jmp_mydog
I've been busy working on a Mountain Mining town. Just posted pics of my Miners & Steamfitters Local 400, hot springs and some Ice Pillars. Other then the typical trees, rocky outcrops and campsites, what would you picture a out-of-the-way mining operation to have?
DeafNala
If you REALLY want to go NUTS...from my perspective going NUTS can be a LOT of FUN, you might consider some narrow guage railroad tracks & attendant buildings. :guns:
jmp_mydog
I've been considering that, waiting to see what the black friday sale will be at Toy R Us. Last year they had a kids railroad that was the perfect size for under $10.
paperbag4
You'd have to make pumpcars and hoppers for the tracks. Any mining town worth the name has an establishment to relieve the miners of what they find. It also builds a reason for Seamus to show up. If it's a more established operation, you need a lifthouse to run the ore elevators (which would make for a strategic location for a campaign). jmp_mydog
That makes sense. It seems like a small, newish dig would have more of the bare necessities though.
AmishLuvah
How did you make those slate-like boulders?
jmp_mydog
Pine bark mulch. It's an old terrain makers stand-by. Works great for terrain, not so much for it's intended purpose as it attracts ants (according to my exteminator)
vtol
Terrain looks great! How about a rickety wooden water tower? I think that would fit right in.
capcap
Good job on the Terrain. I like the buildings, especially. I'm considering doing something like these myself for a table. Maybe a whole town section. Going to get some balsa in various sizes as that is easy to work.
thewartoad
Very cool terrain!
jmp_mydog
I've added some photos of the tree stands, mountain outcrops and campsites. It's interesting trying to recreate mountains without creating huge elevations. I want to make sure that this terrain is easy to transport. I've found that my actual miniature only take up a tray or two in my motorpool bag so sticking standardized terrain in there is no problem.
