Who hires the totem?

I played a fun scrap today with Levi and hired Molly into my crew. After the game my opponent suggested that since I had Molly that I should consider the grave spirit as well. This sparked a little debate. At first I didnt think I could do this because of Leveticus's rules which stated he cannot hire totems but the henchmen rules kind of contradict this. So which takes precedence? Levi's Rules that says He cant take a totem or henchmen rules which indicates that she can hire her own if she is included?

P.S. Ratty's crew creator on the website allows it... so...

Each master or henchmen can have its own totem. Leveticus can't have one because his Hollow Waifs take their place. It says he can't hire totems, but (unlike his other hiring restrictions) it doesn't say crews containing this model can't hire totems.

Right. Technically, the Crew hires the totem for Molly. Leveticus can't have totems attached to him. So hiring one for Molly's fine.

yep the wording is a touch squiffy on Levi's ability, it should really be "can't attach totems"

Wait whaa... I dont want to look a gift horse in the mouth but it specificly states "This model cannot hire Totems." I understand if I can get one from Molly but to hire the grave spirit out right could change the whole way he plays.

Every totem must be attached/connected to a master or henchman, so if he doesn't have anyone to attach the totem to, he can't get it (since he can't attach it to himself).

Yep, Totems are hired by the crew not individual models, however each one has to be attached to a single Master or Henchman. If that model dies then it is removed. As Leveticus can't attach a totem, you can't have a totem unless there is another model that can attach it, eg Molly or Collodi. If you had Collodi you could hire a Grave Spirit and attach it to him.
