  1. Baseball .... is that a sport? : <- runs for cover
  2. I guess there's a new edition of Rolemaster around the corner ...
  3. OMG they don't look like anything rackham ever produced, they're crap. I'm glad I purchased most of the Rackham metal stuff I wanted recently - they might turn belly up if they keep up with tjis poor quality, high prices and slow new additions to the new rule, prepaint plastic confrontation.
  4. the (often used) resolution to the customs charge thingy is to have it declared as a gift just under the threshold. But there should be no invoice in the package in case its gets inspected nvertheless AND it is risky, because it's only insured to that amoount (if insured at all). Some international sellers do that, some don't. I guess you just have to ask. A good (german) shop with most of Wyrd stuff (and others) is "Battlefield Berlin". just google it, don't have the adress now. I have very good experiences with them in the past.
  5. in a certain way they did ... they made that formula centuries ago and basic math can compute the easter days for the whole future ...
  6. normally, the day is computed like this (in western christianity): easter sunday is the sunday after the first full moon after the vernal equinox (march 20th or 21th ). (however, this is th church version of full moon, not the astronomical one, but they differ only about a day at most currently)
  7. if that's an assassin nun, alone the concept of one is great.
  8. I'd like a print version and I would pay up to 10 Euros for it, if it remained at the current layout of the ezine. I could easily live with a mag that has a part of b/w or greyscale and only some full colour pages (for showcase minis e.g.) I normally can't sustain interest in online only mags. I was a devout reader and buyer of Dragon even when I didn't play the game for years, but after it went online only, I checked it maybe once ... The only other game-related mag I buy every month is Knights of the Dinner Table. So my artistic expectation in a mag is kind of low ;-)
  9. What Miniature game do you play the most? Why? Blood Bowl. Beacuse: It combines my favourite Sport, Amrican Football with Fantasy stuff, that's a plus from the fluff side. You have 20+ different teams to choose from to suit your playing style. If you play in a league, your players (the minis) can get better by getting additional skills. That's some kind of roleplaying aspect I really like. And, the community is great. Just go to one of the bigger BB tournaments (and, at least in Europe, there is one every weekend somewhere on the continent) and you can see that. The other important aspect from a painter's point is, you don't have to paint 100+ models just to play the game. A basic team at a tournament has 11 - 14 players. What was/is your all time favorite miniature game? Why? Blood Bowl, reasons see above. I never played WHFB or WH40K though. I got the Confrontation 3.0 rulebook and lots of minis, but never actually played. So I can't say anything good or bad about it. When I was much younger I played Heroquest a lot, simple but fun, esp for people, who are not much into gaming and would be alienated by complex rulesets. I also got Fairy Meat, fun game with funny fluff. nice for one-off games. I played a lot of DnD 3.0, where combat basically becomes a skirmish miniatures game. The basic principle worked reasonably well, but the huge amount of special abilities etc, esp at higher levels, made combat a real pain. Some mass encounters at high levels would go on for hours. What games do you think just were no good, and were not fun to play, and...why? Dunno. Didn't try any miniatures game that was outright bad. Do you think a great minis can carry a bad game? No. Some people may argue GW makes nice minis and bad games, but I can't comment on it. Never played WHFB or WH40K (and the BB minis are mostly bad, but the game is good) Do you think a good game an be brought down by bad minis? not necessarily. see BB example above What do you first look for when deciding whether to play a new game? I want rulebook or box I can page through, not a pdf-file on my comp. I want a basic miniature selection easily available that let's me play the game without any additional hassle (waiting for expansion X, having to use proxies or buy additional blisters just to have something playable on the board). Decent art and layout helps. A nice background story is all I need for fluff normally. How many minis do I need to play? If the answer ist about 30+ I turn away at once. I don't have the time to paint whole frigging armies. It took me four months just to paint a 16 people BB team. And some roleplaying elements are a plus, gaining addtl. skills with experience for example. How important is the fluff to your gaming experience? In a miniatures game ... not much. The more roleplaying elements come into it, the more fluff I'd like to have. I'm one of those roleplayers who goes for fluff when making a character, not for min-maxing.
  10. I remember that Fairy Meat of KenzerCo also used cards for resolution. I don't remember the details though and my copy is about a thousand kilometers away ... It worked reasonably well as far as I can remember.
  11. ugh ... I'll better hurry and get some blisters of the recent daemonettes. I have that particular idea of a "Brides of Slaneesh" Blood Bowl team ...
  12. I recently moved from Germany to Ireland. I had to adjust to what's available here, quite a difference even though they've broadened their culinaric horizon due to the massive inflow of immigrants (like me). I miss my german bread for example, that Irish soda stuff is icky. Well, here we go: breakfast is Coffee and toast (with cheese or ham) lunch, either taken at the canteen at work (rather good for a canteen, wide variety of food) or selfcooked pasta on my days off. dinner is usually wholegrain bread with cheese or ham.
  13. I like her dress. pretty neat and the front is probably a pain in th a.. to paint (at least for me)
  14. I can second that. It's a good one, it's free und if you want additional features, it's cheap to upgrade. Using it for years now and had never problems.
  15. Personally, I'm really looking forward to the game. I doubt I find any other players here in Dublin until I subvert them myself, but anyhow, I plan on picking up some factions (and the game).
  16. that was certainly a game worth watching and just having 4 hrs of sleep before going to work. At least the team that beat the cowboys in the playoffs went the whole way ... well, everybody knows what a sore loser Belichik is ... ;-)
  17. you should have saved that for the femme fatale contest. looks promising!
  18. huh?! a Mountains of Madness movie? That is soo cool. Forget the Hobbit ...
  19. Welcome! I know I have improved a lot by entering the Wyrd comps on a frequent basis.
  20. congrats Skya! there have been some truly stunning pieces in this IP.
  21. those arrows seem quite big in comparison to the armature ...
  22. Ok ... I only play BloodBowl most of the time ... it's not necessarily a TT, but a boardgame, the problem's still the same. I found that contrast is very important and getting the highlights as much up as possible the key for attracting attention. BB tourneys normaly have "best painted team" competition and it's almost always the nice painted team with the bright highlights that win. With my recent work on a Chaos team, I'll try to go there.
