IntereoVivo
Greetings. I'm new to Malifaux (coming from 40K) and have picked up a December Cult box to get myself started. My main opponent runs a Victoria crew with an emphasis on Freikorps mercs. Am I right in my understanding that any model with Freikorps armor is immune to Raspy? Also, I know the Trapper does extra damage to Constructs (most of my army at this point) but is there anything else I need to be especially worried about? Thanks, and looking forward to talking with all of you more.
CannonFodder
The armor only blocks 1 damage per shoton direct hits, I think they have something that avoids damage which is a strength of Raspy, It does not make him completely immune. The trapper won't destroy your army, his primary job is to get an early shot on something that will be a pain to his army. This way to model he attacks need to play a bit more defensively avoid the opportunistic shot, which he would be able to take before hand. Fog
Raspy loses a ton of punch against the Friekorps. They reduce any damage she deals with her spells by 2 and they ignore damage from blasts, auras and pulses. Rely heavily on your ice pillars to control the flow of the game--the entire friekorps needs severe damage to break one. I'd suggest picking up a solid beater like Joss and use him to take some heat off of Rasputina. I've had a pretty reasonable record against our local friekorps player with Tina though I typically end up pretty well killed off but up on VPs. Objective denial is a good thing. CannonFodder
They reduce any damage she deals with her spells by 2 Why 2. I don't have my book in front of me but I recall they have the equivalent of armor 1, not 2. As for the blasts, most people who know raspy know not to bunch up too much, and considering they are ranged, they don't need to. So the blasts would not do to much. I usually don't take the Ice Gamin or Ice golem which would be an issue if you are. I would look at removing the essence of power vs them and look at wendigo. The extra is mostly for cheating severe for the . having an extra model to cast the damage spell and more range is probably better, than boosting her to a higher level. Aslo read this post on Myranda, I think she good with raspy now. She can spray some serious damage out, on her higher mobility.
SgtoSunshine
The armor they have grants them Armor 1, Magic Resistance 1, and immunity to all damaging blasts, aura, and pulses. I think the damage is reduced by two because Armor reduces any incoming damage by 1 (I think) with the other 1 point coming from the magic resistance. Raspy loses almost all of her kill power against them. Thusly when I play against this player I usually swap to Ramos or Colette. I don't have any of the arcanist beasts yet which I am sure would help with things too, but I honestly feel the matchup is bad enough to not walk into it. CannonFodder
In that case I agree its a little steep to go against. But you can always Dec Chill them down with auto overpower, but its not consistent enough to rely on, and limited to one target. When the Gunsmith comes out I think 2 will be standard with Raspy. It would help deal with this.
Mekboy
One big problem I find against the Freikorps is that with everyone wearing armour, Bite of Winter doesn't have any effect. December's Chill does help wear them down, but it's only one model a turn. The specialist is also pretty annoying, as both ice gamins and golems are less than WP 6, and so get negaive to hit him. I tend to try and just block off important targets with Ice Pillars.
