Lussuria
Plastics hurt my soul - I have no idea why. But at least Wyrd plastics are up there in quality. And really, I more want her for her beautiful sad puppy expression Yes, my Arcanist collection is slowly building! But there's a few from other groups I want just because reasons. *grin*
Mister Monkey
Yeah if given the option I prefer metal to plastic..... Mainly play the arcanists then Lussuria?
Lussuria
Yea my main guys are Marcus and his box crew. Not that I've actually had any proper games of it yet *sigh* . No one I know knows how to play it properly - and the only guys in my area that I do know play it semi-regularly are never around the Wargaming club when I'm free. So I continue to build up my Arcanist so when I can play some proper games of it with people - I already have them painted up to try out.
edonil
Well, I do have a bit of an advantage on the issue, Monkey, lol. (sigh) I should probably work on the Ice Golem while I'm debating colors on the Wendigo. Damn thing. >.>

edonil
Ah, Marcus. Never did get into his stuff, although that might change with his new box. ---------- Post added at 04:21 AM ---------- Previous post was at 04:20 AM ---------- Hey Steam. (waves) I'm painting! It's the end of the world! o.o Seriously, how much I've gotten done this week, it's gotta fall under some kind of apocalyptic sign. How's you? Adran
I might be wrong, but I think the Rasputina Avatar was entirely in Resin. Don't know where that places it on your scale. The others are all metal (other than Luna as has been said)
SteamHammer
You're getting a lot more painting done than I am these days. ---------- Post added at 09:22 AM ---------- Previous post was at 09:21 AM ---------- I think avatar Raspy had a couple of metal bits like the head of the golem. edonil
Resin body, head and the claw hand are metal. Need to get that painted too...plus, I'm going to be working on painting up a Silent One at some point. ---------- Post added at 04:23 AM ---------- Previous post was at 04:23 AM ---------- Eh, you beat me out the rest of the year on painting, Steam, so you're good, lol. Lussuria
Why do they sometimes cast the model in 2 materials? Is there a benefit to doing that?
Lussuria
Yea, Mr Monkey! Oooone day! I was going to try to see if someone wanted to skype with me and play a game on Vassal sometime - just so I can learn the rules and then teach my friends.....but I can't even work out Vassal correctly. Bahahaha.
edonil
I think you'll be good until December, Steam. *wink* Hey, maybe you can help. Skin tone on the Wendigo, blue with grey fur, or grey with brown fur?
Adran
Oops, its been a while since I looked at it unpainted :Smug_Puppet1: I just remember that it is pretty light to pick up.
edonil
Why do they sometimes cast the model in 2 materials? Is there a benefit to doing that? Resin is more fussy, but holds finer detail. It also tends to be cheaper for large pieces than metal, but resin is more expensive than metal to make the molds, if I remember right. Doing metal for bits that are smaller but can't stay on (the head and claw) keeps the cost down.
SteamHammer
Blue with grey to fit in with the rest of the crew.
edonil
Can do. Let's me use brown for the poor dead guy. Thanks!
SteamHammer
And those avatar models would weigh a ton if they were all metal. Sonnia's heavy enough with a large resin flame dragon.
edonil
No kidding! Snowstorm too, that model is mostly resin and it's heavy!
Adran
Why do they sometimes cast the model in 2 materials? Is there a benefit to doing that? They did it with some of the larger models, most of the body was cast in resin, which is much cheaper by weight than metal, and then the rest was in metal. I don't know what advatages they had with metal over resin on the smaller parts, possibly just more experience (or finer detail, or easier to reuse mis-casts).
