  1. To Thaarup- 1. As stated I bought the book that said "Malfaux M2e Rules Manual" shouldn't that have everything I need to play? 2. Why should I have to download anything? Why does my "rules manual" not have the rules and write ups for all the models in the game? 3) If putting all the core books up as downloadable PDF's is a bad idea, why is Pathfinder kicking D&D's ass by doing exactly that? 4) if making absolutely all rules and stats for the game open source is a bad idea, why does Paizo let D20pfsrd.com reprint every feat and write up ever published? 5) if making every book you ever published available as a downloadable PDF is a bad idea for sales, why is Eclipse Phase the highest selling Sci-Fi RPG when they do exactly that? by not making this info available for free online, its my opinion Wyrd is hurting its sales, not increasing them.
  2. Unfortuatly, while I would like to add something like this, it comes to close to infringing on Wyrd's copyright for my taste. I'd rather stay away from having as little model information in the app as possible with the exceptions being model costs, wounds, and stratgey/scheme information. Anything about model specific rules (even blurbs about what an upgrade does) feels like it might be stepping over the line a bit. Can you get Wyrd's permission for this then? I'm a new player and getting pretty frustrated that there are no card databases to be able to compare models I want to buy without shelling out more cash to be able to find out what the models do first, or to be able to verify what an opponent's action is doing is actually being done by the rules. Makes no sense that this info is not available.
  3. Heck yes it would! or all the models available to a master that have reactivate etc... man that needs to be available! And I don't have a "main rule book" when I got into this my buddy was telling me I only needed to get the reference rule book, now to really play the game and get more models I find out I need to shell out more cash for a book I didn't know was needed? 90% of which I really don't need? Yes, that's a problem! I like the companies that make the games I play to make money, I don't like the companies of the games I play to rip me off for stuff that should be free... like having to pay extra money to know the stats of the models I want to buy before I buy them.
  4. I cant download anything at work, and I would really like to be able to see stat cards when I read pull my finger rather than read descriptions of abilities without stat cards. Do I really have to buy all the arsenal decks, or additional books to be able to see opponent's stats? That's nuts, reminds me of something G.W. would do... I really think these should be up and online on dedicated wiki pages to anyone who wants to read them, heck it would motivate me to buy models as I would know what a new model could do in my crew rather than spend money on stuff I'm really not interested in just to see what they can do.
  5. I'm gonna try a hoff variant of this soon... http://wyrd-games.net/community/topic/100241-colette-%E2%80%93-the-adepticon-almost-master-of-malifaux-crew-creation/
  6. Is there any good reason why stat cards are not available online or on wikis?
  7. Thought dance together only works on "another" show girl.... don't think you'd consider Laz a show girl...
  8. I would guess... Use burst and rapid fire attacks to take down slowed wounded spiders before bleeding edge heals them up. If there's a lot of terrain use high def larger models to block up lanes to stop advances. Use attacks like decapitate and head shot to burn up ramos's hand forcing him to choose between summoning and more effective uses of cheating. What worked on you when you played Ramos?
  9. All three of my tables seemed to have an over abundance of terrain/cover, it helped to block LOS but initially made the electric creation double walk/mag opening difficult. Second game I had to change direction to engage an advancing rasputina/ice gamin threat and moving the E.C. meant magnetism would put me into the 2' burst, should have been more sure of measurements there. Third game ortegas were in perfect positions fast, I wanted Ramos to activate last as not to run into ortegas fire lanes w/o cover but that meant dropping the E.C. open. I might have been playing too timid that game, then again 40ss I only had Langston joss Ramos (max upgrades and 7ss pool) and an EC, one screw up would have cost me. Never got the schemes I wanted, I was trying to use the spiders for "distract" but I was summoning in 3s and they were getting killed off before their second activation (by burst templates w raspy). Did manage to use them for some objective gathering.
  10. OK played the tournament yesterday, I plan on writing a full batt rep but for now... Ramos appears to be very slow in opening turns needing later turns to ramp up spider production/bleeding edge regen before the wall O' spiders gets rolling. At a tournament where scheme selection is limited, there are 45 min time limits, and most games barely reach turn 3... Ramos just plain sucks. I couldent agree more with mythic on reckoning, last game I faced the ortegas and was bleeding points to "make them suffer" (elec creations) and wounded/slow spider summoning (even though I was focused on distract/just blowing em up and had built the most tanky list I could.) I have yet to play a full game, and lookin at my turn 3 ends I think I would have done much better (good chances of winning) had the games gone longer, but as it was I saw exactly why a scheme marker hemoraging crew like Collette would do very good in a short game where scores with most other masters usually ended 0-1 or 2-3, etc. Lastly I was really disappointed with langston. At a cost of 12, 13 w imbued energies he didn't really make his points back in effectiveness. Using him to try and take out masters was a big mistake, and I had to cheat a lot of cards to keep him alive and hitting. His huge base size also made it harder for my other models to get around him and enter the fray. Overall it seemed he would burst forward into a fight and everybody else just had to run around him as he blocked up lanes.
  11. Please excuse my ignorance here, I understand Cassandra is for hitting power, but what makes her superior to Langston? Objective running?
  12. NICE Any suggestions for general play? some people say to have Ramos around as many arachnids as you can to keep them pumped up, others say keep Ramos hidden as much as you can and take advantage of the long range summoning. what upgrades do you consider mandatory or near mandatory? what about using a Malifaux child, ever tried it? Seems like that would supercharge summoning...
  13. Hi played my very first (and only) round of Malifaux yesterday, uh... more of a learning curve than I expected... Can some experienced Ramos guys give me some links and or tips on building a crew list? (different from pull my finger) I'll be playing in a tourney Sunday and am trying to do my Malifaux homework...
  14. Scirian- I like the idea of Levi with arachnid swarms for the auto-crow paralyse. I'd like to make a grief crew that just causes expensive models to sit around while Levi blasts anything unoccupied. Guess I'm a bit of a sadist, Iove the look of anger and frustration on an opponents face.
  15. Yeah, Levi with swarms auto-flipping crows sounds nasty... that's my next crew.... What are some other bad passed construct combos/abilities?
  16. I'm happy there's no a-typical burning/zealots army, that trope is way tired and overdone in most wargames.
  17. So I bought my Ramos crew and started looking into my next purchaces, noticed in many online builds a lot of the same models (joss, rusty alice, etc) tend to make it into Levi, Hoff, and Ramos army lists. This happens so much, that after you get the most common models adding two more crew boxes can save you money. I'm wondering a few things... 1. Is it better to go all one faction rather than build the construct master in three different factions? 2. Assuming my local opponents get familiar with the fact I run all construct lists, would it be a serious detriment if when faction is declared they can guesstamate my master/build?
  18. Not fluff. In RPGs your creating stories and characters, characters and scenarios progress, there are no winners and losers. Wargames are not like that. I build the crew that I believe I have the best chance to win with. I look at synergy between the different model's stats and special abilities, I try to be realistic about pulling off amazing but difficult strats that sound great on forums but are actually pretty rare in general play. I really don't like playing the weaker lists to be patted on the back after a loss and getting the consolation prize of "well your list was more fluffy than mine" or "it was fun beating that master that nobody else uses"
  19. Who: Ramos Why: easy to paint, repetitive and simple tactics with an out of box proven success record. Very easy to manage. Great way to get started and after some wins and losses find out about other masters who's play styles your more attracted to. Cons: army is intentionally fairly bland in style and rules. Asked and answered. Done.
  20. Findas, if your set on Karis, and the problem is really crew selection/tactica, why did you title the thread "finding the right master" ?!??!
  21. Seems like the most difficult would be gremlins (any master) and Levi, mostly because of lots of special rules and army list possibilities/troop choices that go far beyond the average. Am I wrong?
