Toshiro summoning Komainu

I'm just getting back into Malifaux after a long absence.

I'd like to use Toshiro in a Resser gang but wondered if he'd be allowed to summon Komainu with his Command the Graves upgrade, as they are not part of the same faction?

As far as I know, faction restrictions are solely used in the Hiring a Crew phase, or aspect of the game. Once you are in the game proper, as it were, there is nothing preventing you being able to summon or utilize any model that the rules allow you to.

 

A case in point, assuming little to no changes occurred after the Public beta test was over, would be Lizzy Lovelace/ Missingno/ Ada ?????, the Resser Henchman who is also has the Freikorps characteristic. At last beta her casting action had triggers to allow the summoning of both Mindless Zombies and Seishin. As she, as of the last beta test, had the Mercenary characteristic, this will allow all factions the ability to summon Mindless Zombies and Seishin, as there is no rule, to my knowledge, that would prevent that.

 

Summon the mechanical puppies all you want.

Ok, I'm pleased with that answer.

I'm not so concerned about summoning Komainu, I want to frustrate my Ramos playing opponent by using up the scrap tokens.

Ramos won't like that. But yeah you can totally do that.

Not like Ramos struggles to get the scrap he needs. Joss can work his marker multiplication on summoned Komainu just fine... But it lets you control the flow of action a bit.
