  1. Thanks for the compliments guys!
  2. So long time no post Wyrd forum! Recently over on the WAMP forum a fellow member challenged me to a painting duel where we'd each paint up a faction for Malifaux. I'd been eyeing up my Ortega Family set since long times. I think my purchase of them might even predate the release of the game. Anyway, here's my family. This post is also a little shameless whoring of myself as they're going on eBay soon and I'll post a link here. I feel smaller inside for debasing myself like this for cash but waddaya do? Here's the mini's...
  3. Just a quick question for anyone with experience selling Malifaux stuff on eBay, what categories do you list under? Currently I lump them in under the "other" wargame mini category but I am wondering if anyone had any other suggestions or success stories under a different heading. TY for any tips!
  4. Hey, thanks a lot guys! The base is defo a couple of hirst arts blocks. I bought a few from a dude pre-made so I couldn't tell you which set the mould is from. I didn't take many WIP Pictures but here's a few... Thanks again for the comments. I love painting Malifaux stuff, great character, and awesome boots! I have a lot more i need to get around to painting soon.
  5. Haven't posted in forever. I painted this for a challenge over on WAMP vs. The Bug King. This is the second time I painted this mini and I really like it. Here it is... And here's a CMON link for those so inclined... http://www.coolminiornot.com/271987 Thanks for looking guys!
  6. Cool, thanks man! It's a very, very fun mini to paint. Only reason I am selling it is the guy at the LGS ordered me a second one by mistake and I took it. I'm excited to paint it all over. I really think this is one of the finest mini's in the line, and I am a BIG fan of the line. Though I may have to paint Teddy next. That's one creepy ass mini! My wife actually pushed it away and cringed! Which she has NEVER done, even at some of the more twisted HellDorado demons. Appreciate the comment! I think I learned a lot on this one, and I hope to make my next one better.
  7. Hey, don't know if this is the appropriate section, or even if there is one here, but I am selling my Executioner. 'Cause I got another one to paint, woo-hoo! This is him.... He's on eBay. http://cgi.ebay.ca/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=270522797755 I haven't been aroud for a while, and I don't know if this poor etiquette posting here. If it is... ooop! Could a mod delete or move this. Thanks!
  8. Ordered mine and a bit of other stuff this AM. Also every card available, just in case I actually get to play a game! Thanks DL, and thanks Anders!
  9. Pete i got one of the hordesmen from Vern on WAMP. Even better IRL. Such awesome stuff. This dude is going to go far. Needs more exposure though. Wonder what the best way for that is? If you're in his shoes to you just throw some figs out to people and get the, painting? Dunno, but I am gonna put in an order after Christmas fo sho.
  10. Love it. I got the white speaker and can't wait for this guy. I actually like this dude more than the white speaker!
  11. When I used to live in Edmonton it was a blast going to home games. I love the game but I can't make time to watch it. It really is the best sport, and the athleticism involved is amazing. Being Canadian you grow up with two things in your blood at all times, beer and hockey. Magic is when the two of them get together. I mean, in what other sport can you punch a guy in the face for being a tool? Nothing better.
  12. That's a whole lot less then I paid for my MiG stuff. Hope they're decent quality!
  13. Testor's dullcote all the way for me! I do like to bullet coat them with a gloss coat first (I usually use armory gloss) then a couple shots fo dullcote.
  14. The wprst part was the sort of statement the CEO made regarding the intent of the Marvel brand. After all the succes with Hannah Montana and Jonas Brothers etc. capturing the 9-14 year old girl market they went after Marvel to do the same thing with the 9-14 year old boy market. Shame. Can't imagine that's good for the direction the movies and stuff were going. The licenses for movies like Magneto, Wolverine 2 (why?!?!?), Iron Man 2, Cap A, and Thor I think are already out there and won't be up to Disney to control. Not one mention about the actual comic industry itself. Guess theres no money left in the books anymore so they're not at all concerned with them yet.
  15. I'm pretty happy as well with the quality, though I still pin everything just in case. I DO think you should put pins in the steamborg. I can't imagine it travelling more than three feet, unless mine is an exception to the rule.
  16. Sorry to hear that. I tried your eBay link to see if I could help out but it didn't work for me. I'd love to pitch in for ya.
  17. I said some stuff over on WAMP, but what I forgot to say is how much I like the bases. Slick work.
  18. Well done! I am doing the same crew. I think it seems like EVERYONE is working on dead hookers and a Seamus at the moment. This has got to be one of the more popular crew's I bet.
  19. Thanks guys! Pete, bug all you like! This mini was painted pretty darn quickly. The only thing I really sunk effort into was the flesh. Nathan. Yes, I did like painting the bum. Was that wrong? Eric. I tried utilizing a little blue/red into the flesh. I wound up going over most of the red areas (My deepest shades) with an olive green as the skin looked more living and less dead hookerish. I used a lot of really dilute GW blue wash (whatever the hell it's called. No wait! It's "Asurmen Blue". Whatever the hell that means. Ah hell... I just remembered that Asurmen is a Tzeentch special character. Damnit GW! You really got into my head! I don't even wann know how I know that!) and kind of enjoyed the effect. It's not really visible in the pics as I did it in the middle of the process and lots of glazes and stuff went over it, plus plenty of ole' faithfull GW "Leviathan Purple" wash. Which is the name of a Tyranid hive fleet if I recall. Damnit GW! Get out of my HEAD! Anyway, thanks for your input on skin tones with a previous mini, my Guild Executioner (which I know NOTHING about..... probably 'cause my head is STILL too full of GW.) and your reccomendation of more colors. I will have to be more bold in their use but I did enjoy a little experimentation on this model. I got scads of hooker's 'n zombies to play with color on, so I hope to keep spamming this place with more work. Thanks for the comments everyone!
  20. Thinking about gencon one day. I really wanna go to the world mini expon in 2011 (It's in Switzerland.... THE most expensive place on the planet apparently) but GenCon would be a hoot.
  21. I'll sell you one. But get ready to pay MAD BANK!!!! This fig is gonna pay for my airfare to somewhere one day. Woot!
  22. Now that's some good lookin' figs!
  23. I got one! Can't wait to eBay this mini and retire off the fortunes!
  24. Well I thought I'd start up one of these threads too. I have no real clue WHAT faction I will actually play when the game is released, but I have about 95% of the mini's collected, so I am lucky enough to be able to pick and choose what I want to paint. But that also means I get distracted too easily from painting up a single cohesive table force! Anyway, I liked the dead hookers so I painted up the boss chick lady. Nothin' fancy, but it felt great to paint something I knew I was gonna keep for gaming. Here she is....
  25. With an outfit like that I'm not suprised he felt the need to incorporate kneepads into his wardrobe. Love the models, got mine assembled and ready top paint yesterday. I have still not seen two Seamus models painted the same way, which I think is great.
