The Art Thingy (yes, that's what they called it) happened last weekend. I've been waiting for the paper to put up some photos on the website, but guess they aren't going to any time soon.
Anyway, it was a huge success. It was supposed to run from 10 AM to 5 PM, but by 4 it was pretty quiet, so we all called it a day and packed up.
Lots of interesting stuff and it was fun to "talk shop" with some different artists - painters, clay sculptors, etc. Very friendly group. All together there were about 30 different invitees that attended. At one point the local radio station talked about stopping by to interview me, but they never did. Oh well.
Actually, it went a lot better than I had expected. I took 24 miniatures and about 3 tubs of Hirst Arts blocks for the kids to do some "hands-on" stuff with. By 1 PM, I was out of minis and had about a tub and a half of blocks left. There were a few times when my table was completely surrounded by kids and adults wanting to try painting or building something. Not sure if anyone is interested in picking up the hobby, but at least there was some exposure to it.
The library is talking about doing this again next year, so I'll have to plan accordingly. It was first for both the invitees and the organizer at the library, so we all learned a little bit of what to expect.
Overall, it was great fun and people seemed to have a really great time.
