  1. Whooops! I read the NB's upgrade wrong! According to the FB post you can use Glimpse to bury an enemy even with friendlies buried. It actually worked out due to how the game went because I don't think I ever had more than 2 enemies buried at once (though I had bete Noire buried often, so the upgrade definitely helped in that regard.) Karina got her "set buried enemies on fire" spell off, and her enemy models take damage if fast aura. And she held a table quarter for Reconnoiter.
  2. Just played a game with the new rules. We fudged Karina's summon, but I didn't get a chance to use it anyway (No high Crows). The crew is really a treat to play now with all the extra Burys. Great job, thanks a lot Ratty and team! List: Tara, Oblit Symbiote, + Initiative Upgrade, Dead of Winter Karina: Summon upgrade Nothing Beast: Bury Upgrade 2 Void Wretches 2 Death Marshals Bete Noire Nothing Beast killed Huggy and an Illuminated, buried a bunch of models before he died. I got stuff DONE.

    Oh my poor wallet!
  4. omg thankyouthankyouthankyouthankyouthankyouthankyouthankyou THANK YOU! I doubt the big man will tell us what they'll do, but could you at least give us the number of new upgrades? Are they all Tara, or does Karina and the NB get some love?
  5. Will they be undead versions of those characters? If not you're going to have some trouble filling everything out. Will your demon Barber model have its own throat cut? (Obviously Seamus is a Living model, but again thematics) I dunno about what model you could use for her, but Todd's wife could be Bete Noire or more fittingly Jaakuna Ubume. An undead Beadle could be Sebastian, as he's a true Henchman. Turpin's ghost would make a great Hanged. Hope this helps. Oh! Anthony Hope could be a Drowned. You could use "generic victims" with their throats cut as Belles, with the "higher class" victims as Doxxies.
  6. It's almost that time again! I bought a metric crap-ton of kits last year, including Tara's Nightmare Set. Do we have any idea if there'll be any new plastic kits available? *fingers crossed for Dreamer, Molly, and/or Lucius*
  7. I have Collodi's box on the way, and yes I read the tactica thread, but they simply don't seem that impressive. A 4 stone minion is nice for objectives, but they're super fragile. Their do tricks with Poison, but that isn't really utilized in Neverborn (Wicked Dolls would be sick in Ressers). The debuff that only allows Walk actions is cool, but seems to rely on too many factors to pull off- including having lots of Wicked Dolls I'm not inclined to hire. Their healing/ buff is decent. Altogether though, the unit is fairly "meh" to me. Am I missing something?
  8. Seamus' AP is precious. It is ALWAYS worth it to cheat that Back Alley flip/ burn a stone to give yourself the Tome so you can jump 16". If for some reason you DO fail the flip to Back Alley (Black Joker or terrible hand), it is worth completely rethinking the rest of his activation and deciding if the Back Alley is worth it at all. In your next game, if you aren't already taking any upgrades, give her Sinister Reputation. That's the one that gives enemy models within 6" -2Wp. It's easy to use, incredibly effective, and she won't be playing Seamus much different than she is now. OK, onto Seamus' upgrade descriptions: Limited Upgrades: Seamus has 2 Limited Upgrades (that means you can take one or the other, not both); Sinister Reputation and Bag o' Tools. Of the two, I've found myself reaching Sinister Reputation is most games. This isn't to sat that the Bag is bad, only that i find it has a more specialized usage. Sinister Reputation: The first ability on the upgrade is Spectacular Infamy, which gives enemy models within 6" -2 Wp. As I said above, it's ALWAYS useful and simply makes the rest of his crew better. Lures become nigh unavoidable (which helps with pounces.) A Belle's Undress action, goes from Casting on a 5, to a 7. Horror tests for both Seamus and Sybelle go from a Wp5 model needing a 7 to pass up to a 9! Any model that affects Wp at all (I'm looking at you, The Hanged), become twice as good when used with Sinister Rep. Don't forget all those failed Wp tests also heal Seamus via Feast of Fear. The 2nd ability on the upgrade gives you Live for Pain- a second ranged attack that doesn't have the 1 shot per turn restriction the Flintlock does. It has a decent damage spread and, more importantly, heals Seamus equal to the damage done. Note, this attack is a Ca action, so it does full damage to Incorporeal models, and that it is resisted by Defence and not Wp, so that it doesn't trigger Seamus' healing via Feast of Fear. Bag o' Tools: When I first looked at this upgrade, I thought it turned Seamus into a brawler. The Bag has good range (2"), Ml7, a solid damage spread, and a host of cool triggers including a "Decapitate" (instant kill unless your opponent discards 2 cards or 2 Soulstones.) The truth is.... more complex. I've find Bag-oriented Seamus good at two things: 1. picking off lone models using Back Alley to drop right on top of them, and 2. using the Tome's To the Pain trigger to drop scheme markers. Since he is dropping them via an attack trigger rather than an Interact Action, the restrictions against dropping them while engaged and/ or not being able to drop Schemes Markers within 4" of eachother does not apply. This can make Seamus rather good at Schemes like Line in the Sand, Plant Explosives, and Spring the Trap. Red Chapel Killer: This is a straightforward upgrade with lots of strategic depth. It gives a new 0 action, which allows Seamus to discard a corpse marker (usually one he just by attacking) to allow him to use Back Alley while still in Line of Sight of enemy models. Mind you that since they're both 0's, you can't use this one and Arise My Sweet in the same turn. The other ability on the upgrade let's Seamus Back Alley to friendly scheme markers. This can be very useful on a board lacking in terrain.
  9. Coppellius is a solid beat stick as well. His horror tricks work well with Pandora's Misery, and he has EXCELLENT synergy with her Poltergeist totem (the Wp debuff aura + Coppel's Horror tests.)
  10. He seems like he'd be solid in a pounce oriented Lilith list. Tots, Kade, the Twins, Lilith's sword upgrade let's her pounce.
  11. You know the Belles drop corpses when they die right? If one drops dead, you can just summon her right back on the spot. Or turn her int oa Doxxy instead.
  12. @slowlauris OK sorry I've been away. (Work.) I might post this in segments, and then maybe compile it into its own thread despite my horrid typing skills. So here's a little Seamus primer for you. I'll do his card first, then upgrades, then his units, and finally strats and schemes: Seamus: There are 4 main areas to think about when playing Seamus- his gun, his movement shennanigans, his survivability, and the fact that he can make both Rotten Belles and Dead Doxxies using Arise My Sweet. That last part is self explanatory. If you kill something, make a new model. If a Belle dies, just bring her back. Remember that successful or not, you can only attempt a ress once per turn due to it being a 0 action. .50 Flintlock pistol: PEW PEW! The gun is probably Seamus' biggest advantage, and is usually what people most associate him with- that and dead hookers. Seamus should fire his gun as often as possible, but remember as the weapon's description says, he can only shoot it once per turn. Since the damage spread (4,6,8) is so high you can pick off most models with that one shot and only Moderate damage. Therefore, taking the Focus action before shooting is critical as it will usually let you make a straight flip for damage. This will allow you to cheat in a card for optimal damage. A common activation is simply Walk, Focus, Shoot. Or Back Alley teleport, Focus, Shoot. Learning which enemy models to pick off is also an important skill, which will become easier as you get more familiar with your opponent's crews. Movement: Seamus' basic walk is a paltry 4", but he has 2 main tricks which help him get around. The first and most important is Back Alley. Seamus is a serial killer. He appears from no where, murders someone, and then strolls away whistling a tune. Use BA to pop out in unexpected locations and shoot things in the face or stab them to death with Bag O' Tools. Terrain placement is important. As a Seamus player you'll be looking to set up terrain that blocks Line of Sight in a balanced and fair way so that you'll have multiple Entry/ Exit points for Seamus to pop out from. Remember Seamus only needs to be out of Line of Sight where he teleports from not to. So yes, you can teleport into Line of Sight of a model, Focus, and then Shoot. Or teleport and then charge with Bag O' Tools. The second movement trick is really more of an escape mechanism for if Seamus gets engaged. The Crow trigger on his Palm Slap pushes Seamus 3" away. You don't take disengaging strikes during pushes, so if Seamus gets engaged, you can use this to push him out of combat. And then hopefully shoot his opponent in the face. Remember to Focus if you can! It is totally worth a Soulstone to auto-suit the Crow trigger. Survival: Despite his subpar Def of 4, Seamus is a very survivable Master. Via his ability to use Soulstones, WP 7, Impossible to Wound, Hard to Kill, Terrifying, and terrific healing ability, he can be a very difficult model to remove. Both Hard to Kill and his healing ability Feast of Fear, deserve special mention. Since so much of Seamus' crew (and many Resser models like the Hanged) revolve around Willpower Tests and Horror Duels, you should be seeing him heal often. Over the course of the average game I've seen him heal anywhere between 8-16 wounds depending on the circumstances. Due to this, and the "AP tax" from Hard to Kill (one attack to bring him down to 1 wound, and another attack to finish him off), it is VERY hard for most non-master models to kill Seamus in a single activation. If he does take severe damage, the fastest way to heal him is to activate a Belle, use Lure or Undress on a nearby enemy (twice if you can) to heal 2 wounds per success. Then use another Belle's Companion ability for a second activation and more potential heals. Optimally you can heal 8 wounds this way (4 wp tests healing 2 wounds a piece) before your opponent gets another activation. Even if you only manage to heal him once and just take him above 1 wound, however, his Hard to Kill ability comes back into effect along with its "AP tax." Again, it usually takes multiple activations or models with extra AP to kill Seamus. Don't forget that the Horror tests your opponent takes for targeting Seamus will also heal him if they fail. After awhile, most people either ignore Seamus or try to neutralize him another way as killing him outright is usually a waste of time and AP. Ok that's enough for now. Next I'll talk about his upgrades and stuff.
  13. Some other people have mentioned it but I think it bears repeating (and I don't want this to come off sounding like a whine): I spent $80 to buy a gorgeous looking nightmare kit only for other non-theme models to have better synergy with Tara than her own units. She's the only master I can think of where non-theme models are the go-to for most games as opposed to the opposite. Part of what I love about this game, and what drew me away from 40k was the synergy between thematically-tied models. As it is now, I proxxy the Nothing Beast as a stand in for Killjoy, and use Karina as the Malifaux child just to get those models on the table. (I use the NB occasionally as "himself" but at this point I don't even bother with actual Karina.) edit- I don't know how feasible it is, but I would absolutely support some errata/ possibly a beta test (it could be done with the avatar beta) to address her issues. It understand that it would cause inconsistencies with both the rulebook and (more importantly) the arsenal deck. I figure now is the best time to do it if at all, however, due to her models are not widely available and the new cards/upgrades could be put into her main kit once it becomes available with a note explaining the discrepancies. tl;dr- I really like Tara. I really like her story, what her rules are intended to do, and I love her models. Please do something to tighten up the rules of her and her crew to the standard of excellence I'm coming to expect from this wonderful company and its awesome IP. I know why this occurred (surprise kit+ Levi issues) and I'm not indignant with Wyrd, but I would like to see some form of support to address these issues.
  14. You must be Izikial's girlfriend. I'm the guy that gave him the big post about Molly/ Seamus and convinced him to convince you to pick up Seamus. I don't have the time to do it now (I have a work-related dinner to get ready for) but I'll type you up a nice little Seamus-primer when I get a chance. For now, use your Belles to Lure forward/ isolate one enemy model and then have Seamus Focus and shoot it with his pistol or have Sybelle charge it or Lure into a group of Belles clustered together so they can all get Pounce attacks off. It will die. Rinse and repeat. For now, here: http://pullmyfinger.wikispaces.com/M2E+Seamus That's a link to a Malifaux strategy wiki. It'll have some decent info for you on Seamus, and you can use it to look up your other models as well.
