Nathan Caroland
The latest installment of Harry Potter. Personally - I like the hell out of them and the kids do as well (I would go see them without the kids truth be known). Interesting seeing these kids growing up on screen though! http://movies.aol.com/movie_exclusive_harry_potter_goblet_clip/trailer_extra_large
EricJ
the girl is going to be a hottie when she grows up! I like the movies too, means I don't have to ready the darn books
Gonzoangel
aaah, they grow up so quickly...... looks great, they get darker and darker each movie, can't wait.
Nathan Caroland
I do like the fact that things tend to get darker. I was reading somewhere that the author did an interview and said by the sixth book (I think that was the one) that a major character will die and that things get decidedly more 'deadly gruesome'. Visuals are always nice of course! BTW, what book is she on now - fifth one published?
Gonzoangel
She's up to #6 - "Harry Potter and the half blood prince", came out at the beginning of this year I believe and quite a good read according to my better half. Nathan Caroland
Huh - must be the seventh book then she said someone is supposed to die. Bugger if I really know - just caught it in passing.
Celtic Lilly
I have yet to read any of the books or see the movies. Any good at all? Looked a bit too 'kid' orientated and I've just stayed away from them.
Gonzoangel
I've not read any of the books, but my wife has read them all and loved them, although did say the last one became a bit tedious to get through. We've seen all the movies to date, and although they did start off "kid like", they start getting darker as they progress through the years. LeadAsbestos
Big dead guy came in #6, Half-Blood Prince. If you don't know, I won't tell you who, but it made the girl across the street cry...
EricJ
I think it's good she's ending this at 7 books, and doesn't have "robert jordonitis" I have to say I look forward to the movies way more than the books, 2 hours is about the amount of time I'm happy to give them. Nathan Caroland
Is she actually ending them at seven or just killing someone off? I'm curious now. As for Robert Jordan - god yes, that man is a mess when it comes to his books. The first six were good, after that, I've lost interest, though I understand they get interesting again at book 10. Just don't feel like finding out so terribly much (heh). I would like to see a condensed movie on the Wheel of Time series though!
Sakura
Meh, she ruined my favourit char. But I hope I'm wrong and it was just a clever plot-twist. As far as I know, the books will end with the 7th. And if I may guess, Potter will die. It seems the only logical conclusion.
Nathan Caroland
Who is your favorite character? As for the rest - well, I haven't read the books at all and my only experience with the Potter series is through the movies so I guess I'll have to wait and watch. Sakura
I just LOVE Severus Snape. Just don't like him to be the bad guy. And he's even better in the movies. *Droll*
anatora
Snape is my favorite too. I don't think he turned bad in the last movie...my take is that the headmaster knew he was dying, and hatched a plan with S. Snape to do him in as it fit into the whole theme of giving more power to Harry to finish off the bad guy in the next books. No way could Snape be that bad. Besides I love that actor. Nathan Caroland
I'm assuming this happened in the books because I don't remember anyone getting hacked off in the movies.
Sakura
Yes, that was in the new book. But if Snape isn't bad, well, he promised to help kill Dumbledor, or do it for Malfoy, and I don't think Dumbledore could forsee his own death so far in the futur...all very strange...I guess he was a double-spy all the time after all. I think the clue was all the references to the arm that wouldn't heal. I still think Snape is a good 'bad guy' and did what Dumledore asked him to do even when it involved killing him. What better way to convince all that he was still his "master's" servant and what better way to softened the way for Harry to finish the prophesy?
