  1. Hello, I swear there is a rule (or ruling) that somewhere that says if you are immune to a condition you cannot take an action that condition as a cost of that action. Example: Made Up Action: Gain the Poison +2 condition to gain Focused +1. If model X is immune to Poison it cannot take this action because it cannot satisfy the requirements. I'm pretty sure this was stated, but I cannot find it anywhere. Can someone point me to this rule?
  2. At this point unless it if FAQ'd I'm going to play it as Shenlong takes the damage, removes the condition, then reduces the damage to 0 due to his immunity. The best I can tell that is both RAW and RAI. I'm still not 100% sure, but I'll settle for this for now. Thanks for everyone's input.
  3. Looks good, can't wait to get it, but I'm not looking forward to hiding the seems where the prices fit together with all those scales.
  4. Vasilisa can apply another condition (Sewn Feet) that is removed "...by suffering 3 damage..." If I understand correctly your position no model with armor can remove the Sewn Feet condition since they would reduce the damage to 2 or less. They would not be marking 3 points of damage off their card and would not satisfy the suffer 3 damage requirement to remove the condition. Sewn Feet: After succeeding, the target gains the following Condition for the rest of the game: "Sewn Feet: This model may not take Walk Actions. This model may end this Condition by suffering 3 damage at the start of its Activation." That does not seem correct to me and seems counter to how suffering damage works. I'm confident this is how taking damage works in Malifaux. 1. Suffer Damage. (e.g. Suffer 3 damage and remove Sewn Feet.) 2. Reduce and/or prevent damage (e.g. Armor +1 reduces damage to 2; flipping a 12 for SS damage prevention reduces damage to 0; Immunity to damage from conditions reduces damage to 0; etc.) 3. Remove wounds equal to remaining damage. I'm confident that IF Shenlong can suffer the 3 damage at the start of his activation he will take no damage due to being "...immune to damage caused by conditions..." and Sewn Feet will be removed. I'm just not sure if he has the option to remove the condition because of this phrase (Immunity pg 39 Big Book) "A model immune to a Condition can never receive the Condition." My understanding is if an Action A says Model X must receive Condition Y for Z to happen then Model X cannot perform Action A if they are immune to Condition Y since they cannot receive the Condition Y they cannot satisfy the price of the Action A. Since Shenlong is immune to "damage caused by conditions" does that prevent him from being able to satisfy the price of removing Sewn Feet? I think Shenlong has the option to remove the condition and will suffer no damage if he does so. Shenlong is "...immune to damage caused by conditions...", so is immune to damage not to a condition and the immunity rule I quoted above only applies to Conditions, so does not apply to suffering damage. I've searched the Rulebook, FAQ and forums and not found anything saying you are prevented from doing something if the price is taking damage and you will not or do not suffer the damage. I found this Move or Burn thread, where Freikorps gain the benefit of Move or Burn, but do not pay the price due to immunity to damage from . That is not very convincing since Mover or Burn says "Do X and Y", instead of "Do X to Y", but is the closest item I found. Even though I'm asking the question I'm confident in my answer and if TOing a tournament I would rule this way, but I'm playing devil's advocate because I'm a henchman I do TO tournaments and I play TT, so I want to do my due diligence and make sure I'm not letting my personal interests color my judgement.
  5. So if a model removes the condition and prevents the damage to 0 (e.g. with soul stones) then the condition is not removed?
  6. I'm inclined to agree with Solkan. (1) This seems correct to me, though I'm still no 100% convinced the it is supported by RAW, I'm also not convinced it is refuted by RAW. (2) Some abilities (e.g. Save Face) include text that says damage cannot be reduced (and/or prevented). It seems like those that do not say damage cannot be reduces or prevented can have their damage reduce or prevented. I do recognize Immunity is somewhat different than damage reduction/prevention. (3) I've seen many answers in this forums by solkan and they are always quality responses backed up by cited rules. Kudo's solkan for you many quality responses in this forum, your effort is appreciated. Save Face: Friendly models within a8 who fail a Horror Duel may suffer 1 damage to count as succeeding on the Horror Duel instead. This damage cannot be reduced. Here is another situation. Master (or Henchman) X has the Sewn Lips condition. They elected to take the damage at the start of their activation and stone for damage prevention. They flipped and reduced the damage to 0. Would the Sewn Lips condition still be removed, or would it stay because they suffered 0 damage? I would think the condition is still removed. If so, is it different than immunity causing Shenlong to take 0 damage?
  7. If Vasilisa puts the Sewn Lips condition on Shenlong what happens when Shenlong (who's Flow Like Water makes him immune to damage caused by conditions) tries to remove it at the beginning of his activation? 1) Shenlong is immune to damage caused by conditions so he removes Sewn Lips and suffers no damage. Sewn lips does not say take 1 damage to end this condition. I think the condition ends and deals 1 damage to Shenlong which he does not take because of his immunity, but I'm not incredibly confident of this answer, but being a TT player I might just be seeing the way I want to see it. 2) Shenlong is not able to remove the condition by taking a point of damage. If you interpret it as Shenlong must take 1 damage to remove the condition, but he is immune to the damage so he cannot take the damage, so the condition cannot be removed. Sewn Lips: After succeeding, the target gains the following Condition for the rest of the game: "Sewn Lips: This model may not take Tactical Actions other than Walk. This model may end this Condition by suffering 1 damage at the start of its Activation." Flow Like Water: This model is immune to damage caused by Conditions, and may choose not to lower the value of (or end) the Focused, Poison, and Burning Conditions during the Upkeep Step.
  8. I don't agree that the TT archers are not worth taking. I run 1-2 ranged units in nearly every list. If there is a lot of close blocking terrain I take 1-2 archers, if there is a lot of wide open fire lanes I take 1-2 Snipers. I'd say half the games at best these models kill thier points worth, but what both do for me is board control. Neither do an incredible amount of damage, but it is enough damage that most opponents cannot ignore it. The archers are also good at clean up. An enemy on it last could of wounds after you charged it. TT Archers don't care if it's engaged, and out of LOS finish it off. In the right situation they are fantastic. I've killed a lot of models with Blot the Sky on Sensei Yu. Two archers with a 12" no-LOS Sh7 attack with +++/+++, and double blast on sever damage, is formidable. It is also fragile and cost a lot of points. Not good for all situations. If you opponent can just avoid that bubble its a huge wast of points, but if you're controlling a key part of the board like the center in Turf War it can still be worth it. There are some very good counters for the archers (Raptors, Lilith's Tangled Shadows, Austringers) but at least in my group I don't face any of those models too often. You have to be careful when and how you use archers, but in the right place at the right time. Awesome.
  9. Malifaux is a game of rock-paper-scissors, what works is going to depend a lot on what your opponent has. Sounds like your opponent has the answer to the Archers. If your opponent(s) regularly run those birds sounds like you have a lot of trouble getting your points out of those archers. It if were me I wouldn't run them. If you want some good range run a couple of snipers. Those birds won't stand a chance in close with them.

  12. My absolute favorite model with McCabe is the Dawn Serpent for obvious reasons. Next is the Wandering River Monk if the scheme pool is right. Wandering River Monk - You can Leap, place a scheme marker, walk (Nimble) and place a scheme marker. Reactivate and repeat, to place 4 scheme markers with one model in one turn. Nasty surprise on turn 5. With the 4" push from McCabe transferring BoS and Reactivate this model could move 38" and Deliver a Message: (4" (push) +7" (Leap) +15" (3x5" Walk with Nible), Reactivate +7" (Leap) +5 (Walk from Nimble)) and Deliver a Message (last two actions). Two of those moves are 7" and ignore intervening models and terrain.
  13. When I'm TO, I would allow any appropriate model for any model there is no general release (e.g. not just a black Friday pre-release) for. For me an appropriate model is on the correct base size and would not confuse your opponent. For the shadow emissary I'd allow any dragon that didn't represent another Malifaux model (e.g. I'd reject a Dawn Serpent) unless it is a conversion. But you'd have to check with your TO for a specific event.
  14. Can anyone come up with a TT list with at least one model from each faction (e.g. Illuminated count as Neverborn, Ama counts as Outcasts, etc...) that they consider "good" in a general way (e.g. could do a decent job with most strat/scheme pools)?
  15. Along similar lines one of our local players will answer questions honestly, but will not volunteer any additional information. Here are a couple of examples. Example 1 Q) What is the walk on the model? (I think they asked how far can that model move, but I don't remember for sure so I'm giving the benefit of the doubt.) A) His walk is 5. Does not mention that the model also has Leap, and an upgrade that can be discarded for Fast. Example 2 The opponent targets their model with an attack. They go through the duel as normal, the opponent cheats in a card to make sure the attack hits. Once the duel is finished they tell their opponent they are immune to the effect of the attack. I know they were aware of the immunity before the opponent declared the attack. I consider this very poor sportsmanship. Am I being too harsh, or is this how the game is typically played or should be played? Is it different in a tournament vs. casual play?
  16. I usually just say <Model X> is declaring <Attack Name> on <Model Y> its resisted by <Stat>. If they have any questions I answer them or give them the card to read over. If its a newer player or something they would obviously want to know I'll usually spell that out as well. E.g. "This is a Ca action so it will not be reduced by your Incorporeal."
  17. That's what I thought. Thanks for the confirmation everyone.
  18. Malifaux M2E Tournament Ascendancy Saturday, January 23rd 2016 @ PFC Games CANCELLED! Sorry I have a family emergency and will be out of town for the weekend.
  19. Sorry for ressing an old post, but I haven't found any other discussion on this. How have people been playing this? I agree with vonevilstein, they are placed according the blast markers as normal.
  20. Yes. My question was do you have to reveal it once it is accomplished? I say no. You either reveal it at the start of the game when schemes are revealed OR at the end of the game so your opponent doesn't know you have (or have not) selected it until the game is over. Assassinate says you must reveal it when the you complete the scheme. Murder Protege doesn't say that so I assume you can keep it secret even if you have fulfilled it.
  21. This came up a recent tournament. Once you achieve the objective are you required to reveal it right away? Assassinate says you must reveal it when it is acheived, but it also rewards more VPs depending on the turn. Murder Protege doesn't do either, so I ruled it didn't need to be revealed until the end of the game.
  22. Yes. I don't remember who said it, but when playing any game we need to remember "It is a game, not a simulation of reality". That really put all the odd things into perspective for me.
