wyrdmothershutyourmouth
Can anyone teach a newbie how to pin a mini? I'm bound and determined to paint some metal. But I don't want it falling apart after I do.
Draykin
get yourself a small bit (.032") and a pin vice. drill a small hole in one part to be pinned (about 2 mm) then put a small ball of blue tack or poster tack on the other part. (make sure to wet the part with the hole in it or the tack will stick) press the two together and when you pull them appart you will have a little guide of where to drill the next hole. place a paper clip or brass rod into the hole and snip it off long enough that it all fits nicely. a bit of glue between the parts and you are done. Angus Khan
If you don't want to go to all that trouble on small, fiddly parts, you can use Gorilla Brand Super Glue and get a really strong bond. (I was talking to someone who had been doing dioramas for years and he said he doesn't even need to pin, the glue holds so well. I've used it, and it is so far holding my Ice Golem together beautifully. On larger models, though, pinning is probably the way to go! )
AoM
Wait, Nathan won't share his secrets with you? Eric won't either? That's no good at all.
Nathan Caroland
Nathan and Eric don't have time anymore. One of these days though I'm sure.
