Mister Shine
Yeah, I'd complain about using US/CAD conversion rates from 20 years ago, but they appear to still consider you a prison colony

edonil
I'm afraid that they don't know why they're losing sales...
Mister Monkey
It is kind of scary, still, works for the players of the smaller games who are picking up the players looking for something new...
edonil
I think GW might be looking for an excuse to shut down that market... But, it is definitely good for anyone else willing to step in.
Mister Shine
Well, my friend who owns one of the stores I hench at used to be a manager at the GW before they closed it down and fired him cause why would you find a place for someone who's been with the company for over a decade? Anywho, basically GW doesnt need to care about keeping the player base, their marketing strat is grab people on a one time buy of either the box set or starter army and blisters. Thats where great swathes of their money come from, and of course its a horrible self defeating marketing tactic but HerpDerpGW
Mister Monkey
You do have to wonder.... Warmachine is now becoming the largest game at a number of events now....
Mister Shine
Not surprising, Im sure the money will follow. Then GW will become a toxic asset and they'll try to sell, but the only people who'll wanna buy it are old gamers who'll have to rebuild it from the ground up, making it a shining beacon of gaming again, so much so that it attracts investors who eventually decide that money should be the key focus and the company will start to suffer and wuhoh ive gone crosseyed
Mister Monkey
Good thing there are so many companies coming up to fill the void in gamers lives then....

edonil
Crap, I did forget about Infinity, didn't I? Sorry about that...never got into the game, but love the models. Every now and then, I'm tempted to buy one of the mechs for the hell of it... ---------- Post added at 03:18 AM ---------- Previous post was at 03:18 AM ---------- That is true, then you got all the others, we seem to be in a gaming renaissance at the moment *grin* It is a good time to be a gamer. Mister Monkey
Yeah like a lot of the infinity stuff, but most guys I know are not keen on the rules....
Jonas Albrecht
I really wish I could start playing it. It's got so many concepts that I'd love to give a test drive. Particularly hidden models and the reaction system.
edonil
Yeah, both of those looked really interesting. The problem for me is that no one was interested in a game that 'complex'...which always made me laugh, because it's a lot less complicated than your average RPG. Mister Monkey
The biggest problem I see at the moment, is there are almost too many games and in our area at least there seems to be a scramble to get your favorite on top ... this leads to a few of our players being unwilling to even look at anything new. edonil
I'd rather have your situation than mine. Rather than too many new games, we have none. The wargamers are digging in their heels and saying 'Screw you!' to even the mention of a non-40k game.
Mister Monkey
We have one club that is very much like that too.... not open to anything new.... Its the guys I talk to who tell me how good 40k is and how it is the best game out there, and yet when you ask what else they have tried they reply nothing .... they are the ones that both cause me to laugh and despair
edonil
What's funny is that the most diehard of the 40k players don't even seem to really like the game, they just won't play anything else. But they'll feel free to rant and rave over what sucks in 40k and in the games they haven't played.
Mister Monkey
Ha ha that is so true .... I remember asking why we had to play such large points in the GW games at tournaments, why cant we play smaller games... and being told dont be silly, before they went back to moaning about all the broken things you can do at high points levels....
edonil
Personally, I've never minded 2000 points (our standard). What drove me nuts was that no one wanted to do anything other than tournaments. Except the handful of people trying to do 5000 points in 4 hours. Mister Shine
Infinity has a complex rule system until you realize you dont have to memorize it. Don't know what all three levels or airborne deployment do? Did anyone actually take any? Dont worry about it! If they did? All the rules are on their wiki. I have an app on my cell for it.
