ChirpOTK
Hi, me and a few friends have recently started malifaux, our experience is mostly warmachine and warhammer. We absolutely love the world and rules for the game, but one big sticking point we seem to have is that so many models exist, or rules for models that are exclusive and unobtainable anymore. My ffriend plays neverborn and wants dark carnival and smoke and mirrors. will gencon exclusives be exclusive forever, or will they maybe release a non special edition later on, or is this just an aspect of the game that we don't get to enjoy? Lucidicide
Almost everything available in plastic is made available again, either in special sales or as prizes. Almost every single limited shows up in prize kits, too. There are usually numerous ways to get them, but as they are limited releases, it won't be regular chances. As a side note, Dark Carnival/Smoke and Mirrors are not Neverborn, so your friend may want to look at other sets or a different Faction!
Bengt
Also note that exclusive models are versions of regular models, e.g. Dark Carnival uses the same rules as Smoke and Mirrors (which is a regular release). So you are, if you can't get hold of these models, loosing out of the aesthetic, not the game play.
ChirpOTK
Okay that's makes much more sense! Thank you everyone. That information was hard to find!
Flinroz
There are some fan made neverborn stats for the Dark carnival floating around on google. Not sure if that was what caused the confusion. I know this because I was confused about the same thing when I started.

Every single LE model is simply an alternate model. The rules are not unique. So while you may have missed out on, for example, The Dark Carnival, Smoke and Mirrors is an identical set. The only LE release that is not identical with rules is The Wild Ones, which simply has a different combination of units to McCabes Treasure Hunters crew box. They are all available as standard models. The only time you get models that no one else can get is when Wyrd do early releases at Gencon. However, the rules are all in the relevant book and you can proxy them with suitable models until the official models find their release date. This is something I really appreciate. Nothing limited gives you an unfair advantage, they're all just different models.
