Visquaz
Hi everyone I'm new to the game so this will be both my introduction and my showcase. I heard of Malifaux a couple of months ago from a warhammer forum and got interested. The I was at a convention in Sweden (where I live) and got to see the actual models and got a quick rules summary of the game there. I bought both books (and the Rules manual is on the way), then me and a couple of friends decided to test it out. I haven't even played a game yet, but the rules seems fun and the models are great! After a bit of hesitating I selected Ramos as my first master, I bought the box, a Brass Arachnid and an Electrical creation. I also blatantly stole the idea of magnetizing the spiders to form both swarms and individual spiders, so creds to all of you who did it better before me! Having been a Warhammer Fantasy player for quite a while I really like modeling and painting and I have bits for both fantasy and some 40k to draw from. So, anyway, here is the crew in it's current state: Swarm 1: Individual spiders: Swarm 2: Individual spiders (1 isn't done because I need more 30mm bases): Brass Arachnid: Electrical Creation: Steamborg Executioner: Ramos: Enjoy! /Visquaz
Jaslyne
I love how you did the bases and magnets for a lot of these models are amazing since some require swarms or base swapping. Can't wait to see them painted
Kretcher
nice looking bases there, as Jaslyne said looking forward to see the painted version later on.
dgraz
Really characterful basing. Your magnetizing is perfect - only if you look really hard can you even catch a glimpse of some of the magnets - they're virtually invisible. Can't wait to see them painted. osoi
Nice work with the basing, lets see some paint!
gru6y
Yeah, very imaginative. Will have to steal some of the ideas when I start working on my Ramos
Dwug
Well done. I wish I had done that with my arachnids. Maybe with the next pack.
mistercactus
Really nice basing work. Welcome to the forum!
AvatarForm
Good choice on a first Master. Ramos is solid and has a wealth of available lists for you to learn. I would enjoy seeing your crew painted up. Will you be adding Joss or others to this list?
Lord Shaper
Looking really good! If only I had as many bits to use hehehehe I can't wait to see them painted
Visquaz
Thank you all! And sorry for the lack of updates, I haven't really had the time these last weeks. I did have the time to play a first game though, and damn was it fun! (even though I got beat) We are still playing with just book 1, but the first thing I'll add when we start using Rising Powers is to add a Mobile Toolkit. I was really unlucky with my Tomes so could just summon 2 Arachnids during the intire game. I also bought a Renegade Steamfitter Johan, and will probably add a Joss at some stage. Tthen I used Ratty's Card Creator to make custom cards for my Arachnids and Swarms. Great tool, thank you Ratty! Anyway, I started trying to get some models painted. First I tried out with metal colors, but it got so boring so I decided to try something different. (also I was too lazy to strip the test model after the experiment so the paint is now a bit thick) So, what do you guys think, will the color scheme work? thatnicguy
Nice clear photos! Nice work on tiny Figs! Looks good
Deadpool
Good job, and Welcome to the forums! Ramos is great master, one of my favorite, second only to Lady J. (Don't tell him that though) One thing about Ramos is that for every bit of him being good in the game he is also unforgiving. And I look forward to seeing more. Stargazer
Looking good bud I like what you have done with the bases and I think the colour scheme looks good and contrasts nicely with the rust on the bases.
bbb
These look great!
Visquaz
Thanks guys! I was very happy with how they turned out. Now I just have to match this somehow on the Steamborg and Electrical Creation... The rest of the Arachnids are now finished (although when I cut the pictures I saw that there was a smudge of yellow on one leg so I will fix that) Hope you like them as well, and hopefully there will be more soon. thatnicguy
Love the one reaching out! Very spider like, have you got multiples for your swarm base and have painted/posed them to look like the others or have you very skillfully devised a method to detach an reattach from the small bases and onto the larger bases? Visquaz
They are all magnetized, and I thought I'd actually share a bit of how. I only had 5mm Rare Earth Magnets at home (since that is what I use under each base for all my Warhammer Fantasy armies) and since some of the debris that I wanted to attach spiders to was very delicate I employed two different solutions. In some of the pieces I screwed in a metal screw and then just but the magnet on (or in) the base. In some I put the magnet in the piece with the spider and just a piece of thin metal on the base. Here are the swarm bases without models: Base 1, this one has all the magnets on the base Base 2, this one just has metal pieces on it. And here are the bottom of the spiders for base 1, with screws in them: And the spiders for base 2, with magnets in them:
thatnicguy
Ha! I picked it that that spider that's reaching off the 40k terrain column was the sane on both bases and it had to be magnets or pinned in place and not glued but that is flawless!! Well done disguising the joins! That is fantastic
Visquaz
Small update, I managed to get my Electrical Creation painted today. I also finished a 3rd swarm of magnetized spiders, so will take some pictures of that tomorrow.
Deadpool
Keeping up the good work love the swarm bases. Can't wait to see the electrical creation.
Visquaz
As another small update I thought I'd share one of the custom stat cards I made for my Arachnids. I know I could edit the picture a bit to make it even better, but my knowledge of Photoshop is severly limited beyond "select magic wand" - "select background" - "reverse selection" - "copy-past into Ratty's excellent stat card template". Anyway, here it is.
Visquaz
And here are some pics of the 3rd swarm (yes, I finally got my Chemical Plant Construction Set from Pegasus)
Manicmac
I'd like to see those up close! But not across the table from me. . . Great job!!
thatnicguy
Hey I just got that set off a friend to use for terrain! I thought I recognized it! They look great love how animated the arachnids can look
