  1. I apologize, the tournament was announced two weeks ago but I only just now thought to post it here. When I first started running tournaments a couple of years ago I posted on these forums and got no responses and few views so I just kind of fell into the mode of assuming all of the local players already visited the forums we use to post tournaments. But Malifaux has grown a lot since then so I will be posting our events here as well from now on. We run roughly a tournament a month so hopefully you can make the next one :1_Happy_Puppet1: Expect it at the beginning of April
  2. Standard 35 Stone Tournament following Gaining Ground http://www.wyrd-games.net/mint/pepper/orderedlist/downloads/download.php?file=http%3A//www.wyrd-games.net/Upload/MalifauxGainingGround2011print.pdf Domination Format (TPs/VPs/Diff) Saturday March 3rd 12:00 PM Start Location: Gigabites Cafe East Lake Shopping Center 2197 Roswell Road, Ste 101 Marietta, GA 30062 (770)578-1497 Single Faction Don't have to be fully painted and proxies are okay Avatars allowed but you must be very familiar with their rules and have an easy way for your opponent to see their rules (stat card or book). Three Rounds regardless of number of entrants 85 minute Rounds Fully painted and based to be given a Pat on the Back $5 I'm going to mix up how we have been doing strategies for this tournament. Instead of the TO picking a shared strategy for every game, each game (pick a player, if you can't decide then I will flip) will flip on the Expanded Encounter Chart. If you get shared strategy the player that didn't flip for the Expanded Encounter (or me) will flip for the shared strategy. Each player then has the option to spend a soulstone to reflip. If you get individual strategies then both players will flip for their individual strategy and each will have the option to reflip by spending a soulstone.
  3. experience. after you play all the scenarios and once you know what all the masters/crews do you will know exactly what to do and when to do it, which will keep the thinking time down and the play time fast. also gremlins are extremely awesome. ophelia is very straight forward with big guns, and pigs are probably even more powerful but a lot trickier to use, understand, and get the most out of. sooey is your friend.
  4. simply taking assassinate against them curbs this strategy for the most part
  5. well it would be more than simply giving him "henchman" and having it be the same model. he could get redesigned like hamelin did and it would be a whole new model, like Jack Daw, The Ultra. .... or something like that :stuckpuppet
  6. aha. so thats why people still think perdita is better than hoffman...
  7. i'm all for JD getting the hamelin-esque bump he is easily my favorite model (aesthetically)
  8. well it would give them a niche purpose perhaps. i'd be a fan of if they lost nightmare too :santa:
  9. yep that is pretty much how it works. give everything fast. marionette walks, pulls strings. never marionette teleports, walks, pulls strings, etc. until you get in range of the target and then they start flurrying. and yeah the other dolls can just pop on in when it is their turn too. you can companion most of it, but to the extent you can't, you can also just out activate them. as far as anything more you would need, there is simply no reason not to max out on stitched.
  10. I don't think you are missing anything. The twins are better.
  11. I'm also fairly positive that was not intended. At the same time, just because something was intended doesn't mean it was right or good or balanced. Like I said the practical application of following a literal interpretation of the rules here is slightly reigning in a very powerful model without having to use Errata to do it. And it only really hurts Shikome the turn she is summoned, which is how all other summoning in the game works. Yet at the same time she is still better in that situation than every other summoned model. She just gets 2 AP instead of 3. The conversation I had was a private one, in a hypothetical sense. I wasn't offering it as proof of how it works, or should work, just that my interpretation was in fact how the sentence reads.
  12. collodi is fine on his own, but the reason people run him with zoraida is that he doesn't need soul stones. when you have soulstones on collodi you are at a loss of what to do with them since he doesn't really ever interact with enemy models. similarly zoraida doesn't have synergy with any particular models so is good in any crew. make a voodoo doll out of someone turn one, then later that turn or on turn two have your puppets go beat everyone up.
  13. I was thinking test for Smother (ie. take a Wp -> 12 test with negative flips for each Alp nearby), but Steal Breath works as well... I've actually already had this conversation with Sketch and Zee. They agreed with how it is currently worded that that is how it would technically work. Should it work that way? I don't know. Will it work that way officially? Perhaps not. But if you think of the practical consequences of having it work that way it stays true to the actual wording of how it is defined and is only a slight, very specific, and subtle cuddle to a model that is probably too good for 7 points, and definitely too good for being able to be summoned in the middle of nowhere and still have a full activation (which it could still do even with my interpretation). anyways, you sound mad bro. it's just my opinion, based on how english works and how immune is defined. i don't need someone with a pixel badge to help me make decisions and I'm not quit sure where you got that from. I can read. If I had to make the call in a tournament that's the call I would make. The game has definitions. These definitions can be different from vernacular definitions and quite often are. Again, my interpretation of this definition is that Shikome is still able to receive slow every though it cannot affect her. Like Brett Favre breaking his leg mid-game. It does not affect him. He plays through it as if he had a normal leg, yet his leg is still actually broken. You seem to miss the whole point of... well english, the fact that an ambiguous phrase might have more than one interpretation (even though how immune is defined is not currently ambiguous and what it literally says is what I am describing, but that is not how people would normally use "immune"), and that most people are capable of recognizing and discussing multiple interpretations without getting angry. :confusedpuppet
  14. in my opinion, you still test, you still take a wd, but do not lose the AP since you are unaffected by it. another example: shikome is summoned and receives slow, which she is immune to. she has two AP to use. she gets next to her prey which gives her fast, canceling the slow that she received from being summoned but was not effected by, and still leaving her with 2 AP.
  15. but you guys.... she is bottle feeding a freakin pig worth. every. penny.
  16. a couple things have actually changed though, i would just wait and read the rules manual. can start up on the awesome fluff though.
  17. it also practically never matters. the only times it will be alive at the end of the game is when you are crushing your opponent regardless.
  18. its always been good. what makes it bad is that nothing ever actually takes a terrifying test anymore
  19. they are both solid, but personally i would use mcmourning. has way more mobility to keep up, and pinging showgirls with wracked with pain pretty much ends their turn as the crew is reliant on 0 actions more than any other.
  20. you can still use the abilities. it just has to be on rats that were alive before hamelin manifests.
  21. holy crap i totally missed that. thank god. i was very concerned that they would gain the ability to have literally unlimited activations.
