96p
Hi, can a Railworker perform Disengaging Strikes against models in 3" ? Greetings 96p
0 edonil
...I was going to say no, but now...I suppose in theory, yes, if you were to pick the Rg boost as the ability for the attack...maybe? Hm. Weird situation this one.
0 Adran
I think the rail worker only gets to use the range boost to his weapon when he makes the strike, so if you are more the 2" away you are not engaged, so there is no strike to make. I would have to check the cards wording to be sure, but I vaguely remember looking at this a month ago and deciding I couldn't keep engaged something 3" away. 0 96p
I think the Timing is essential, as you declare your attack before you measure you could use the 3" Rg
0 Csonti
Rules about Disangeging on page 48 give a clear answer to that. The model's controller may interrupt the active model's movement when it leaves the longest melee range of the passive model. Since 3" only applies when the Rail Worker makes an attack, during the opposing model's movement he only has the normal 2" range. So I'd say a definite no to this. 0 Kadeton
Oh God it's Gunfighter all over again.
0 Csonti
Gunfighter is pretty different since that ability explicitly states that you can make disangeging strikes with the (normally ranged) weapon at 2". (RM pg. 116)
0 Hateful Darkblack
Huh. Seems like the order maybe goes something like this: 1. Declare disengaging strike. 2. Declare special ability. 3. Measure range. 4. Cb -> Df duel. So, uh, I'm not sure, but I'm leaning toward yes.
0 Ausplosions
No. You declare a disengaging strike once the model moves to your furthest melee range. Which is two inches. You can't then choose to make your melee range 3" and let them move another inch... ---------- Post added at 09:34 AM ---------- Previous post was at 09:32 AM ---------- No. You declare a disengaging strike once the model moves to your furthest melee range. 0 Mach_5
I believe Csonti/Ausplosions have it right.
0 nilus
Yeah I gotta go with the guys above. The 3" is not the passive melee range so its not in effect with the disengaging strike.
0 Kadeton
Seems like a pretty strong consensus, and a fair outcome.
