Hey everyone, Normally we would have all of the event/tournament information and packets made available at this time for Adepticon. This year we’re trying something a little different, so it’ll be a little bit more time before we can get those out to you. In order to give you the reason why it’s taking longer than normal, we have to reveal a little secret: The M3E FAQ & Errata document is coming soon, as is Gaining Grounds Season One. The big thing here is that Adepticon’s Malifaux tournaments will be utilizing Gaining Grounds Season One Schemes and Strategies, as well as any other small adjustments in the upcoming document. Both of these documents are still in playtesting, but we should have both wrapped up by the end of this month. We ask that you all just wait a little bit longer while we fine-tune them both for a more positive experience in Malifaux and at Adepticon. Thanks for your patience! Hey Wyrdos, This week, Waldo decided to go on a diet: the seafood diet. He sees food and eats it! This Waldo’s Weekly opener is brought to you by Matt’s 4th-grade math teacher. So while we figure out how to write jokes again, let’s take a look at some new content for The Other Side! The Fields of Glory document is The Other Side’s yearly competitive update. Not only does it provide event organizers with beneficial information on how to improve their event and new ways to make it more enjoyable for a player, but it also includes new ways to play. This year’s Fields of Glory introduces four new Operations to The Other Side. Let’s take a look at the game types you’ll be able to play: Rocket Party: Ever wish you could play soccer with explosives? Well, now you can! Your objective is to launch the rocket (errr… Objective Marker) beyond the opposite side of the field (or in game terms, the opponent’s Deployment Zone) to blow it up. What’s better than setting off a fireworks display? Setting off a fireworks display in your neighbor’s yard (and getting points for it)! Trench Warfare: Imagine whack-a-mole in No Man’s Land and you’ve got yourself Trench Warfare. Place Objective Markers on your side of the table, destroy those on your opponent’s side, and see who’s left standing by the end of it! Slaughter Field: If you aim to do the most destruction in a game of the Other Side, then this one’s for you. It’s a bit of team deathmatch meets king of the hill, where each table quarter is your hill to die on. Get your points or die trying! Explosive Ordinances: This Operation takes how Objective Markers work and spins it on its head. Rather than fight or claim them on the battlefield, players will be packing them up alongside their units and traveling with them. Hey Wyrdos, As it turns out, suggesting that Waldo should get a pilot’s license was a mistake. He decided to take the scenic route in getting the third reprint of M3E’s Core Rules to us. That’s the last time we make him our tour guide and delivery man at the same time. Luckily, the wait is just about over. M3E Core Rulebooks and Fate Decks are once again back in stock. Over the last couple of days, we have been sending pallet loads back out to the distributors and they should be back into retail here shortly. Thank you!

Hey Wyrdos, 2019 was both an exciting and challenging time for us at Wyrd, and in 2020, we are looking for ways to improve and grow. One of the biggest obstacles we saw last year was getting our games onto store shelves through traditional means. To address this, we have begun the Direct to Retail program. If your brick and mortar local game store is having issues receiving our products, let them know that a new option is now available. If you are one of those stores that has experienced difficulty stocking any of our items, head over to our Direct to Retail page to find out more details, including how and where to sign up. The program is now live, but please allow for some time to go through the application process.

The benefits from volunteering depend from show to show, as well as the amount of coverage a volunteer is willing to help with. As we get closer to each show, we'll post details about shifts, schedules, and goodies. As in general help in a booth? While we might provide volunteer shifts like that for future shows, historically, that type of volunteering is generally only needed for Gen Con. The volunteer submission page on the Upcoming Shows page is more or less to get in early interest for those who already know that they will be attending and want to help out. We'll be making more specific callouts for exactly what we'll need when we get a little closer to the shows themselves.

Before the year ends, we thought it’d be a good idea to look toward the future. We just launched our Upcoming Shows page for 2020! We’ll be starting off the new year by heading to a show for the first time: the Las Vegas Open! There’s already a fantastic group of players that will be running tournaments and events there, so we’ll be accompanying them with demos for The Other Side and Malifaux. We’ll also be setting up a booth there, so you can scoop up some goodies while you’re waiting for the next game. It’s important to note that the Upcoming Shows page only currently details the shows we are already committed to, so keep an eye on that page for any more additional shows that may be added as 2020 moves forward. You’ll also notice that we have a Volunteer Sign Up sheet on that page, as well. Starting with Adepticon, we’re looking for volunteers to help out with events, demos, and general assistance in our booths. Hey Wyrdos, This week, Waldo thought he’d get ahead of the curve and gave out Christmas presents a little early. And this time, he even wrapped them. Where he got the newspaper from is a strange curiosity, and the blood splatter raises some questions, but we’re thankful all the same. So while he’s off playing with the trinkets and baubles he got everyone in the office, let’s take a look at the wrapping paper he used for one of the gifts. It seems that some stories can’t be contained in just the world of Malifaux. What sort of presents were you able to unwrap? How did Waldo get this paper (and from whom)?
