deadboy
Preface: They are awesome. I think they should stand up pretty well to play. I see the problem being the stairs and to a lesser extent the joints. Even if you leave them built in a pretty static pattern the edges where there is exposed cardboard not covered by laminate is going to absorb moisture and expand/fray. So my question is what are your ideas for stemming this? Right now I'm thinking of some brush on glues or maybe jigsaw puzzle perserver solution. Do you have a better idea? Also, for those that don't game at home, what are your ideas for transporting it safely? the ladders and stairs are propably best just glued together and be done with it. Otherwise you risk them tearing or wearing to the point where they aren't sturdy anymore. Ideally the same goes for the rest but it's less practical with walls and flooring. What do you think? Ciaran
Without having any in my hands, it sounds like your glue/preserver idea has a lot of merit. I think it may take some experimenting to figure it out. I nominate you!
deadboy
Right now I'm leaning towards a tackle box type thing for the clips and an army transport/battlefoam back with pluck foam for the tiles.
WWG Denny
I would strongly recommend using the original boxes for both terrain and clip storage (reuse that desiccant pouch as well, as it will continue to protect against moisture and molds when stored). If you haven't already done so, skip to about 7:17 on this video for some reboxing tips http://youtu.be/N-LLR3uengQ
deadboy
I can't POSSIBLY see clip storage in those original boxes. I have 3 boxes of clips for 5 packs of terraclips terrain and that would just be a nightmare for storage and sorting.
WWG Denny
I can't POSSIBLY see clip storage in those original boxes. I have 3 boxes of clips for 5 packs of terraclips terrain and that would just be a nightmare for storage and sorting. I had 9 boxes of terrain and 8 boxes of clips while working on various promo bits. What I did deadboy was empty all the clip boxes, sort clips by type and then circled individual boxes with a marker to show their respective clip type. One clip type went into each box. You can't get better storage than that As for the terrain, it really does store quite well in the original box. You just have to take the time to organize your bits. Elastics and ziplock bags help keep things organized and secure as well.
Omenbringer
I bought a largish (24 quart) plactic bin and a bunch of 1 gallon and 1 quart freezer bags. It fits 6 sets nicely and protects and organizes everything very well. I found it difficult to store everything easily/ safely in the original boxes. Ciaran
Denny, do you have any ideas about protecting the edges? That's probably the biggest thing I'd like to take from this discussion. I'm seriously glad y'all got these made. I'm such a big fan of both companies. deadboy
I was kinda hoping there might be a third party drawn into this and maybe the fine folks over at battlefoam could get drawn in to make trays similar in function to the ones they did for that other company's space ship alien fighting game. deadboy
Yeah, but as I recall they couldn't CALL it a space hulk tray because they were afraid of GWs legal team. (this is supposition) They called it... yes, "Popular Corridor Space Game Foam Kit" Edited August 18, 2011 by deadboy clarification
ispep
Yeah, but as I recall they couldn't CALL it a space hulk tray because they were afraid of GWs legal team. (this is supposition) They called it... yes, "Popular Corridor Space Game Foam Kit" Easily my favorite product name in their catalog. I lol'd heartily when I first saw it. Inquisitor Wall
Im sure you could do a custom tray set through Battlefoam. Now you have me thinking that it might be a nice way to finish filling in my 720 for Malifaux.
deadboy
I'm already doing that with some spare pluckfoam I had around the office. I'll post pics when I finish.
