What do you hold a mini with when painting?

What I do:

- cut the tab between the mini's feet

- pin one foot with 1cm sticking out of the mini

- put it on top of a cork

This is what I do. I further have the corks glued to spare bases (well, that's only my big one. The rest are on GF9 econo bases because they are heavier) to give them a nice wide base to set down on while I work as well. I have enough for a full unit with attachments in Warmachine or a full crew in Malifaux to work on all at once. Only my Avatar remains for my Malifaux crew so the corks have all been freed up for my next project.

I tend to paint groups of figs at a time, also, I pin everything to a scenic base (painted separately). I use a simple thick-lipped clamp to hold the figure I'm painting at the moment. I rotate the figs around as I paint and fear blu-tac would be insufficient to the task.

I like the nails idea. Might try that.
