twenty4seven
I'm wondering if anyone's had any experience running or playing in a Malifaux achievement league? How did everyone respond to the format? Was it successful in generating more Malifaux buzz? I'm working on drumming up some more excitement for Malifaux at the local store and it seemed like a fun way to go about running a league. Buhallin
We finished one a couple of months ago, and it was a great hit. We had a regular league night, with pretty much every player showing up consistently. It's a great way to get games going. Too many competitive league formats actually discourage players from playing; there's never a downside to playing a game in an achievement league. I've tweaked our rules a bit and will be starting a new one for the month of August in our area, and look forward to another month of Malifaux. WookieeGunner
Do you mind sharing your rules? Looking at trying to get something like this set up in my area as well.
snord
I will answer you next month... our achievements league starts next Monday and will run for 4 weeks. The main discussion point for us was between running single faction versus open faction. New players have usually a single crew and prefer single faction, while older players usually have multiple crews from multiple factions and so prefer open faction. Our compromise was to allow multiple factions, but the faction needs to be chosen before the game (before flipping strategy). We also added an achievement that gives players achievement points if they play all games with the same faction to balance out the ability of multi-faction players being able to complete faction specific schemes from multiple factions. Everything else was well received by players so far. twenty4seven
Thanks for the responses! I really like both of the formats that snord and Buhallin are running and will probably use some culmination of the both of them. Buhallin, I hope you don't mind but I'm going to use the first page of your doc as the basis for a flier to put up in the local shop as I'm not so photoshop savvy. Buhallin
Well, credit where it's due for the flier - Ratty provided links for the fonts, and I stole the logo and Jack off his page too. Other than that, it's just MS Word So given that I stole most of it, you're more than welcome to continue the trend
twenty4seven
Haha that Rat knows where it's at. Keep me posted on how the league turns out. I wish I was in the area, those are some pretty sweet prizes you're offering for the tournament.

I'm sure the person stuck compiling the score would appreciate the time it saves. The second page is meant to be printed double sided, triple folded so it can be stored in a ranking format. edonil
Oooo...I like what you did Buhallin. I think I shall steal it for September. Although the prizes are probably going to change. This seems like an excellent way to get new players involved and playing.
