  1. Stop making me want to buy things! Seriously, though, those 360 degree gif jobbies are awesome.
  2. Hi all, Brian from the Critical Twits here. Our latest episode gives a potted history of our favourite deck-building games, from Dominion and Arctic Scavengers to Cthulhu Realms and Mystic Vale (which we loved, mostly, for its ability to change the actual cards themselves rather than just add new ones). I'd love to know about your own experiences with deck builders and if there are any cool ones we've missed. Thanks!
  3. Oh bugger, I was looking to pick it up next week... I still might while it's available, it does mean there's no changing meta-game to keep up with at least!
  4. Ah cool, didn't realise there was more history, the first I heard of it was the Warhammer version. It looked really interesting, kind of light and quirky and a bit of a laugh, but I only heard negative things, sadly. I may give it a go if I see it cheap somewhere, though, so thanks! And ah, you mentioned Doomtown, I really want to have a go at Doomtown: Reloaded but none of the rest of my group were as excited as me (even though they generally play more card games than I do). I may just buy it and force them to play it with me for the podcast...
  5. Hi all! Brian from the Critical Twits here. First of all, a big thank you to everyone who listened to our last Monthly Malifaux podcast, it's been our most-listened to one yet and we're really chuffed that the forum has been showing us such great support. Anyway, now that the crying is out the way, our latest episode is all about flicking games, specifically Ice Cool, Cube Quest, and Terror In Meeple City. I'm really interested in finding out if anyone out there plays these kinds of dexterity games as well as their Malifaux fix, and if there are any similar games that they recommend. I know there was an attempt to marry wargaming and skill gaming with Warhammer Diskwars a while back, but it seemed to be universally disliked. I'm also interested in Flick Em Up and Catacombs, but both come with a hefty price tag so if anyone's played those and has a verdict then I'm all ears!
  6. Awesome, thanks everyone! Just need to convince one of my gaming group to play me and I'll give it a go
  7. Thanks for the reply - I can really picture it now. It does seem like I wouldn't enjoy it much, as I like to push my luck/try crazy things in the hope of pulling off something improbable but amazing. I think I'll probably proxy some models and give it a go rather than just diving in (which is incredibly cautious for me, I started Malifaux by buying two crews, the rules and two decks just because I liked the look of things!). Do you know if the cards are available anywhere? I noticed they weren't in the pdf rules. Thanks again!
  8. Thanks LunarSol, that's really interesting. When you say there's loads of cool things that can happen but the options are limited, is it because there are a limited few things that are optimum, or the cool stuff just never gets a chance to happen? I'm with you on wanting to buy all the models, my inner 12 year old wanted X-Men models so bad back in the day, I feel like I'm betraying him by not buying them immediately!
  9. That's really useful, thank you! I can already see a couple of things I'd like to do, money and potential opponents permitting. Rules do look fairly quick and easy, which given that a 50ss game of Malifaux is taking my group upwards of 4 hours to play at the moment might just be a good thing. Love the website btw, I've ended up there checking out Malifaux stuff more than once. Keep up the good work, and thanks again.
  10. And I think you're right - as far as I'm concerned, they're not, they're on a separate card! I shall have the offender beaten immediately, for crimes against common sense. Thanks for listening, it's really appreciated.
  11. Hey, Fetid Strumpet (love the name). Thanks for listening, and thanks for getting in contact! I genuinely didn't realise that about focus, so thanks for letting us know. How that's managed to pass me by I have no idea! We love our Malifaux but we live a little bit in a bubble, as there's no local scene to speak of here, so I'm going to take this as an indicator we need to play more and get out more (well, one of many). And I should have spotted the 0 action thing, I'd blame Joe but that's terribly unprofessional so I'll just dock his biscuit ration behind the scenes instead. Reva still looks really interesting, but you're right, we may have been quaking in fear somewhat needlessly.
  12. Apologies! It doesn't feel like it quite often, sadly - things are often delayed or go out of stock here for long periods of time. I remember waiting two months past the release date for my starter set last year - I had it pre-ordered for ages and nowhere seemed able to get it in. Not meaning to knock anyone, I'm sure there's all kinds of reasons, I'm just an impatient man who loves his toys too much. Still, it's good to know that as my country commits economic suicide and leaves the EU, my Malifaux supply won't dry up! Now I just need to worry about food and fuel...
  13. Hi all! Brian from the Critical Twits here. We're a new(ish - just under a year old) gaming channel from Peterborough, England. We podcast every week on all types of gaming, including once a month on Malifaux regular as clockwork. You might see me around promoting the podcast, which is sadly a thing that has to be done lest I start to question the hundreds of hours I've put into the channel so far. We also post let's plays, unboxings, and video reviews from time to time. Personally, I used to run my local Games Workshop store and before that I'd hobbied in various forms for fifteen years, but Malifaux is fairly new to me as I've been playing less than two years. I play Outcasts, Neverborn, and Guild, but I'll probably end up with a bit of everything in the end because those models sure are purty. I also write fiction so dark it will make your mother cry, or your money back. Looking forward to getting to know people here and sharing some strategies to help me beat Joe, our resident rules expert and tournament gamer. I'd also love it if we found any extra players in the region, so let me know via a PM if you want to play some games!
  14. I've been looking at this, the X-men are calling me. How does it play?
  15. I'm in the UK and I was going to order a bunch of Gen-Con stuff (I tend to grab stuff at all the sales) and I'm really having to consider it. I would love for their to be a proper European distributor as it can be so frustrating waiting for things sometimes, but that's life I suppose.
  16. Hi everyone! Brian from the Critical Twits here. We've gone through the seven new masters in Ripples of Fate (minus upgrades, sadly) and discussed them all in turn. If you have time we'd love it if you could have a listen and let us know what you think, whether you agree/disagree/want a biscuit, etc. But even if you don't, I'd love to know which masters people are most looking forward to and why.
  17. Oh, there's so many! Here are a few off the top of my head (been researching new stuff for our podcast so these are firmly wedged in there, for now): The new Wild Ones alt Lucas McCabe Nightmare box are all punk references - Rollins Black is Henry Rollins of Black Flag, Iggy Pup is Iggy Pop, two of the characters are Ramones, and Cherri Bomb is a reference to the song Cherry Bomb by The Runaways. New Resser master Reva's "Look Upon My Works" ability and its trigger "...and despair" are references to the poem Ozymandias by Percy Bysshe Shelley. Fittingly, the poem is all about how time destroys everything, just like Reva looks set to destroy everything in her path. New Outcast master Parker Barrows is named after Bonnie and Clyde - Bonnie Parker and Clyde Barrow. His "A Fistful of Scrip" ability is a reference to the spaghetti western A Fistful of Dollars starring Clint Eastwood, one of my favourite films.
  18. Hi all! Apologies first of all - I posted this in the news/reviews section first of all, which I then realised was probably the wrong place. Oops... Anyway, we're a British gaming podcast/YouTube channel and although we don't focus exclusively on Malifaux, we do a monthly Malifaux-focussed episode. This month we discuss the new Ripples of Fate masters and continue with our Shifting Loyalties campaign log, now in round 4 of 10. We'd love to hear what you guys think and what you'd like to see in a Malifaux podcast that's maybe not being covered at the moment. I'm also looking forward to getting more involved round here in general and getting to know people. Thanks everyone!
  19. Hi all! Brian from the Critical Twits here. We're a UK-based gaming channel and podcast. Each month we dedicate a podcast episode to Malifaux - this month we're tackling the Ripples of Fate master previews and continuing with our run-down of our Shifting Loyalties campaign. We'd love to know what you think and what kind of thing you'd like to see us cover, especially anything you think is missing from the current Malifaux podcast scene or anything we can tackle from our small-island point of view.
  20. Aaron from the Critical Twits here. We're a fairly new gaming podcast and YouTube channel who have begun the Shifting Loyalties campaign. You can have a listen here: We'd love your feedback on the episodes and any advice you can offer on the campaign system.
