Blast templates and how they work ?

Hey guys i have had few games playing malifaux and a freind of mine is playing sonni cridd and i have a question about her spell flame burst spell and how blast templates work

My question is can someone place all three templates touching the models base so that all of the templates hit the same target and all cause severe damage to do up to 20 damage with her trigger is this legal or are we doing it wrong

Personally i find it abit over powered as she can cast that twice a turn witch is quite brutal

The rules specifically say that a model touched by one or more templates takes the set amount of damage. So yes you are doing it wrong.

I like this explanation:

Ah, you must have missed it then. It's right there at the beginning of the 2nd paragraph, page 46:

"Any model, other than initial target, touched by one or more suffers damage one severity lower than what was inflicted on the target".

Relevant parts underlined by me. Basically it means no matter how many :blasts, the model always suffer damage one severity lower than the initial target and that applies to everyone touched by , but the initial target.
