  1. That is not what I have heard referred to as an alpha strike. I thought that an alpha strike specifically referred to activating all of your models prior to any of your opponents, as Perdita is able to do through companion. I guess alpha strike has different meanings based on the master now.
  2. Ok, for the life of me, I can't see how Pandy can use incite/pacify to allow her crew to alpha strike. What am I missing here?
  3. Prior the errata, Som'er and crew were the best card drawing mechanism in the game. In fact, it was actually possible to draw your entire deck into your hand and then drop only the 13's and Red Joker back into your deck, ensuring that anything you did not only went off, but decimated your opponent. This of course resulted in the dramatic changes that have occurred. Unfortunately, with the debuffs already built into Som'er and crew, this severely weakened Gremlins in general. I fully expect that the Gremlins will see significant improvement in the next book, or they might actually see some additional errata (though I think this is less likely). However, that being said, the Voodoo Doll received a very nice piece of errata, namely giving Poison 2 to the conduited model every turn, which was a significant improvement for Zoraida and crew, so maybe additional errata is not completely out the window.
  4. It is not a big deal that I did not get one, I just was wondering what had happened. It is a good policy change though. I have never been able to figure out why certain companies compete with their dealers. Wyrd's limited size at the moment still makes keeping a webstore a good idea, but the limited mini thing would be difficult for dealers to swallow. The idea of points on the blisters would be a great idea. I used to play the A Game of Thrones card game when it originally came out and by collecting the points you could get some ultra cool stuff. Using this method to distribute alternate model sculpts, t-shirts, and even alternate fate decks or special corpse/scrap tokens would be great.
  5. Well, I just received my latest shipment of Malifaux goodness. I breached the $100 mark as usual, but this time I did not receive a Gremlinette. Is this model out of production now or did the minimum order to receive it go higher?
  6. This is exactly what I am going for. Thanks for the tips. I have been doing some testing on some scraps and the woodgrain is continuing to show through, so I am happy. Now I just have to get the color right. That last method is also pretty interesting, although, like I said, I am looking more for the greyish look mentioned above. Something like what? Thanks for all the contributions everyone.
  7. So, I have nearly completed my first scratch built building, but I am starting to wonder how I should paint it. I would like for the wood grain to still show through and for the wood to have a weathered, sunbleached look (i.e. a greyish). My first concern is that paint may eliminate the woodgrain. I tested paint on a scrap piece of wood, and it does not look to bad, but I am afraid that once I do some highlighting, I could lose the wood grain. Is there a better method of painting balsa? Would it be easier to simply use woodstain on the whole thing? My second problem is achieving the coloring I want. I realize that this will be impossible if I go with a stain, but if I can go with paint, I would think this would be possible. Any recommendations out there on how I could achieve the weathered, sunbleached look I am going for? Lastly, I have some cardstock that is molded to resemble sheets of corrugated tin, like on the side of a railcar. Would this look strange for the roof of a western style Malifaux buidling? I would think that tin roofs could be found, I just don't know if Malifaux's fluff would make it reasonable. All hints and thoughts appreciated!
  8. Well, after a long hiatus due to life and other gaming projects, I have had a chance to get back to Malifaux. I am currently making my first attempt at a scratch building, so tell me what you all think so far.
  9. So, I am having some trouble deciding how best to transport my crews. First off, I am a big fan of Sabol's Army Transport product line. However, their products are primarily designed for large forces, especially those with large models. Are there any other products out that people are using to transport their forces? Anything that is compact and easy to haul around?
  10. The problem is that the lower half of his body can easily be painted up to resemble stone. The display model even looks this way, and further added to the initial confusion. It probably would have been more identifiable if the bottom half had been painted up as vapor or mist.
  11. There was a lot of confusion about the Grave Spirit when it firsted showed up, and many people, including myself, thought it was the Crooked Man. I think it would make a fine proxy until the real model hits.
  12. Off topic, but I have to say I don't like the way the tournament you participated in was run. Forcing people to pick a list and then have a random objective every turn results in far too many unbalanced battles. I still believe that every person should flip for an objective they will use for each game and then have the opportunity to build their lists.
  13. Hurrah, drawing your deck into your hand is dead! That being said, the new errata does not address the mosquito's larva ability. Granted, without your deck in your hand, this is unlikely to do anything terrible, but it appears that the mosquito's can continue to move all over the board with this ability, make 3 attacks, and then return to safety. Rinse and repeat each turn. Just thought I would throw this out there. A quick fix would seem to be to say that the larva ability sacrifices a non-vermin friendly model. BTW Eric, the errata addressing Survival of the Fittest say "One one model..." when I imagine it should say "Only one model..."
  14. I have to say, all of the Aracanist hate of late is really making me wonder if I should use them as a faction to demo, especially since my current plans are to use Cult of December vs the Ortegas.
