How long do your Malifaux games take? Whenever my wife and I play we can't seem to get a 35 soulstone game wrapped up in less than 3-4 hours. Is that typical, our are we just too slow?

At the store, we go around 1-2 hours a game.

Our tournaments are usually 90 mins a game.

And those are games that go all six rounds? Wow, we need to pick up the pace I guess...

Yep, we usually play all 6 rounds, unless someone tables their opponent by round 4, and then we generally give them 1 extra round to complete any schemes/strategies.

The more you play the quicker games get. Although some people just enjoy playing slower and BS'ing while they play.

yup, more games make for faster games. decisions don't seem as important when you know you can fit in another game as well.

I have been toying with the idea of using my chess clock for games as well. Go over your hour of time? spend a soul stone for 5 minutes... don't have a soulstone? no turn for you!

Yup, that would be me.

It takes me around 3 hours as well. I like to chat a lot and take my time. Guess its all matter of preference.

My games usually take about 1-2 hours. I like to hat and hang out while I play. For tournaments I think we do 90 minutes.

Yeah I think you will naturally speed up, to start with it would take our group like 3 hours for a 25ss game whereas now we can play 35 in under 90mins

Oh you can test my trash talking, I am a master of it. Not very good at the game though, I lose a lot.

I still feel 90min is too short (although it can done) for game. 2h is perfect for a relaxed 35ss game.

3 hours is a little long, but in my LGS 90 min is very short. We had a couple tournaments and out of a total of 9 games I think 1 finished to turn 6. This also depend on the tactics people take, if they are running into each other to kill each other off then its easily 90 min. I have one game 35 SS with my colette vs Hamelin and in the first 4 turns the only losses were 2 rat catchers, nix. Last 2 turns all of the rats & stolen died and a summoned rat catcher, and my duet was made insignificant. This was only done because the need of grabbing objectives forced hamelin to stretch out, and spread to thin to take advantage of his benefit of bringing back everything.

That was a long game, but it was 90% tactics and placement with strategic attacks vs mass damage.

because of the game legnth and the play style our LGS is moving to organized play (league) vs tournaments to promote the game.
