MarcJWaters
So, I have been trolling the forums and reading up on the rules over the past few weeks. A while ago, I found an article that talked about the best model to supplement a starter box. Taking that knowledge and my cash, I placed an order for Rasputina + A December Acolyte and Colette + Coryphee. So, a few questions come to mind. Firstly, being a starter player, what else do I add to these lists to make them ready to play? After that, how should I arrange the Coryphee on the base (make them a duet or two solos)? Thanks for your understanding and your help.
Wolfgar
Well, Colette really needs mechanical doves. They synch really well with her. As for basing the Coryphee, a few people have used magnets. You make a little cut-away on the large and small bases and then attach the Coryphee by gluing in magnets. That way you can pull the figures out of the bases and transfer them to the larger or smaller bases as needed. Rasputina I have no idea. M_Ruckuss
Alot of this will depend on your starting list size and how your style of play develops. I used to swear by Pandora and use Lelu and lilitu for every neverborn master I took, but as awesome as they are they are not for me. I benefitted from playing several 25ss/starter box games, then proxying other figures to decide which I liked. Colette I have myself started a Colette crew recently, and have an opponent who plays with her alot. The starter box set and x2 corphyree will give you a nice 35ss crew, and as Wolfgar mentioned previously, the doves are also pretty important. I know others like to bring models such as the gunsmith, but I actually love the base 35ss crew and will probbably only be adding angelica (a new showgirl out in January) to my collection. Raputina I have only ever played against (never with) the rather awesome 'Tina but(depending on you schemes) silent ones can be horrific. They can seriously buff 'Tina's rather awesome casting ability and ( I believe) she can actually cast spells through them. I know them can crank up her range for sure. All masters have access to totems, and Tinas own totem (the wendigo) is pretty good from memory, but if you are already using the silent ones to castle up and cast alot of spells then the essence of powers ability to grant +flips for damage is really, really nice. (As a side not I also LOVE the look of the unreleased minion from the new book-may be called beast of december?) I know others also rate snowstorm, and the avatar is a superb model, but personally I suggest waiting until you have played a few games before trying these models as they seem to be a little more 'specialised' (although others may want to contradict me here-feel free if i'm wrong!) My immediate shopping list would be x1 pack of mechanical doves, x1 essence of power, x1 or 2 silent ones. That will give you a 35ss Collette crew and a 30-35 ss 'Tina crew. Hope this helps.... EDIT:Book 3 minion may be blessed of december...
rascally
What McDoogle said :bigthumb: Also, do'nt overlook option of using the Coryphee with Rasputina. Just starting Rapsutina myself and Coryphee is on mny shopping list for her, I recon they offer speed not normally found in a Raspy crew and might well be useful. TheOneWhoFell
Honestly, what you have for both crews is sufficient to play a game (that was the deal with each box: that you'd be able to play a game with what you purchased). The nice thing is that you can hire within your faction for no additional cost, so anything you pick up for 'Tina you can run with Colette and vice versa. 'Tina: I have a gentleman in my group who runs the Cerberus and the Razorspine with his 'Tina crew. They lend speed and range to a crew that is mostly Melee. The obvious ones are the December's Acolytes, Silent ones, Snow Storm, and the Blessed of December. Colette: Doves and the Misstress of Ceremony come to mind. Colette's crew is very dependant on the synergies between showgirls, so you'll want to be careful about taking too much that isn't a showgirl. But I could see Gunsmiths and Kaeris helping Colette out a ton.
LonelyPath
For Colette the Coryphee and Doves are pretty much a must have. the Doves add some additional speed and long range attack power in them exploding in range of enemies (ant in the case of Gamins and Witchlings, hopefully taking them out and causing further explosions). The Coryphee are extremely fast and can slice things up rather well in melee, so long as they aren't caught and cut down in return. Angelica also adds some new tricks, but I've yet to try her out (waiting for the model later this month).
micahwc
Doves, as everyone else has said, if for no other reason than Collette can summon them in game.
Huang Da Wei
I painted 2 single coryphee and a seperate pair on a larger base..... DONT DO IT, I thought the models look great but they are a bugger to paint. magnets are the way to go
Wolfgar
They were remarkably hard to assemble. I hadn't had the arms of any other model fall off as often as one of my Coryphee.
LonelyPath
Agreed on painting the Coryphee before putting them on a base. I printed mine first, then pinned them so they could go on 40mm and 50mm bases. Took a little patience so they drilled properly (one of them has a very narrow foot to drill) but it can be done. As for the arms, I pinned those also, same with the arms on my Mannequins.
