  1. More world information. Previews would be cool too.
  2. It's a good start! Start playing and figure out what you should keep and drop through experience. To start you out though, you should look into dropping that second nurse. Use the forum's search function to look up Dr. Grimwell, there's a lot of information floating around about your crew, I'm sure you'll find it interesting, and useful!
  3. You made the right choice. Enjoy your stay Smedley Asylum.
  4. Package from @H4ml3t arrived in good conditon, despite the USPS' best efforts. Great trade partner!
  5. Beckoners, Mr. Graves, Mr. Tannen. Thunder Archers.
  6. I need some guidance, but in return I'll share a run-down of some thematic decks for some of the Guild masters that I'm aware of. The Arcane fate deck features Lucius, Sonnia, and Lady Justice, with a few Ortegas thrown in. Twisted has Lucius as the RJ. The Starter Set includes a Guild friendly deck with Sonnia, the Smedley Asylum gang, and Sonnia again as the RJ. Bad Ink isn't as specific, but the Rams are a smoking gun and manacles, which lines up with the Ortega and Guardsman themes. There are a few more decks out there that feature Guild Masters, but I'm not especially familiar with them. My question to the community is: what would be a thematic deck for Hoffman? The only one that comes to mind would be Arcane for an M&SU friendly Hoffman, as the feature several M&SU Constructs.
  7. Mobile Toolkit used to be a totem for both Hoffman and Ramos. I suppose it still is after a fashion.
  8. Jack the Ripper/Mack the Knife Mimic Woe. Does extra damage when target has already activated, Manipulative, Changeling teleport and pounce.
  9. Wyrd used to produce a metal kit called Hats and Guns of Malifaux, there are some online retailers who still have it in stock. Wish I could just grab the flatcap from it.
  10. Now that I'm thinking about it, three generations of my family were miners and pipefitters...I suppose that would make me a union man by blood. I'm happy not being in the profession myself though, Black Lung is also a common theme along that line.
  11. Nice to hear Malifaux isn't quite as dystopic as I believed!
  12. I'm not saying that. The M&SU is only the legitimate front of the Arcanist criminal organization, and that's the only part of the organization the Guild cares about making happy.
  13. I could argue that any technological device used unlawfully is in Hoffman's wheelhouse (more due to his inherent abilities than the charter), but I meant that Kaeris is a militant anarchist, whose followers are generally the type to misuse their mechanical augments. I'm not saying the Guild's actions (enacted by Lucius) against the Arcanists won't go without repercussions, but the Guild is under new management that is actively attempting smooth over the bad relations.
  14. We don't know the details of the chater, but we do get a general understanding of it from various stories, like Hoffman's reintroduction in Crossroads. This is basically an information dump relating to the sort of rabble Hoffman would be most likely to be set against in the line of duty, thanks to his unique position in the Guild. At the very least, it might give you some ideas for story encounters, or TTB adventures. Feel free to add your own insight, I doubt I've touched on every pertainant connection. After the events of Ripples of Fate it would seem that Anna Lovelace is at the top of C. Hoffman's priority list. Her minions of choice put Hoffman well within his rights to pursue action against her, which is probably one of the many reasons Marlow gave Hoffman a proper department. Professor Albus Von Shtook and his students are a ripe and growing threat to the charter. It's hard to that imagine Shtook's work hasn't crossed Hoffman's desk. Sandeep Desai may well be implicated by professional association. Leveticus commits similar offenses, though on a smaller scale, just as heinous. Miss Squidpiddge is know to cavort with all sorts of undead amalgamations. Collodi's methods are quite different, but infusing the souls of unconsenting individuals into doll simulacra should fall under the auspices of the charter, though perhaps only in the broadest of interpretations. Several of his associates propagate their kind in such a manner. Generally, anyone unlawfully grafting mechanical augmentation, or using such augmentation unlawfully, are in violation. I wonder how often this brings Hoffman into conflict with the Arcanists; I imagine he isn't a fan of Kaeris. That being said, his push to support the M&SU and their magically inclined members will likely buy him some hard feelings from Sonnia once she finds out.
  15. If Dr. Alexei Sokoloff is a proxy for Joss, as I've seen speculated, I may run him. If Alexei isn't, I may run him instead.
  16. After pondering the subject, I decided not to pursue the Arcanist models; I don't like their style. I did drop Ryle, in favor of the Brutal Emissary, from my preliminary list. Hoffman 6ss pool -Field Mechanic (2) -Remote Mines (2) -O.S.A (2) Mechanical Attendant (2) Brutal Emissary (10) -Conflux of Amalgamation (0) Peacekeeper (11) Guardian (7) Hunter (7) Watcher (4)
  17. I'm surprised that no one has mentioned the Avatar's useless wings. Hoffman seems more practical than that. I'm going to remove them from mine, which just shipped this morning. Landed a great deal on ebay for it too.
  18. I haven't, though I do like Conflux of Amalgamation, and that Df/Sh 6. I like the Hoffman avatar too. To stay on topic, which model(s) would you replace for it? Would you play it in addition to either set?
  19. I'm prepping to revisit my first Master, C. Hoffman, and I wanted to get the forum's opinions/feelings regarding two sets of beaters: Ryle and Peacekeeper (21 ss) Or Joss and Langston (22 ss)
