Dirial Posted September 14, 2015 Report Share Posted September 14, 2015 I'm not an expert writer, but I find long, elaborate fight scenes to be jarring to read. (Talk about the Drizzt books. Eurgh.) Focus on the psychological side instead. Make the protagonists panic, assess threat, scramble, act on the fly, fear their opponent, curse their mistakes. But also try to tell it from the point of view of the character, their assessing the fight, looking for opportunities etc.Or simply just shoot them! Eight mechs later, I think I just need a few more, probably 4, and I am done. Plus three hardcover books. Had to go clean the old apartment before handing keys back to building management, so that was kinda stressful. Sunday was nice and slow.
