  1. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e6qdFXoFIQk So i usually make game related videos but i was testing out some new sound hardware and just went to the first thing that came to mind and tried some new stuff with audio. I noticed some visual issues that only showed up after rendering but any critique on sound in particular is very welcome.
  2. Lotta folks hear 'new edition' of any tabletop game and instantly go 'well i dont know if this will be viable so ill not buy anything between announcement and release'. So you saw companies like GW start to put out free 'legacy rules' to fill the gap. They still expected folks to buy the new product but new keeping existing product tabletop viable is a real sink or swim thing.
  3. My biggest personal hope is a return to smaller crews. Some started to become militias full of duplicate nameless, faceless goons. Which is well and good for something like frostgrave but Malifauxs appeal is a small group of masters and named henchmen with only the bottom tier fodder being the nameless generic stuff you have copies of. I would rather see the structure lean more to "heres your base crew, and 5 different additional models for additional types of gameplay scenarios" over "its the max SS count so throw in everything and swarm them" 2nd turned into in my personal experience. I guess you could say model bloat is a victim of a business needing to keep selling models. But if you reduce the number a faction needs to be viable thats just more money the consumer can spend dipping into another faction which in the longrun means more potential for varied games instead of "gremlins vs neverborn.... and once in a blue moon something else" because people bought into the first thing they picked up and its 'too late' to spend the same amount of money starting again with another faction.
  4. Depending on where you are in the world crew boxes are reasonable on Amazon but unit boxes can get ridiculous. I was trying to get a one model box wyrd values around £12. After checking most UK sites i struggled to find it around £20 and on amazon it was listed as £65! You FLGS is always your best bet but again it depends where you are. The Wyrd site has a store checker if memory serves.
  5. "Guild" "Not Corrupt" Are we sure this is through the same breach and not some stargate style alternate timeline?
  6. McMourning now Ressurectionist only no longer Guild Lucas now Ten Thunders only no longer Guild 2 new guild masters Nicodem was killed by Lady Justice. Hes outright gone Tara now Outcasts only Jack Daw now Ressurectionist/Outcasts Lillith has been imprisoned and like nicodem is gone Collodi is not listed anywhere, no fluff reason known but appears to be gone Jacob Lynch now Ten Thunders only no longer Neverborn 1 new ressurectionist master Marcus now Neverborn as well as Arcanist 2 new Neverborn masters Hoffman now Guild as well as Arcanist Ramos in fluff imprisoned and removed Zipp now Outcast as well as Gremlins/Bayou Misaki only Ten Thunders, no longer Outcasts 1 new Ten Thunders master Brew Master is Gremlins/Bayou only, no longer Ten Thunders Dreamer described as 'grown up' and 'lord chompy bits' no longer mentioned. Some have fluff. Ramos in Prison, Nicodem dead. But a lot we don't know yet. From minor descriptions we can infer the Guild has had massive shakeups while the Ten Thunders have grown in power and influence while the Neverborn has seen older characters like Lilith imprisoned with her Sister taking her place.
  7. Might be personal taste but my biggest criticism with Malifaux 2nd Ed. over time was the fact that Crews steadily turned into Militias instead. When the game was sold to me it was basically 'wierd western meets gothic horror with small bands of named, individual units in a gang fighting small scale skirmish fights' and over time we saw more and more 'generics' that padded up games. It started with 'well for this situation you want 3 of X and this situation 4 of Y' and i've seen games go from 6-12 models up to as high as 30. Not only does that kind of kill the idea of it being a skirmish game on the tabletop but more to the point it makes it far more expensive to be able to play against others at FLGS type places. You buy a crew box and end up having maybe 15% of what you need to be 'viable in the meta' and paid maybe 10% of what you will pay by the end. This already happened before with Warmachine/Hordes. They started with Boxes with one hero, one or two large units and 3 or 4 small units. Now there are 'army boxes' with over 60 figures because over new editions unit bloat made it essentially become the same warhammer fantasy problem that contributed to the death of that game and nowadays 'Warmahordes' isn't doing much better. I imagine theres some people that like it but personally i feel like Malifaux should cut down on this. You have a crew box and maybe a few figures for a few different situations and mix and match based on the game set up. That way you can have the free time -and money- to make multiple small crews and go 'okay today im playing Neverborn instead of Ten Thunders' and not be just cobbling together a few you have on the side to try and make something viable. Rather than feel like another warhammer lite where every few months i'm buying new figures because new product was put out to change the meta and slowly see all the players i know drop the game from upkeep fatigue and move off to games sticking to the small scale skirmish idea.
  8. Yeah i picked up the larger 2E book with all the fluff in it. Looking online there are 4 books after. Are they just basically a card list for all the models added after? or do they add new scenarios and campaign ideas? -and if so is getting them in order expected or are some more recommended than others?
  9. Worst for me was Necrotic Machine. First time i've had to use tweezers on a model. Throw in translucent and i cannot imagine the nightmare of it. and then think about if the glue dried and fogged it up? yeesh!
  10. So i bought my first crew boxes (Shadows of Redchapel and Rail Crew) and after a few tutorial games at my FLGS i was told "hey man, just fyi you are gonna want to update your cards. Sure enough i check online and my Rotten Belles have been adjusted to have lower hp and Hard to Kill has been adjusted. Clearly i have some housekeeping to do with these boxes. My question is how do i make sure i'm consistent with it? I have been directed to wargamevault for physical prints since i bought the app on my phone already but would like to keep a physical copy on the table during play but one thing i can't find is a checklist of what needs changing. For example i bought the Rail Crew box. What cards for both characters and spells have been changed since that boxes release? unless i check on the app for every card one by one i can see changes but not when. So is there anywhere you can check for something like "bought X crew, cards Y and Z changed since release please update"? i've seen the Wyrd site has the latest changes but are the rest archived and searchable anywhere? -and secondly i have the 2E core rulebook and know there are two additional books. Is there any idea if a 3rd is on the way soon? and will they only include new models/crews or these updated character cards as well?
  11. So i'm new to the game, saw it for a couple of months at my local and decided to look into the fluff and it was up my alley so decided to jump in along with some friends. We aren't new to modelling however and when it came to making some bases we all had a difference of option. Friend 1 sees the game as more western than not and thinks all the bases should look the part. Friend 2 sees the game as more victorian and wants the bases to be purely more inner city not unlike Mordheim or Frostgave. Friend 3 sees the game as a mix and makes each individual model suit where she sees them being in game. E.g A gremlin on a bayou base, a rotten belle on grimy cobblestone for example. Personally i lean a little more to the latter. But maybe leaning more to a crew having a unified theme. Like taking the start kit doctor, nurse and orderlies and putting them on some old bioshock-ey grimy tiles and drains like an 1800's hospital room that all match the characters theme rather than them being guild models or 'western vs gothic city horror'. What's your personal take on custom bases? Do you prefer a theme for the model or for the games themes at large?
