aHamelin and drain soul.

Question

mmkay...so have been wondering a bit:

aHamelin drops 3 low cards to summon 3 rats, then to sacrifice the lot with "drain souls", to effectively make 3 low cards in to 3ss, at the cost of crew wide -3wp.

  • Is this allowed if you keep the rats within the range of "Nihilism"?
  • Does the -3 wp apply to models summoned in to the crew afterwards?

Best Regards

Seb

The -1 WP is per Drain Souls, not per model so -1 WP per 3 rats you sacrifice as TheBurner said. I believe that it is cummulative for the models in play at the time of the action so the new models summoned later wouldn't be affected.

Here is the however, though:

New rats are only generated when a model is killed...not sacrificed. Nihilism seems irrelevant to your question as it now only makes models within 6" lose insignificant.

So, to answer your question entirely... No, the above scenario would not work.

You CAN use drain souls, yes. But Drain Souls still sacrifices the rats and new rats only come back if they are killed.

I may be misunderstanding the intent. Is the intent to start with 0 Rats and 3 cards and end with 0 Rats, 0 cards, and 3 SS? Then, yes. If the intent was for the Rats to come back, then no.

Nihilism - "Friendly models lose the Insignificant Characteristic while within 6" of this model."

Voracious Rats - "When this model or a model within 6" is killed, summon one Malifaux Rat into base contact with the model before it is removed from play. The model does not generate Counters of any kind. No other model can be summoned as a result of the model being killed."

What you have just stated will allow you to sacrifice them.

The intent isn't for the rats to come back. You can't Drain Souls on Insignificant models, which is where Nihilism comes in. Since aHamelin can make 3 more rats the next turn, he essentially spends a turn trading 3 cards for 3 SS.

Absolutely. That involves you spending the action points but it does work like asked. I guess there could be reasons for using most of a whole turn of aHamelin to do this in addition to the 3SS... It does seem very situational.

It takes a 0 action and a 1 action to net yourself 3ss. then he still has 2 AP to throw out Leprous dance and what not, so there is still plenty to do, other than getting ss. And it was allso thought as a way to fund the cost of Leprous Dance, which will cost you 1ss to cast, no matter what.
