Some amount can be seen as forced copying of what they think makes the ortegas work but too much just veers off into complete absurdity (and yes I know how strange it sounds to complain of absurdity with Deliverance Gremlins). Technically Gremlins are Neverborn, they're just a little behind the gene pool of the Nephilims. Hmmm.... let's see, brainwashed, tortured, hating its own kind and wanting to put fear into its own kin? Throw in drunkard and you have a normal "functional" Gremlin.
