Yep you pretty much narrowed it down to the general consensus. About the IP format, personnally, knowing how time consuming terrain building can be, I probably wouldn't be able to submit several entries in a relatively short amount of time. I didn't want to enter IP6, 'cause I'm not sure I can paint that fast, at least not if you expect a decent result... So, I'd prefer a "one shot" contest with several categories "specific theme, size, etc.." and no restrictions on building material (hirst art blocks, static grass etc..) The contest should get people involved who do not ordinarily spend too much time on dioramas, elaborate bases or terrain pieces, so definitely small pieces like markers should be encouraged. Also, in order for the folks at Wyrd to get something out of it, I'd suggest a theme like "Steamvictoriohorrorwestpunk" that could influence the making of the Malifaux game... Any suggestions as to the name of the contest ?

Hi St Anger, keeping a blog is the right thing to do; I started mine 4 years ago to keep track of everything hobby related (terrain building and miniature painting) and so far I managed to increase my output every year; the quality seems to improve a little too... http://art-de-vivre.blogspot.com/ the only problem I have is that I can't post any minis I want to enter in a contest, or I risk being disqualified ! That's why I'm always way ahead of what is actually on the blog. on marriage : I've been married 19 years now and have no advice whatsoever to offer and I still don't understand women... on bits : I buy mine on ebay, there are some good vendors out there with decent prices; I have been using a pin vise for years, and change bits 2-3 times a year. Thanks for the advice on parrafin, I never thought of that : I always have candles lying around and will from now on use finished candles to try and extend the bit life !!! About bits quality, I'm not sure if carbon bits are the best, I suppose HSS (high speed steel) should be better since they are more expensive; I started using new bits that fit my dremel recently : the result is great and painless, but the breakage rate is very high. Now I'm thinking about buying a "chuck adapter" (also on ebay for 5 bucks) to fit some ordinary HSS bits onto my dremel : combined with the parrafin trick, pinning should be a breeze ! Will keep you posted ! Cheers !

What can I say, I believe I have all their pirates, most of them even painted, so I should be enthusiastic about these releases. Unfortunately, they are starting to look too similar to the existing ones, not sure I'll buy some more...same goes for the western figs. Cheers !

I second that idea ! Plus, it would provide some interesting ideas in terms of terrain for Malifaux as well... A trophy figure would be great, but instead of Seamus or any existing fig I would prefer an new exclusive piece that is only available during contests. It would be something specially wyrd !!! Of course, it would have to be cast in gold, silver and bronze for respective placement .... As an added bonus, I would even volunteer my face for the first model...just kidding; or maybe not...

Hi monkey ! These figures look pretty good; they seem kind of tall, which is good if you place them next to sylvan elves or such. Never heard of this company though, where do you unearth this kind of news ? I s'pose you won't tell me because then you'd have to kill me, right ? Cheers !

Hi Bugking, I generally agree with you regarding metal figures : the sheer weight makes you feel that you actually have something for your money whereas plastic figures are light and seem to be less "valuable". Still, I would make a distinction between plastic and resin : with plastic, I have the Confrontation 4 figures in mind, with resin I'm thinking Ilyad Games or Fenryll for instance. Resin is at least as expensive as metal in terms of production (I never quite understood why : if anybody knows, please come forward...) but takes detail better than metal ! If you just look at a figure like Leonidas from Ilyad, even in comparison to some of the fancier metal Rackham figures, you'll notice a difference in favor of resin. Then again, if you paint like I do, it doesn't really matter Cheers !

the R. story is quite sad; I'm one of those faithful customers of Confrontation figures until they released the 3.5 rules and the PPP. I totally quit buying the PPP (I still have a mint AT-43 starter set, and will probably sell it for peanuts on ebay) and stopped playing altogether... Anyway, R. set a very high standard in the miniature world about 10 years ago, and they should be recognized for that : brilliant scuplts and artwork, a steady flow of new monthly releases, a nice magazine etc..). A similar thing can be said about the now defunct Ilyad Games (I'm selling some on ebay these days- pm me if you are looking for something specific except Vorags) that had beautifully sculpted and original minis, but little business success. Being French myself, I can easily make fun of the "business savvy" (or lack thereof) of French companies when it comes to marketing, for instance. But in terms of artistry and design, we can still be proud of a number of achievements... The good news is that R. isn't dead yet, and that the sculptors are all busy working either for R or other companies; (most of the Ilyad sculptors now work on Helldorado, I believe), so as afficionados of nice sculpts (all of us on the Wyrd forum obviously) there is still hope ! Cheers !

I highly recomend a free program that will recover most of your files (including photos of course) after a crash or erase by mistake : filescavenger look it up on the net and try it : you'll get back all files that have not been damaged, provided you have not saved some new files on the "empty" space in your hard drive. Hi folks, I might be going to Gencon Paris next weekend; not 100% sure though since there isn't much to see there in terms of exhibitors, mainly GW and Asmodee (Helldorado).. Among the French miniature companies, Rackham and Fenryll are not coming... It is just the right size and if you have actually had tea before cutting it off, it will be the right color too !
