  1. Since a model always has LOS to itself, this being a Tac Action, I'd say yes Misaki can target herself with this. As for the trigger to push I'd say it fails to move you at all, I don't think you can push towards yourself.
  2. It is important to note that they are not actually doing the same thing however. One is making a choice as part of declaring the action, and the other is making a choice related to the dual that results in the process of the action resolving. At the risk of having it used against me locally I'll also add the punk zombies' slice and dice action to the list of things where she'll have to use her pitiful Df. And it is also important to note that Expose Fears is not a trigger (although I believe most people here are using the term 'trigger' outside of its strict mechanical usage) and thus does not behave as a trigger mechanically. The ability allows Pandora a choice when she is involved in an opposed duel.
  3. muchas gracias Mako! Also as an addendum to my previous post. I was just talking about this with my opponent during a game the other day because both of us had drawn our BJ on turn one. Holding onto the dang thing puts you down a card, and that has some pretty serious costs associated with it, This was further exacerbated by my opponent hanging onto a 10 for bete noir, putting him effectively at a 4 card hand. needless to say there was not a lot of cheating on his side of the table. But this just threw into very stark contrast the not so obvious cost of sandbagging a card, especially the BJ. Seeing fewer cards at beginning of turn, less cards to burn for cheating casting spells and if you get hit by assassinate style triggers, all because you want to avoid the 1/46 chance of flipping that cursed card. I still think it is best to hang onto the BJ, but there is a very good argument for not doing so.
  4. student of steel helps, but he's only kinda wave 1, and is much better in his wave 2 incarnation.
  5. I will usually hold onto the BJ for a turn or two until I get impatient and toss it away pre-turn, or if I have a good use for it like flurry or defensive stance. I feel like the smartest thing to do is to just keep hanging onto the little bugger so that it cannot flip at an inopportune time, but unless I'm playing Jakob Lynch I really don't have the extra room in my hand to keep it. Also, this should be in a different forum, not the 10T faction discussion.
  6. Heck, pick up the box for the mature even if you're not playing Lilith, that dude is a BEAST! Seriously, try him out with pandora in place of teddy, play him with Jakob alongside Huggy, try him with the Wave 2 masters; the thing is just a straight-up beat stick. If you are in need of a high SS, very mobile, dude-who-tears-dudes-in-half pick up the Nephilim box. Plus the sculpt is really sick on all three in the box. That said, no it's not a must get, just a probably should get. Alternatively you could grab a Nekima as you generally want at least one big bad-a:crows:crows beatstick to run with Lilith. But even then it's worth having a mature to use along WITH 'Kima.
  7. As far as timing is concerned, this ends in Pandora's favor. Pg 35 of rules manual (no idea in full size): Resolving actions 1. Declare Action and Spend AP ...The model also declares any variable in the action.(choosing which stat target will resist with) 2. Perform Duels (at this point Pandora will have the choice to resist with her Wp instead of Df) 3. Resolve Results Pandora's ability for reference: Expose Fears: This model may reist with Wp instead of Df in any opposed duel. This model considers the duel a Wp duel.
  8. Logically you would think that the attacker doesn't count but there is nothing stopping that from being the case (strictest interpretation of the rule etc.). So yup, the Torakage will gain "cover" from someone shooting it from 2.5" away with no other models around.
  9. Following the strictest interpretation of the rules (and due to a background as an MTG judge I am apt to take the strictest interpretation) you would be able to burn the stone, and then also gain the benefit of risky ventures, resulting in a :+fate to the Df flip. As the OP was thinking, because of the timing you can gain both benefits.
  10. He's nowhere near as heavy on summoning as nicodem so don't worry about needing a million minions to summon. He does some pretty dang good nastiness related to poison (giving it, spreading it, moving it, benefiting from it, making you take that dmg right away) and doesn't necessarily need to be a summoner. He has ways to summon canine remains and flesh constructs on his 'moonlighting' upgrade and Sebastian's upgrade allows him to summon canines as well, so those two might be worth picking up if you'd like to go a summoning route! Of course all ressers have access to mindless zombies through maniacal laugh so you could get those as well. As with most ressers the rotten belles are a great value, punk zombies can offer a lot of offensive output, so just the usual characters are a good place to start adding onto the starter box.
  11. I'm getting into pandora myself so a big thanks to everyone who posted here! I've tried out a few little fake games against myself and she seems pretty amazing. She just has so many options for each turn, and incite is just bonkers good.
  12. you know, i think you're right skywalker, I'd have to confirm with my local Ramos player.
  13. At 35ss I would run almost exactly what you described, schemes depending. Jakob Lynch -- 3 Pool +Addict [1] +The Rising Sun [2] Hungering Darkness [0] +Fears Given Form [1] Mr Graves [8] Beckoner [7] The Illuminated [7] The Illuminated [7] You have to prioritize using the few SS you have to keeping Jakob alive. I took something like this against my friend's Rasputina crew in 30ss (minus an Illuminated and fears given form, add in woke up with a hand and some stones) and ended the game by just annihilating the opposing crew leaving me up 2vp. It wasn't one sided by a long shot, I ended the game with only Huggy alive, and he had to be zombied back into play. It's a crew that gives you some movement tricks, some good damage output, and a couple of really tough pieces. You could shave the Becky in some set ups for more stones and maybe a tot or depleted, although that means buying even more models.
  14. PROOF! and all spelled out quite explicitly. Found it in the beta PDF p.28. Still waiting for my rules manual to come in from the black friday sale. I'll point that out to them next time we're playing.
  15. I suspected as much, incorporeal seems a bit over the top otherwise. EDIT: Just a matter of convincing everyone else that this is correct now.
  16. I hate to flood the forums with new posts, but I didn't want to lump this into my other post since this is totally unrelated. Since starting to play malifaux I've heard two distinct and contradictory versions of hiring when it concerns a dual faction master. I've heard some conflicting versions of how to pay for your crew as well. I'm guessing this has something to do with holdovers from 1.5 rules. So for hiring models when using a dual faction master: Version A (the one I have been following): you choose a faction, you choose your (dual faction) master to lead the crew. You hire models and equip upgrades out of your chosen faction only (infiltration effects allowing you to cheat this a bit). I.E. Jakob lynch in 10T can bring Beckoners (infiltrated), Illuminated, and 10T archers, but not a Teddy. OR Version B (several players have told me this, including a henchman): you choose a faction, you choose your (again dual faction) master to lead your crew. You can hire models from either of your master's factions, but only equip upgrades from the chosen faction. I.E. Jakob in 10T can bring Beckoners, Terror Tots, and 10T archers. I'd love to hear which is the correct way to pick things. This is somewhat related so I'll ask here as well. When hiring do you: A) only hire out of the game's build total (as I have been doing) and then add the leader's cache to your soul stone pool? I.E. using Pandora you build with 50ss, have 3 left over which gets added to your SS pool for total of 6ss. Or add the leader's cache to the build total, and then hire out of that amount? I.E. using Pandora you add cache of 3 and build out of 53ss, any left over becomes your SS pool. Again, love to hear something official on this.
  17. So I have been playing since the wave beta, and my play group has been playing incorporeal one way and I'm not sure if it's right. So for reference the relevant plart: Incorporea: This model ignores, and is ignored by, other models and terrain during any movement or push. So we've been playing that incorporeal models can 'break away' from engagements without eliciting a disengaging strike. Is this correct? The wording is that it ignores other models, but does that mean just for the purposes of moving the base, or also ignoring disengaging strikes? On the flip side, if we play it the way we have, then other models would be able to 'break away' from an incorporeal model without eliciting a disengaging strike as well, right? Again, is this right? So what's the story, do incorporeal models just not interact with disengaging strikes at all, or are they subject to taking and dealing them like any other model? I'd love to hear something official on this matter.
  18. I will definitely miss having oldnexus against crews that can must a lot of Ca actions. *sigh, poor Huggy just can't take spells like he used to. Having oldnexus on him made him a little less likely to just fall apart like wet toilet paper when hit with spell Dmg. Oh we can definitely argue about the change itself, I'm down for that. I guess my main beef is that they 2-fer-ed the downgrading of nexus. Bringing it down to 1 wound healed would probably have prevented schenanigans like Huggy getting hit and coming out with more wounds on the other side. But also taking away the trigger coming from Dmg prevention really stinks. I had Jakob in :aura6 of huggy the other day against the 'Kin', and I had a moment of panic because I realized I could no longer could wait to see if an attack hits before spending a SS, I had to just burn it on giving my defense a or not at all.
  19. Sticky bit of rules interaction there! My interpretation would be that Lilith can still target the Silurid as she is not ignoring LOS she just never needs it to begin with. I would base this solely on the fact that her master of malifaux does not literally use the word ignore. I would love to hear an official answer on this one.
  20. Holy sh:crowst! As in 29 attacks were taken against huggy and it only took 4ss to keep him alive? Jeez, in that case yes, OP to a rediculous degree. Most of my experience with huggy+oldnexus was he got to be untouchable for a about the first 3 turns or so and then the SS's dry up and he'd be left hanging in the breeze. I definitely agree with your second point: nexus as it was skewed balance and thus also skewed design of neverborn masters and henchmen. As I percieved it, the W1 models were balanced pretty well without nexus being abused (huggy happens to just abuse it worse than anyone else, wonder how that got through beta unnoticed...) it makes sense that they tone it back before oldnexus affects the design on W2 models.
  21. I will say I appreciate the crew building challenge presented to me as a primarily Jakob player, however the more combat oriented teams like Huggy (lets face it he's a team unto himslef) really appreciated the Nexus's old power. Especially in such a melee heavy crew, using nexus to keep huggy, barbaros, etc alive long enough to get them into combat was almost neccissary. As is I will say I feel less shackled to playing Jakob only as neverborn; I can take him in 10T and use rising sun to keep huggy in the action. Sadly this means forcing a more focused darkened theme, but such is life. Huggy will just have to choose between playing more of a cruise missle or ninja type of game plan, instead of getting to play offensive super-tank. I don't think there were cries of old version Nexus being broken because it wasn't abusable in a really unfair way, it was just way over-use-able. Using it neccessitated a lot of SS being set aside to keep the model it's on alive, but for the advantage granted... why would you ever not? Overall I doubt I'll take nexus nearly as often as I have been now that it's been errata-ed (it was basically an auto take). But it won't be left at home against certain crews.
  22. I just realized this the other day when playing, but thanks for pointing it out. So no scheme marker schenanigans buuuuut I could walk the heeded model towards some illuminated, forcing a horror duel and making it fail for a paralyze? I assumed (1)heed was worded to make the model friendly to keep just that from happening, since that tactic was abused like crazy during wave 1 beta.
  23. ++ on this thread. Very good primer on huggy/lynch shenanigans! I'd love to see some more master/crew primers like this written now that M2E has dropped officially. As mentioned nexus is often preferred to allow huggy greater survivability and allowing Jakob to carry Endless Hunger to give huggy his Ca expert. Usually bonkers good to the point that you don't really miss the rising sun ressurection huggy. But some crews built around lynch and other ten thunders are going to make you want to go the Rising Sun route; I know I do Rising sun huggy often enough and love every minute of it, just when they get huggy dead BAM he's back! An alternative to full offense huggy worth trying is using him to grab objectives in a faster less 'kill-y' crew. Huggy and a beckoner have some fun movement shenanigans. Only really need to put endless hunger on Lynch so that huggy is 'heeding' as often as possible and it leaves the rest of your crew free to do whatever. That leaves points open to equip Jakob with upgrades he can use and teammates, especially the nimble ten-thunders options. (edit: checked the cards, the upgrade is Servant of 5 Dragons works great at distrupting opposing claim markers) Remember that if you heed an enemy minion they become friendly to your crew during the (1) action, so interact actions place your scheme markers or can be used to yank away the scheme marker they just placed on your opponent's activation! All that on a fig with Ca expert and all it cost you was a 2ss upgrade; makes for a darn good objective grabber.
