but I've slowly gotten better. Not fantastic by any stretch but i'm better at least. And if it does all go horribly wrong, or in a few years you're not happy and think you can do better the figure can be stripped with whatever solvent and you can try again.
  12. Indeed i'm glad there are plans for an expansion, and hopefully all these players is making it worthwhile for them to do so. As to mini's yes I would like to see the range at least near completion before an expansion is released. Can't wait to see who becomes the upgraded masters and what they'll be able to do, along with hopefully lots new steam creations for my recently acquired Ramos set and lots of new guild stuff since I pretty much have everything for them.
  13. @DB The spider base is the one I was worried about, I still need to do Ramos's base. Was thinking probably just cobblestones the same as on the spider base. And true we can. Makes a change as normally it's me. As to whether I use them next week depends on whether I get my Steamborg built and my missing arachnid swarm. @GL Thanks for the comments. Yeah used a few washes on these guys, all of the new GW ones which I think are really good, only time I ever break out the old ones I have is when I require them to dry shiny. Think Ramos got a wash from about half the pack of colours that come in the box set on various parts depending on what I was doing. And i'll apologise for my rubbish photos. They have a good bit of shine on them due to the lamps. Don't really have space for a proper light box as I paint in the spare room/geek cave so normally it's just light with some lamps and then take photos.
  14. It's still a very good job though, even if you're not claiming originality. I don't know if it's all varnished and what not, but i'd maybe do something to make the cog a bit more distinct, as it took a wee bit of looking around to find it, though that could just be me, or possibly just the position, it might stick right out in real life.
  15. They look good, I like the lighter effect on the coffins, contrasts well with the darker brown coats on the marshals. I like the fig you're using for Hans as well, sure I've seen it before though.
  16. They look good so they do, i'd have to agree with the others in saying you've got nothing to be embarrassed about by showing these.
  17. That is indeed really good looking, the shading on the clothes and the bag plus the fact you're doing NMM make it better than anything I can do.
  18. They are very nice, the blood splatter and the shading in the nurses syringe are especially good.
  19. Well it's been a while since I posted anything at all on the forums, and i've been busy painting other stuff. However finally got my hands on a Ramos box set and just thought I needed to paint him and his little spiders up, so here's the results As always comments and criticism are always welcome.
  20. In case it's been forgotten about or just lost I thought i'd post this link as I think the scenery could be pretty good for Malifaux http://rustyrail.com/index.html
  21. That's really nice, you've given me some ideas about when I finally get round to picking up Ramos myself.
  22. Those look really nice man, like what you did with Justice's hair, it's what I wanted to achieve, but it didn't quite end up that way. Only thing I'd say, and again this is personal preference is it maybe wash the metallics on the Judge, as they seem a bit bright to me. Almost forget, the denim effect on the judge is really very nice, I might have to try and copy it when I paint the Ortegas, once I get round to purchasing them.
  23. Very nice, like the colour scheme and the base is also very well done. The NMM is also a lot better than I could do even if it is rough, though from the photo it doesn't look so.
  24. That's really good so it is, the whole group are in fact. Just stop painting so quickly, you're making some of us (i.e. me) look bad.
  25. Hmmm hopefully my local store will be getting it in soon and I can pick up my copy.
