what you mention there has to do with a more significant aspect of "gaming" that scares of women/girls way more than sexy and (semi)naked female characters. the rules/fanatisicm/competitive thing.. Ive known plenty of girls (even of the fashion-magazine type.) who find the art and miniatures etc. very interesting of this hobby... only to see their faces wringle into disgust when you walk past a gamestore with guys yelling at each other about the unfairness of the dice rolls and making *waaagh* noises. and I think similar competitive loudness might scare off on forums too... heaps of broken, unfairness, change this, change that discussions. actually it puts me off too. (but then I have the opinion that, competitive in THIS hobby should be about painting.. competitive games for me are chess etc. )

I hope this doesnt sound harsh (I have a tendency to say things harder than intended).. but Ive got the perfect solution for you that solves all the complaints. dont buy the gencon presales and wait untill they come in regular sale again !? that way you 1.) support your LGS, 2.)dont freak out new players and 3.)have read the book so know exactly what you will be getting. its that simple. I really dont get this wyrd-change-this attitudes while the solution and thus to a certain degree the problem lies in people's own hands ? edit: pretty much what nathan says I see now

seamus, collette, molly, rotten belles, coryphee, nurses civilians/working class etc. characters with special powers etc. as opposed to sword-toting warriors, sorcerers and mythological things.. as well as all the nightmarish things (kade, puppets etc.) as opposed to monsters and demons that and dead marshals ^^

the boxset maybe .. Im pretty sure (tough not 100% ) Levi was in fact one of the earlier miniatures.. even before public speech about malifaux existed and it was just a pretty wyrd range of miniatures ? cant remember for certain tough

afaik all are in the credits, and if you are a big fan of someone's work, and that someone doesnt want to remain in complete anonimity its quite quickly done with a bit of google to find out who did what

I Myself have on my table a longterm fan character project (art, fluff, conversion for wich I have yet to find proper miniatures.. and rules eventually.) wich is a bit of a cruella de ville meets elizabeth bathory for ressers. (with 2 companion undead poodles a living furcoat made of zombie hoarcats etc.) she doesnt want power, just eternal youth (power she has, as a wealthy member of the malifaux upper class.) and then in book 3 was the fluff with the lady dealing in haunted mansions.. and was thinking how it would be fun if that would turn out as a master that can only have 1 of each profile but can somehow companion them etc. ... (basically turning each profile into a named *ghost* akin to the thirteen ghosts.) that would give a very different approach to playing ressers too I think (as I often see, well why should I take XX when I can take XX instead, and complaints about uselessness of some profiles.. if you can only take 1 of each, does change the approach.) that said, I do think Kirai is a true resser.. just would love to see more female ressers. Someone mentioned the Orphanage woman idea... wich I think is also awesome (tough..I initially tought Pandora is the orphanage woman, but she cant take crooligans etc. I made mine into an orphanage leader (with the woes being the shadows on kid miniatures etc. etc. ... every profile converted so it has a kid in its presence.) that said.. orphanage woman maybe more as a neverborn or an outcast even, probably henchwoman. lastly. Agreeing with the gender switch ideas for masters would be fun side miniatures and yes keeping certain aestics (so.. yes gender bended lilith would be a leather clad, showing skin kind of lad... why is that so horrible ?.. funniest would be zoraida and marcus... they pretty much are each others bended genre allready )

hoping on a more "civilian" and victorian/western take on easterners rather than a historical/mythological one personally.. so, Opium-den owners and their followings ( geisha, but a bit more street/urban rather than traditional.).. yakuza/triad gang types... old curiosity shop-owner, firework specialists, restauranttypes (butcher/cook) etc. etc. rather than samurais, monks etc. (tough offcourse the ronin, lady J.. they do need a sensei and all ) rather adding more the vibe of the samurai-punks, kirai and the ronin rather than too much misaki and the brothers... (I love either oriental theme.. mostly looking at it from a miniatures Id love to see point of view.)

I missed the molly part somehow at what time is it ? wonder if the new faction=something for all factions acts out as something like the ten thunders having individuals (minions, henchman, masters.) spread out among all the factions and also having access to previously appropiately themed elements within the existing factions ( lots of orient themes among the resurrectionists allready for example )

Seamus the mad hatter as coppelius or Seamus avatar form as a Teddy/Mad hatter (especially think the latter is great.) if you could find more similar and small minis the white rabbit from reapers set could be daydreams (white rabbit as alice her totem makes sense )

easy, seamus would be a gunsmith. the alternates for Dead LJ box were "random" assigned too (not fitting what they represent exactly.)
