Blasts and Hard to wound.

I did a quick search and couldn't find the answer to my question which is, what happens if I target a model without hard to wound, then get severe damage and thus in this case 2 blasts, what if one of these blasts hits a target with hard to wound?

They take whatever the moderate damage was on the spell. If hard to wound isnt on the initial target it doesnt matter.

To expand on this strategy of target selection.

Remember when you hit your own guys you get to cheat for them. So its not a bad idea to run a dog or something up close(but not in melee). Drop a Blast spell on them and then cheat to get the severe damage and give the enemy some auto damage. Works great with Sonnia because her blast spell can blast the tokens 2" from the initial target.

Okay, thankyou for clarifying that, I just thought it a tad odd that Hard to wound is ignored, but they just take the moderate damage is that right?

Yes. Hard to Wound only applies to damage flips against the target; since the damage is coming from a blast which has a fixed damage number, and that there is no resist duel going on (and isn't the original target anyway), it does not apply.

This also means that spells/attacks which do straight, fixed-number damage are similarly not affected by Hard to Wound.
