  1. Of course I’ve heard of Gencon, but have never attended, nor researched it much. I have only been a gamer for about 3 years, and I live nowhere near Indianapolis. I knew it was a big gaming show, but other than that, not too educated on it. I know a little bit more about Las Vegas Open, but only cause it’s closer to home and several people I know go there every year for the 40k and Star Wars Legion tournament. That being said, I didn’t know that Wyrd actually sold product direct there. In most industry trade shows (NAMM, SHOT, etc.) manufacturers are just there to showcase their product and secure orders from distributors and retailers, not to bring stock to sell to the general public. In fact, you have to have credentials in the appropriate industry to gain access to the trade shows (I would love to go to a NAMM, but I don’t have the credentials). After your explanation, I assume that Gencon is public, so that’s a little out of the norm for a trade show. But thanks for explaining. Maybe I’ll have to try it out one day.
  2. You’re reading into that incorrectly I believe. “Choose a buried model”, though italicized, is not considered a “cost”. Costs are not the only items that can be italicized. Costs are things like Discard a Card, Spend a Soulstone, etc. that require you to spend, take damage, or require some sort of resource. If you read further, you will see this(copied from rules): Special Restrictions In addition to costs, special restrictions are also written in italics and restrict the Trigger in some way, such as limiting the Trigger so that it may only be declared if the target is an enemy model. ”Choose a buried model” is considered a Special Restriction, not a cost. Read further, and under Trigger Timing, you will see that “Choose a buried model” will occur after resolving the Pine Box action (copied from rules): “If a Trigger does not list a timing, it is treated as an After succeeding Trigger.” At that point, if you succeed with Pine Box, the enemy model is buried and can be the target of the trigger. Hope that helps.
  3. Can someone enlighten me on something? I have seen numerous posts on here referring to Gencon, mostly about Gencon being an excuse for the delayed product. I have never been to it or anything like it, but I assume it is basically a trade show for the manufacturers to showcase their products? I also understand they run tournaments. How would this event have any correlation or relevance to the manufacturing/ distribution delay?
  4. Wow, ok. Seems like this edition has really watered down everything; and those abilities/ actions that are still good now require resources to pull off, whether it be a TN, discard, etc. With that, I guess the Pine Box will only be good for getting the Recruiter ranged attack, or taking an already activated model and relocating it a move away.
  5. Doesn’t Pine Box cause you to lose an activation if you haven’t activated yet? Or am I thinking of 2e?
  6. I’ve yet to play a 3e game yet, but I’ve been studying the Marshalls, and I think at least one DM recruiter should be in a crew. They can attack buried models regardless of LOS and range. Get a few DMs or Emissary, etc. to pine box a few enemies, then attack with the recruiter from a safe distance. As as far as Lone Marshall, I used to love that model in 2e. He could push shoot and push. Now, he’s a little dry. I’d more favor the Pale Rider, all because of ride with me. He can get Lady J I to the right position. Unfortunately, as you stated, the big drawback to Lone Marshall is the lack of ride with me, which every other horse model seems to have except him. Bummer.
  7. Beta? Meaning test play period I assume? If so, I guess you mean it’s no longer an ability for her. Sorry, not in tune with all the lingo yet. I’m still trying to figure out who Waldo is. I assume it’s not the guy with glasses you try to pick out of a crowd in a picture in “Where’s Waldo?”
  8. There are a couple of Marshall models that can make enemy models have the Undead characteristic. One is the Domador I believe. I think the other might be the Exorcist. Those would be crucial for the rest of your crew to capitalize on the undead buffs.
  9. I was just watching some YouTube videos talking about crews in M3e. The one that discussed Journalist crews talked about Nellie’s biggest strength was to hand out “Press Releases”. I finally got my faction pack, and I cannot seem to find this action anywhere on her card or other journalist cards, nor any upgrades. Did I overlook or miss something?
  10. Was not intended as a complaint, was intended as a quest for information. I do not frequent forums much, I did not know of the announcement section. I posed the questions about the lack of product because my local store said they have no clue as to why the haven’t received product, and that Wyrd will not inform them of why. So I turned to here. I will look into the announcement section next time when and if there are more delays.
  11. So you’re saying there is no longer any plastic injection molding manufacturing technology left in the USA, period? I also build scale model aircraft, and yes, the majority of the molds are made overseas. But with the high price (relative to scale model aircraft, tanks, etc) of gaming models, it would think the margin would exist to manufacture them here. For example, a Tamiya 1/48 F-14 (arguably one the most superb kits in the world from arguably the best model manufacturer) has hundreds of parts, massive detail, and expensive R&D, and that kit retails for around $100 US. A lot of gaming model kits go for well more than that with less R&D, less parts, and way less plastic. But I will acknowledge and agree with you, sending manufacturing overseas is a unfortunate and grim dilemma we have in this global economy. I don’t see it stopping even with tariffs. Companies will find a way around it. I find it so hard to believe that we can’t manufacture goods in this country anymore for a competitive price.
  12. Thanks, no wonder I couldn’t find it. I was combing through the Malifaux Discussion section trying to find it.
  13. Where are these updates you refer to? On this forum or their website? I must have overlooked it.
  14. Instead of relying solely on these evil distributors everyone keeps talking about, has Wyrd considered offering their products direct to the consumer? I buy a lot of my stuff from Warlord direct rather than through retailers (partially due to availability and my local store no longer carrying it, I always buy from local stores to support them when possible). A lot of manufacturers have their own web stores. Maybe Wyrd should consider it.
  15. Oh yeah, I forgot that Wyrd outsources their production to China. There is an easy solution to this problem. Manufacture your product in USA! Wyrd is a USA company, make it here! The whole purpose of the tariffs being imposed is to shift manufacturing back to the USA to restore those jobs lost to overseas. It is starting to work in some industries, hopefully it will in this case. I will gladly pay a few more dollars per model if it is made in my country and creating jobs. But I’ll leave it at that, as I’m not looking to get into a political speech or start any debates on here. Also, in an earlier post I mentioned GW as an example. Many of you said that is not a fair comparison. I play a few other games beside 40k from other manufacturers. Warlord, Fantasy Flight, etc. They do not seem to experience these issues either. I think Warlord makes all their product at home in the UK, not sure where Fantasy Flight is based or makes theirs.
  16. Since when do distributors dictate demand? Distributors are nothing more than a middle man to transfer a company’s product from manufacture to retailer. Manufacturers do their own analysis to determine demand to know how much product to produce. All distributors do is hold that product in warehouse to ship it out to retailers when they order it. They are nothing more than middle men. If there is a product shortage, that is on Wyrd for not analyzing the market properly. Companies will never mass produce a product without market research and knowing how many they will most likely sell. Businesses would never survive that way. So, that addresses the shortage of the first wave June products; now, how do we explain the absence of July release products? No one has received any of those at all yet, so can’t blame them on being sold out.
  17. What is Covenant Cast? A podcast or something? I’ll give it a look if I can. Not sure how it all works, but it makes a company look bad if their stuff is late, no matter who’s fault it is. You never see GW stuff not show up on time. If it did, they would drop that distributor like a bad habit. They have strict rules for their distribution and retailers.
  18. Well, after the botched rollout in June, looks like none of the retailers have any of the July releases yet, and today is August 1. Also, still no word on backordered rulebooks and faction packs. What the heck is going on Wyrd?
  19. Yeah, that sounds good, but need a cheaper model with Marshall keyword or Versatile, or 6ss or less since I’d have to add the 1ss tax. I’m surprised that the Lone Marshall doesn’t have ride with me. Need a way to get Lady Justice across the board turn 1 to do some punishment.
  20. I’ll be moving to Colorado in a few months, near Colorado Springs. Are there any Malifaux players in the area? I’d like to get in on the community there if so. Thanks!
  21. Back to the topic of getting places fast: ive been rumbling through my faction cards. I need a model that will provide a decent push or move to another model in my Marshall crew. The pale rider has the Ride with Me action, which is great, but he is too expensive. Is there a 7ss or less model that will give me a decent push, move, place, etc?
  22. Just got my faction packs. Finally! Just a heads up to those of you that have ordered the factions packs: The cards are huge! They are not standard size, so normal sleeves will not fit. Darn, and I already spent an hour de-sleeving my 2e cards for nothing, can’t reuse them on these. One last thing: There’s an upgrade card in the deck that says that after Turn 3 you can replace your Effigy with an Emissary. Did I read that right? If so that’s pretty gnarly. It also says that the new model heals 2. So I assume that means that if your effigy had suffered wounds, those wounds carry over to the emissary that replaces it, then heal up to 2 of those carried over wounds?
  23. So, been reading the new 3e cards. I’m glad they have tried to simplify the game, but at the same time, it seems the best abilities of my models have been deleted! Francisco no longer has “El Mayor”! Papa Loco does not have “Hold this!” The Pale Rider no longer gets a ram every turn, he gets a ram token that has to be spent, so you don’t get the benefit every turn. Also, Perdita is squishy now, down to Df 6 from 7. And last, my favorite, the Enslaved Nephilim no longer has “Shackled”! The family crew was pretty middle of the pack before, now they stink!
  24. Thanks for all the info folks. Just got confirmation that my faction packs have shipped. That cures that issue.
