  1. The Art Thingy (yes, that's what they called it) happened last weekend. I've been waiting for the paper to put up some photos on the website, but guess they aren't going to any time soon. Anyway, it was a huge success. It was supposed to run from 10 AM to 5 PM, but by 4 it was pretty quiet, so we all called it a day and packed up. Lots of interesting stuff and it was fun to "talk shop" with some different artists - painters, clay sculptors, etc. Very friendly group. All together there were about 30 different invitees that attended. At one point the local radio station talked about stopping by to interview me, but they never did. Oh well. Actually, it went a lot better than I had expected. I took 24 miniatures and about 3 tubs of Hirst Arts blocks for the kids to do some "hands-on" stuff with. By 1 PM, I was out of minis and had about a tub and a half of blocks left. There were a few times when my table was completely surrounded by kids and adults wanting to try painting or building something. Not sure if anyone is interested in picking up the hobby, but at least there was some exposure to it. The library is talking about doing this again next year, so I'll have to plan accordingly. It was first for both the invitees and the organizer at the library, so we all learned a little bit of what to expect. Overall, it was great fun and people seemed to have a really great time.
  2. Yeah, GI is a pretty good-sized town; about 40,000, I think. It's one of those places where it's kind of like a big city, but has a small-town feel to it. The town I live in - York - has about 9,000.
  3. You're moving to Nebraska to further your career? I thought people left this state to do that. Well, good luck with the move! Yeah, Vike's right: I am from Nebraska and pretty close to GI. Got your PM and will reply.
  4. Very cool. The snow is very well done and everything just looks great.
  5. That really sucks that someone tried that, but fortunately she was able to get away; hope she's okay. Having a daughter myself, this is one my constant fears. Even when she goes to the park right across the street I'm nervous until she returns. Hopefully the police can catch this guy before he tries it again.

    Hello all

    Hello and welcome!
  7. @GH: No, not doing anything commercial, but I appreciate the info (as I appreciate everyone's input and advice on this topic). I've used GS a little bit, but heard a lot of people saying they use Milliput, especially in making bases since it can be sanded and sets up a bit firmer. Just wanted to see about messing around with it a bit.
  8. Denis Leary commercial for Hulu: http://www.hulu.com/watch/70859/hulu-tv-ads-the-leary-mission
  9. Then I might have to check it out. Thanks!
  10. Haven't even heard of it; my TV watching is pretty much limited to what I can watch on the computer (Hulu, Netflix, etc).

    Salut!

Hello and welcome. Nice to see a Wyrd mini getting that kind of attention. Apparently, that's been take care of. Practice, practice, practice. However, posting your work here and getting feedback is also an excellent way to improve. That's something that EricJ can answer. Because you wanted to and thought it would be fun?

    Hello!

Hello and welcome! Feel free to post up any minis you've painted; would love to see them.

    Greetings

Hey, Boris! Nice to see you made your way over here.
  14. I did check the local arts & crafts store, but they don't have it. The nearest Hobbytown is about 60 miles away, so bit of a drive just to get some milliput. @Vike: I didn't even think about MicroMark; dealt with them plenty of times in the past and they're pretty good. If I can't find some locally, I'll get it from there. @goblyn: We have three or four plumbing stores in town, so hopefully one of them has it. Thanks everyone!
  15. So, just a quick question about milliput for those of you that use it: Where do you get it? I've done some checking and searching, but I can't seem to find any place to buy it. I checked Dick Blick, The War Store, and the CMoN shop, but they don't seem to carry it (at least, as far as I could tell). I did find the Milliput site of course, but it seems you can't order directly from them. If you do order it online somewhere, could you let me know who it is and how the service is? I would prefer a US retailer if at all possible to try and keep shipping costs down.
  16. Hello and welcome!
  17. Five minis in a week?? That's just nuts. Well done with the paint jobs and I really like how the scene is laid out.
  18. Well, my brute (Rhoridan) took all three of you. Won two, lost one.
