  1. Welcome to the forums--yeah, another Guild fan!!
  2. Welcome to the forums!
  3. Fantastic! I really like how you incorporated the base and the mini together--it looks like they were designed that way. Great job utilizing the purple to tie the two parts together as well.
  4. This was my entry into the TT/FF contest this year. I had originally done it at the end of last year and had been holding on to it to enter into the FF contest this year. I know I missed the theme by a country mile. I probably should have waited to enter it into the HH contest, but I was anxious to hear feedback on it. This was painted for my wife for Christmas. It was a few months late and was originally intended as a present for the birth of our daughter. The original mini was from Custom Made Minis, but was modified to have a bit of a belly. So all of you that speculated that she was pregnant were correct. The insignia on the dress is a monogram of IKF, which is our daughter's initials. The base also was symbolic of our new life, going from winter (my wife and I's relationship is not that bad, LOL) to spring with new life and a fresh perspective after she arrived. I hope you enjoy it! Thanks to everyone for their comments during the contest and congratulations to Landreth. And the obligatory shot to my ego : http://www.coolminiornot.com/224036
  5. I think that is more often a function of the spouse than the painter... Fortunately, my wife is more understanding. My spot got upgraded from the unfinished basement to the upstairs spare bedroom.
  6. I like the new set up, Bryan. I got some more elbow room last year and it sure is nice to be able to stretch out a bit. Of course, the new area quickly got overrun and now is as cluttered as the old room, but that's how we mini painters are, right? Right?
  7. Cool! Glad to hear it went so well, Hinton. Like I had said previously, if the organizers want to expand things or allow for other artists to have their stuff shown in absentia, let me know and I'll send some little metal men your way for next year.
  8. This was my one of my entries at ReaperCon '09 for their ordnance category. The aircraft's color scheme was taken from the species of dragonfly called the Blue Darner. I was very fortunate to have won the gold in the category with the piece. I want to say a big, big thanks to Demonherald and Talespinner for their help with this project. As always, comments and critiques welcome! CMoN linky if you are so inclined: http://www.coolminiornot.com/223765
  9. I think you do an outstanding job! There will be no spanking from me (at least in regards to this particular topic).
  10. Amazing work! Beautifully executed (no pun intended...) piece. I'd also like to hear how you did the icewater base.
  11. Fantastic bits of fluff there in the promos. I have to admit I am a sucker for good fluff...
  12. Ahh--don't know how I missed these first go 'round. Great stuff! I like the dwarf a lot. The tattoos are a great touch. Thanks for the recipes--I always like to hear what other folks are using. Very nice gemwork as well. Critiques...let's see. On the dwarf, I think the major thing for me would be to take the highlights up a bit more, especially on the mohawk. Boris's steel metallics look very good--I think the shading on the sword is spot on. The gold shading looks a little splotchy in spots, particularly on the right wrist. The necklace also looks a bit flat compared to the rest of the model. I hope that helps!
  13. Agreed--Zorro's sword is rather uncharacteristic--perhaps it is a casting issue for the rapier? Either way, a snip of the blade and a bit of drilling with a sewing pin inserted in it's place should fix it up.
