Brewmaster Crew pool?

So the Black Friday releases have been spoiled and as awesome as some of those sets are, there's no Brewmaster. :( So with the official models at least another 4 months away I guess it's time to put together a proxy crew for the interim. ;)

So what would a 65SS model pool look like for the Brewmaster crew? All the Tri Chi are in, obviously, and I hear Francois is a good choice too. But then what?

Here's what I have so far,

Brewmaster

Apprentice Wesley 3

3x Moon Shinobi 18

Fingers 10

Whiskey Golem 10

Francois 7

4x Bayou Gremlins 12

Slop Hauler 5

The last two, in italics, are the ones I'm not sure about so I'm especially interested in hearing whether there's a better option I've missed.

Bishop makes a good fit with Brewmaster as well. He has 3 AP, can target either Df or Wp and has a built in Df trigger to deal damage on a failed attack. With dirty cheater he is the same cost as the Golem with the angry drunk upgrade.

For that price I could take 2xMoon Shinobi though, who can choose to attack WP just like Bishop AND have synergi with all the poison flowing around a Brewmaster crew (aswell as being able to spread poison out themselves).

I would personally always take my brewmaster crew together with 10T- their archers can shoot into melee while Moon Shinobis dances around, the new Fermented River Monk is insane with Brewmaster, Torakage are better at schemes then Fingers IMO(ignoring disengage), and a dragon that spreads poison around like a boss :)

- My biggest problem with this setup, is choosing between Whiskey Golem and the Dawn Serpent >>

While those are valid choices I believe Bishop to be just as valid. Df 6, 3 AP, and the ability to give himself the needed trigger, not to mention paralyze models or flurry is a good choice as well. Drop poison onto enemy models and watch Bishop go to work. Vanessa also can go well with the Brewcrew since her staff target Wp as well. Combine that with command construct and you can move the golem pretty dang far and still have df 7, as well as a little bit of deck manipulation. The Strongarm suit is also a valid choice since he is Armor 2 and can target Wp with his Sh attack, Sue gives a good option when facing casty type crews. Just a couple of ideas that may be unconventional but do synergize well with Brewboy and his goons.

Almost forgot Performers can go wel with BM as well, the ability to spread poison and also force the target to take damage to the poison condition valus is something that BM can use to eliminate models that get too close.

Wauw, I had not seen the Performer beta model, but they look like they are made for a BM crew!

(1) Poisoned Hairpin (Ml 6 / Rst: Wp / Rg: y1): Target suffers 1/3/5 damage and

gains the Poison +2 Condition.

(1) Siren Call (Ca 6t / TN: 10t / Rst: Wp / Rg: 12): Push target model its Wk

towards this model.

C To Their Doom: After succeeding, the target gains the Paralyzed

Condition if it is in base contact with this model.

R Deadly Dance: After succeeding, immediately take a (1) AP Ml

Attack Action against the target if it is within range and LoS.

t A Sip of Wine: After succeeding, the target suffers damage equal

to its Poison Condition value. Remove the Poison Condition from the

target.

That could be an insane combo with BM! ^^

Alright, so this is my new BM list... Of course it is uncertain if the 2 beta models will stay the same, but if they do... THINK OF THE POSSIBILITIES! ^^

I find lenny can work well with the Bremaster/Moon Shinobes as well. True, he can't get the Posion condition, but with the Whacked Poglet upgrade, and the right cards it's easy to get a few piglets on the boar, who can be Posioned and get the Shinobe moving with " Where'd ya get that" ( or whatever the 0 act is, I don't have cards right infront of me). Plus, lenny can be a tought large target to draw enemy fire away from your other guys.

I personally think thats way to many resources to use just for a few movement tricks, especially as I dont see neither Lenny nor piglets do anyhting else for a BM crew. You also have to consider all the great models with awsome synergy you have to leave out just to do that :)

Iggy could act as a neat escort for BM and Wesley to drop Wp by 2 within 6 even before you get the Poison flowing. Would make it easier to protect the BM from hitters, but you would always be using his (0) to force Wp duels or else heal and drink instead.

Tannen really shines with his no cheat aura, next to a liquored up Brewmaster having a Drinking contest can be incredibly frustrating for your opponent to do much. Yin also brings damage and :-fate flips to duels as well as Terrifying. Lot's o stuff to think about, I think he has some really interesting options as 10T.

So I tried the last setup mentioned before with the Fermented Monk and Performer. The Fermented Monk seemed really good for 5SS, and extremely easy to buff in the first turn with BM, as you can just relent the duel for BM to cast the poison on him. I had some problems getting the Fermented monk in possition with his lack of CG, but when he was in the face of the enemy, he hits like a truck, and are even able to reactivate without to much of a hassle.

The Performer however was not exactly what I had hoped for, in fact she was more or less useless. I will have to do some more tests before I can give my final answer, but as of right now, she is not a model I would use in a BM crew considering all the other great options you could go with instead.

Today I will try to use BM in a pure Gremling crew, replacing 10T archer with Mctavish(for firing into melee) and Dawn Serpent with Whiskey Golem. I will report back with the results afterwards :)
