  1. Think I'll have a go this time round. Should have something up in the next couple of days. And Hateful Darkblack, that's some seriously fast work. Not had a proper read yet, but good work nonetheless!
  2. Finally wrote something for Month 1! http://scribesofterra.blogspot.co.uk/2014/03/tomb-month1-post1.html Lots more to come soon.
  3. Does anyone know why the Viks & Pandora plastic crew boxes aren't available on the Wyrd webstore? I notice they've been missing for a while. Could it be to do with the scale issues they had with those crews (Giant Vik & Ronin, small Sorrow)? Just wondering.
  4. Sign-up mail sent. I've had a play around with Vassal, just need to get a couple of practice games in!
  5. Just like to express my thanks again to Mike and the rest of the guys who helped run the event - I had a great time at the doubles on Sunday and everyone made me feel incredibly welcome at my first Malifaux event! Also props to Mr Doxey for putting up with my noobishness all day! I'll definitely be along to Malifaux tourneys in the future. Now I just need to think about how I want to paint that lovely Bendy Board I acquired... Cheers Nick
  6. Thanks all, you've persuaded me. Ticket & doubles registration done, see you on Sunday!
  7. As a player with exactly 1 game of Malifaux under my belt, is there any mileage in me coming and playing in the doubles tournament on Sunday?
  8. I think I'd like to come to this, can you sign me up please? I'm only down the road after all. Will pay in due course!
  9. So got around to my Month Zero post here: http://scribesofterra.blogspot.com/2014/02/tomb-month-zero.html And I think I'm going to concentrate on Sonnia for now. Seamus might Back Alley his way in at some point though...
  10. Still had fun though. Blasting apart Nephilim with Sam's Rapid Fire was mighty satisfying!
  11. Surely the only way Flay would allow you to cheat damage against Impossible To Wound models would be if it said 'the damage flip resulting from this attack may always be cheated', no?
  12. Really enjoyed it, was only a 20SS game and we just played Line In The Sand with no Strategy. Just gave me a chance to familiarise myself with the mechanics etc. I took Sam and 3 Witchlings and my opponent had Barbaros, a Young Nephilim & 3 Terror Tots. Couldn't compete with the extra movement in his crew, especially when I lost a Witchling. I had 2 Scheme Markers at the end, but he managed to lay the 4 to win 3-1. Still, I learned a lot - like Nephilim can move all over the place really quickly! And my Crew can't...
  13. They are indeed up: http://wyrd-games.net/community/files/file/53-malifaux-wave-2-cards-low-rez/ Enjoy!
  14. So, I've only recently discovered Malifaux. Like a lot of games, the sheer variety of options make it daunting to a complete beginner. The Tale of Malifaux Bloggers (ToMB: see http://wyrd-games.net/community/topic/98442-tale-of-malifaux-bloggers-tomb/) is a great idea to give some idea of what building a Crew is like, but most people taking part are experienced players starting a new Crew or Faction. That means they have some understanding of what Malifaux is and how to play. A total beginner might have no idea at all, so as well as participating in ToMB, I'm also going to do a series of posts on my blog about starting Malifaux from a place of zero knowledge (i.e. my own actual experience). I'd appreciate it if people could give me some feedback on the posts - either here or by commenting on the blog - and by sharing them with anyone you know who might be just starting out. Anyway, here's the first post: (yes, I know it's VERY basic, but I am assuming ZERO knowledge!) http://scribesofterra.blogspot.com/2014/02/malifaux-beginners-episode1.html Cheers Nick
  15. My #ToMB intro: http://scribesofterra.blogspot.com/2014/02/joining-ToMB.html I'll have a Month Zero post up soon too.
  16. They look great. What bases are those you're using?
  17. That's right HtUnliving, couldn't just sit and wait for Seamus. In fact I'm still waiting! My Sonnia crew is half-painted already, hopefully should get my first game in on Friday. Excited.
  18. My blog is http://scribesofterra.blogspot.co.uk. You'll notice I'm already planning to do a 'new to Malifaux' series, so this is really well timed. Questions: One post a month with ToMB as part of the title? Assuming I stay within the financial constraints, can I run two masters? Picked up both Sonnia & Seamus...
  19. Can I join in as a completely new player? I'm going to be blogging about getting started with Malifaux anyway...
  20. @Monkeyboy: Guess what I bought from my LGS before my Seamus box has even arrived. Yep, the Sonnia crew! Gorgeous minis - especially Sam Hopkins - though I will say they're a sight fiddlier to assemble than the GW stuff I'm used to. All put together and a little paint on Purifying Flame and a Witchling Stalker so shouldn't be long before they see some game time. Thanks for all your input guys. Will probably start a painting progress thread now that I actually have some models, but feel free to keep the advice coming. Might help other newbies out!
  21. In the arsenal decks. Or the rulebook.
  22. Just got a great deal on Seamus' box online, so looks like I'll be starting as a filthy Resser! Though I imagine I'll have to buy another crew from my LGS to support them too. Nothing to do with my obsessive personality or anything... *wink*
  23. Thanks for the responses people. Aesthetics/character was always going to be the main factor anyway. My biggest problem is that I want them all! I should hopefully be getting a demo game at my LGS in the next couple of days so I'll get to see a couple of crews in action before I decide. I'll be sure to let you know who I choose!
