Sholto
Making them gold, silver and bronze seemed like an obvious idea with this trio. I found myself with some painting time today, so here they are:-
Ratty
Hmm. I really like that idea
Tadow2
Love them!! Really like the pink smoke effects and the decorated cards. And the birds look amazing too! Can I hire you to paint my doves if I ever get any? lol
Animal
Nice, I like the detail you got on the cards for the one. I mean it's not like it was done by the people who originally made it who have some ungodly laser paint applier that can give them perfect detail, but still very nice for what ya had to work with I'm guessing. Turelio
It's a good idea, and you have done very well with it. The weathering on the bronze dove and the smoke on the gold one are both good at catching the eye.
LoboStele
Very cool idea. I really like how you got the green corrosion on the bronze one as well. I might need to keep that in mind for some of my other constructs. How did you do the green, if I might ask? It looks like it has a bit of texture to it...just thick paint? Sholto
Thanks, guys. The playing cards are not perfect, but they look good enough unless you get silly close. Very cool idea. I really like how you got the green corrosion on the bronze one as well. I might need to keep that in mind for some of my other constructs. How did you do the green, if I might ask? It looks like it has a bit of texture to it...just thick paint? I always thin my paints - the texture will be the drybrushing. The bronze was done by:- 1. Basecoating with GW Dark Angels Green; 2. Heavy overbrush with Vallejo Charred Brown; 3. Drybrush with mix of Charred Brown and Dark Flesh; 4. Light drybrush of mix of #3 and Polished Gold. That's cool, but I was asking more about the green corrosion, not the bronze itself.
Sholto
That's what I thought you meant. The green corrosion is the DA Green basecoat, but I figured if I told you that and said nothing more, you might not get the answer you were looking for. mechaace
They're looking pretty nice, I look forward to having them used against me in the future with your tricky crew.

Very cool method for pulling that off. <writes down in mental database for future painting>
