  1. Also, it may be blue or gray in your area. Owens Corning is pink, Dow is usually blue. I forget who makes gray, but I haven't seen it in MN (and even then, it was at a specialty lumberyard) in years. Regardless, here: http://insulation.owenscorning.com/homeowners/get-insulation/ Then you can at least see if anyone aside from home improvement stores carries it.
  2. But insulation works both ways- it also keeps the house from warming up as quickly when the A/C is on. I would say maybe it was some dumb EPA thing like in California, but... well, it's freakin' Texas. If they go all green and socialist, it's over for the US.
  3. Don't take it personally. My "argument" and the quote were mostly unrelated. I just found it funny that you went, in one sentence, from "O scale looks best" to "O scale is ridiculous." Then I went on to answer the original question.
  4. Uh... 1"= 4' (1"= 48") is O scale. Unless you're in England, where it's 1/43. That said, O scale typically looks best- while it's true that it would actually be a little big, it tends to look right because minis usually have a different scale for girth than the commonly used height. For example: I am 5'10" tall. If I were accurately reproduced in 28mm, assuming 28mm=6' (and that's a whole separate argument, so just assume it for this example) I would be 27.2mm tall, or 1.070 inches. Of course, Malifaux is 32mm, in which case I would be 31.11mm, or 1.224 inches tall. My wrist measures 2.420 inches wide and 1.740 inches thick. The 32mm version of me would have a wrist 1.07mm (.042") wide and .77mm (.030") thick. Which, especially if I were holding a weapon, would almost certainly snap off during shipping. In reality, miniatures have to be made a little more substantial. Not much; I have an Anima Tactics figure handy, which has a wrist of .055" x .041". It's a woman, though, and would likely have more slender wrists than I do, making those numbers even further apart. And while they are only slightly different, remember that using those figures, .44mm/.017" is one inch at full size, which would make that woman rather ham-fisted if she were accurately scaled. The point being, even though 1/48 is a little large (using 32mm = 6', 32mm would be about 1/57, so we can at least agree that 32mm ranges from about 1/54 to 1/65 , depending on whether you measure to the eyes or to the top of the head, and whether you assume that 6' is an average height, or 5'9", or whatever) due to the exaggerated girth of figures, it looks about right. It also helps that figures are usually on bases, so having the doors a little taller than they should be still makes them appear to be the right height. Better still, if you're scratch building (and using proper inches rather than the commie metric system) 1/48 makes the math a million times easier, since a quarter inch equals a foot.
  5. If you like AT-43, keep an eye on the FFG site in December. They still have a crap ton of it in stock, and will likely discount it 75% or so in their annual Xmas sale. (I don't know this for sure, though. They did it last Xmas.)
  6. 1. Depending on the quality and state of cosmetic surgery in Malifaux, I would guess that there are at least two things wrong with the statement that Taelor is a "real woman." 2. When you say you can't find a ruleset anywhere, I presume you mean "on the web, stolen and for free?" Because it's not that tough to find: From the manufacturer: Cipher Studios From their primary US distributor: Fantasy Flight Games Other webstores: The War Store, Noble Knight
  7. Laser cut from "Lazerboard" which is a resin-impregnated cardstock.
  8. Vectorcut mostly does HO scale stuff, but has some very Malifaux-ish (Malifesque?) O scale accessories, including more cogs and gears than you will ever need.
  9. And then the best contest of them all, Iron Painter, in late December/January. And February. And March. And April. And May...
  10. I don't think so. There's a lot of back and forth between the artist and the narrator/cameraman. I suppose it could be dubbed, but it seems too natural, and I doubt they'd get voice actors of that quality. Also, the interview segments always feature the artists speaking English, regardless of their nationality. If they were dubbing everything anyway, it wouldn't make sense to shoot the interview in English instead of the artist's native language.
  11. They come out about every two to three months. Which is sort of annoying, as paying a monthly fee for service five times a year feels like a ripoff. On the other hand, that works out to $16-$24 per video, which isn't unreasonable. I got the Natalya video at GenCon, and the quality on it is awful. (Well, it's not awful, but it's not in HD, and the camera isn't very close to the figures being worked on, so it's countless hours of watching somebody doing something with a brush on a miniature without being able to tell exactly what is going on.) The MM ones are at least very clear, with the miniature usually blown up to the size of the screen or larger, making them easily worth $16-$24. I just wish the narrator would SHUT THE HELL UP. I'd pay $12 a month for that.
  12. The Fantasy Flight Games Event Center. Though, I do shop at Village often, as I live in Spring Lake Park. (Actually, I was there last night picking up a few things.)
  13. Lucky. I never got around to picking up a Gor-Gor or Cardinal Syn. I ended up converting a GW Saurus Lord to serve as Gor-Gor on my Blood Bowl team.
  14. They certainly did. (I should post a shot of the full team, now that they're finally finished.) The game is long out of print, and wasn't really all that good. The company (Demonblade) that made it isn't around anymore either. They show up from time to time on eBay. I'd recommend doing several saved searches with terms like "rumble antarctica" "GWAR game" and "GWAR miniatures." You'll get e-mailed when anything matching these criteria pops up. Though, the books show up (sans figures) fairly frequently, so be warned- the auctions don't always make it clear you're not getting the figures along with the book.
  15. Wouldn't the ice crystals work individually? (Or is Rackham gluing them into the bases nowadays?)
  16. Not a problem. I'm sure I could have worked it out with someone else, but as the original participant in the trade, I wanted to give you first crack at it.
  17. Also, if anybody knows how to get a hold of Wren, let her know I'm trying to get in touch. PMing here is the only way I have to contact her, and I know she'd be interested.
  18. Nimtron wasn't able to arrange it. The offer is still open! PM now!!
  19. Wren hasn't answered her PM yet, so I'm opening this up to the first taker. The story: I like rye whiskey. But I live in the midwest, where rye isn't very popular. There are about three or four brands I can find, maybe, if I go to a top shelf liquor store. And I've had them all many times. In the south- particularly the Virginias, Tennessee, and Kentucky- rye is much more popular, and there as many many more brands from smaller distilleries available. The Deal: GenCon is coming up, and people will be traveling from all over to attend. If you are from the South and will be attending GenCon, I will trade you ANY FANTASY FLIGHT GAMES BOARD GAME or RPG BOOK/CORE SET for one bottle of good (~$25) bottle of rye whiskey. I do mean any game, from a $100 Horus Heresy down to a $25 Citadels. (There are a few tiny stipulations- see below.) I can't do this for all comers, so it's first PM first served. The stipulations: 1. It has to be a game published by FFG, and not something FFG distributes for another company. There's not much that falls under that any longer- Anima Tactics is not FFG, nor is the Anima RPG. Dark Heresy, WFRP, and Rogue Trader, however, are FFG. They are GW properties, but FFG actually does the printing for those. Wings of War is not FFG. 2. It has to be a game or book currently available. I can't get anything that's a GenCon release, or that is coming out in the next few weeks. (I'd like to; I just physically can't.) 3. I need to know what it is in the next week or so, so I can purchase it to bring down with me. 4. The liquor in question can't be one I've already had. (I will supply you with a list.) If you're interested, shoot me a PM. -Bexley
  20. I keep meaning to post this here- it's an online store that deals primarily in quarter scale (same as model RR O scale) accessories. I've purchased from them a few times (if you ever saw the 2'x2' Malifaux swamp board and looked inside the shack, you saw bits I ordered from them) and have had good service. They have lots of furniture kits, most (if not all) of the Grandt Line accessories (windows, doors, architectural components) and many pages of Victorian wallpaper. The Quarter Source
  21. Not to mention, 1:48 is the same as dollhouse "quarter scale," and dollhouse decor and such is almost exclusively Victorian.
  22. Short answer: 1:56 to 1:64 vertically, 1:48-1:58 horizontally. Most 1:48/O scale accessories will look appropriate, though not all. When I build terrain boards or dioramas for 28-32mm figures, I use 1:48 scale to make the math easy, and it looks fine.
  23. Also, kudos on using Hirst molds and not ending up with something that looks like an ugly plaster toy.
