EricJ
Thought we deserved to have ourselves a brand new hockey thread for the new season. How's your favorite team looking for the upcoming year? Anyone with a cup prediction?

Manicmac
yep, that's how many losses it takes to lose the west semis vs. the Sharks again too soon?? Oh you cut me to the quick Sir! You did ask for Stanley Cup predictions. . . nicht wa? Watch out west. . . Red Bird III can make it to the west coast without stopping for fuel. As for the Sharks and the Semi's. . . .I believe Vancouver stepped it up to kill the Sharks. . . .then collapsed epically. Stand By it. . . Manicmac
48 Days. Beer Tourny began yesterday evening. We won 5-3, should have been 5-2 but there was an awesome tip in at the horn. Game two tonight at 2015.

Manicmac
Lost 5-3. Goalie got yanked and they scored again with 20 seconds left. I hate getting yanked. We are in the championship game though so the worst we can do is SECOND!?!?!?! We're down 1-0 at the end of one.
Manicmac
We lost 2-3. Sad day. Sore. Tired. Can't wait until next week when there is another tourny and I play with my sons!!
Manicmac
Today, an MSN headline: "Islanders fret in wake of deadly shark attacks". I was shocked as I didn't think the Islanders played the Sharks. . . .
Manicmac
Getting close. Two sheets of ice down locally now, waiting for three and the beginning of the season. Getting the Red Wings locker room all spifed up and like my order just waiting. Oh, tourny this weekend! And my youngest is turning 21. . .Hockey and Bdubs this is going to be great! McNs
Hoping for the B's to take it again, though after last year I'm not sure how they'll top themselves (we beat Canada so bad they stopped acting Canadian). Go B's!
Manicmac
Way too early to tell realistically.I mean they have yet to show up for camp. But, I wouldn't look for a repeat, hope for, yes.
Manicmac
Practice. Practice. Practice. The calm before the training camp. And worring about which Red Wing is going to be a bobblehead this year.
Odin1981
Unfortunately today a KHL team was killed in a plane crash. Notables were Ruslan Salei, Brad Mcrimmon (sp), and at least 5-7 other players with NHL exp (2 former devils players, 1 Carolina player, 1 Anaheim player). So stick taps around for the families, friends, and loved ones of the victims of the accident.
EricJ
Seriously, this has been about the most tragic Hockey off-season in memory. I was down about the crash all day, which seems to touch nearly every team in some ways. Sharks had a prospect on the plane
Manicmac
The Wings had two prospects on the plane, as well as Brad McCrimmon, our former assistant coach and a guy my sons and I met. Very sad day indeed.
EricJ
The story around San Jose is that the prospect Daniil (can't hope to spell his last name), impressed so much at development camp that the coaches nearly transferred him to the Sharks AHL club to develop in the US, but decided to keep him in Russia for one more year while he worked on his language skills and conditioning. So many stories like this going around, when something like this happens, everyone is left thinking "what if..."
Odin1981
I thought we only had a former prospect (the swedish goalie) manic. Was Marchenko on the plane?
Dolomyte
My dad has a few team signed flyers memorabilia from when Brad McCrimmon was on the team, very sad story.
Manicmac
I am sure there will be a memorial at the Prospect Camp here in TC. SO sad, but the show must go on. . .
Manicmac
Tampa Bay backed out this year so we are not seeing Stevie Y. But there is a waiting list to come to this camp. Wings, Wild, Rangers, Blue Jackets, Sabres, Stars, Hurricanes, Blues Are all in. Very fast paced and very physical.
Manicmac
Last day tomorrow. . . I'll be there, if anyone has the MSG network look for me! I'll wear my henchman shirt and stand in front of the camera! Might be on the NHL network too. . . .
