  1. Yes, I edited my last post. However I still think she makes the attack before being moved to wherever. This is hard to accurately show on a tabletop since you can't "delete" all the terrain for 1 action, but RAW that's how it reads, since the charge and the terrain ignoring are the same action - for what it's worth. This is actually more beneficial for the Misaki player because you can do shenanigans like attacking someone on a Ht 6 roof from the shadow of the building, provided they are within your 2" melee range.
  2. She completely ignores terrain. So yes. She just can't end in a wall. The Ht thing is interesting though. She ignores terrain, but her opponent doesn't right? So the opponent would still be Ht 10 billion. The question then is, when she's done ignoring terrain does she get placed on top of it? I'd say no, because she ignores the terrain and makes the attack in the same action. The wording is, "This model Charges an enemy model ignoring LoS, terrain and intervening models..." So she doesn't need to see the enemy (ironically, her not seeing the enemy is impossible in this situation, since she is ignoring terrain; save for obscuring effects), but she does still need to be in melee range. Last I checked 10 billion inches > 2 inches. So she would fail. Edit: Oh no, Malifaux just exploded. So I thought this through a bit more and in the terrain section it says you add the terrain's Ht to your Ht. If Misaki is ignoring terrain, the 10 billion Ht terrain would be Ht 0 to her. So her opponent would be its natural Ht and she would be able to hit it in this situation. After the attack I have no clue what would happen. At that point she stops ignoring terrain, so I'd be inclined to agree completely with dgraz's statement.
  3. Would anyone be down for a Malifaux March Madness tournament? It would take place over the next two to three weeks. To stay true to March Madness I'd think a format such as: Fixed master Fixed roster - 50ss worth (can't really limit to 15 models very elegantly in Malifaux) If we get at least 8 people we can bracket it out, play one game a week - single elimination but we could have a loser's bracket if people would like, unlike the Big Dance (or we could stay true to form and play a one-and-done format).
  4. Because in V1 obey was a lot more powerful. It could be used multiple times per turn and it could also be used on masters (I believe). To balance it they restricted it to only non-masters and only once per turn.
  5. This man speaketh the truth. You get to use your 1 AP immediately regardless of what is causing you to die. Period, there's no stipulation of "only XYZ Phase" it simply states when you reach 0 Hp you get a 1 action to resolve before dying. @Clevelander: There's not a lot of instances of models taking activation outside of activation phases but there's lots of examples of model's talents taking effect: Arcane Resevoir (sp?), Rush of Magic, Oiran's Eavsedropper all activate during the draw phase. I believe Cassandra's free 6" walk activates at the beginning of the encounter, definitely outside of the activations phase.
  6. I assume this also covers impassable terrain? Since it's also a type of terrain? Very nice to clarify on this, one of my opponents didn't dive through impassable because it was vague to both of us.
  7. I've played against it, it's quite effective but not suited for every strategy and situation. There's no intrinsic burning token synergy either so it takes a bit for the golem to warm up. A rail golem with few burning tokens is far less deadly.
  8. I'd recommend Kaeris and then perhaps Mei Feng, the two go super well together. Kaeris' whole box is good, especially the gunsmiths while Rasputina's crew is seen as a bit underpowered by many. Her box set is for sure Imho.
  9. All V2 cards state it can only be used once per activation. You can look it up on the Malifaux download page. Likely for balance issues.
  10. On V2 cards they all state obey can only be used once per activation.
  11. Dunno, I think it could be argued both ways. Hopefully we'll hear from a Marshall but not holding my breath. I tend to agree with Godlyness' interpretation more though.

    Mei Feng Crew

One word: Kang. Kang + Johan has to be one of the sickest combos in existence. With it Johan can get Cb 8 on his hammer and Cb 7 on his gun. Nothing in the game can beat Cb 8 naturally (best is a tie). He also gets Cb 7 on his range 10 gun, which is often overlooked. Nothing will survive a Cb 8 3/4/6 Flurry without Using Soulstones or getting incredibly lucky on flips/cheats. Edit: About the student, he would definitely have use if you can make room for him. Mei + Kaeris and Student I'd have the Student fast Mei. She can already semi-consistently take 5 (1) actions a turn with 2 General AP and 1 casting expert, with 3 she will be getting 6 (1) actions a turn quite frequently.
  13. I think this comes to taste too. I'd like a display of a crew or two fighting each other in a thematic background more than a horde of models. This isn't to say a unified army doesn't look impressive, but desk space and personal taste don't allow for me to have such a display. Your last point does have me thinking though - defining value for a mini is going to be different to everyone. Some value them more for their looks, in which case who cares if you have 27 identical models? Others value them for power on the table. Many fall somewhere inbetween on that spectrum.
  14. I agree with you completely. There are only rare occasions that you'd want to use it on 'Dita (1 on 1 master matchups being one, if a Misaki player is intent at "Coming at you" for instance). The threat still does a lot to the opponent's psyche I've seen because sometimes (not all the times) they just assume you're going to use it on her. I've just had lots of success with the matchup - either by Sidir being insta-focused which frees up Perdita, Nino, and co to go all trigger happy on other things or by Sidir taking hits for Dita, providing defense for the brothers, etc. Sometimes he even gets to use his gun (which is great)! Again, a playstyle/meta thing I guess.
  15. This. Moreso than any other game I've played your personal style should be followed (with few exceptions of obviously underpowered units). One thing I would throw in: Consider Sidir if your LGS allows proxying. Sidir and Perdita are beastly together and just the prospect of giving 'Dita 10 Df is terrifying. Not to mention he can use camouflage to screen some of your other models. Though he is expensive. If it was me I would have at least 1 or 2 melee-centric minions in there to balance the list. A Witchling stalker like has been mentioned before or even a couple of Guild Guards (only average in melee but they bring a lot of utility with Cordon).
  16. Is it just me or has anyone else started calling soulstones invincibility stars...? Darn Von Schill...
  17. I think this is a good point. People (at least I) like Von Schill because he's a consistent model. You know what he can do and he's versatile. I completely agree that he doesn't fit and shouldn't be included in some lists, especially at 10ss. The thing with Von Schill I've noticed is that when you include him you have to build around him (again, my experience). If I take him to "enhance" another master I find the lack of soul stones vexing. If instead I take him and consider the master the 10ss henchmen and build around that then I generally succeed. Von Schill with 8ss is nearly impossible to kill, especially if he's holding the black joker in his hand. The one time he has died in such a situation (well the one time he's ever died in 30 games...actually) it cost my opponent the game - three turns of pure focus on Von Schill. Denied me 2 VPs but let me finish my whole strategy while the opponent neglected theirs. I'm not sure why Ressers seem more prone to take Schill than other factions, but I've liked him in every Resser list I've seen so far. I've never really had the urge to play Yan Lo (though that Hunpo Assault thread almost convinced me to try him out) but that list above really piques my interest. Von Schill + Izamu + Yan Lo? Crazy, just crazy! Yan Lo and Von Schill are versatile enough that they can do pretty much anything and Izamu...well...he's Izamu.
  18. See page 44 of the rules manual. It answers your main question. Fixed damage question: "A model cannot use a Talent or cast a Spell that requires it to inflict Wd on itself if it would reduce its own Wounds to 0." This is regardless of if it could survive being reduced to 0 wounds (Slow to Die, etc).
  19. The whole "Malifaux is cheaper" argument comes from the fact that this is a skirmish game and you need much fewer models to play. You can start playing competitive tournament games with a starter box and a blister or two - a total of $50-$75; cheaper if you go all online retail. If you really just wanted a crew you could get a crew together for about $30 (Nico's starter box is $15 right now on Amazon). I have never seen that argument made in a model to model basis, with the exception of hero type models. Compare the price of a master to a WH commander. Of course you get more models for WH, it's an army scale game, it also has an initial barrier of at least $100 to play - and that's not even anywhere near competitively.
  20. Traumatized from too many Clockwork Seeker bullets thrown your way? Or maybe he popped one too many magical invincibility stars Soulstones? That list is extremely hard to kill.
  21. And that's a whole faction. That's what, one diverse army in GW land? Maybe 2 if you don't expand their options much.
  22. This also brings up an interesting question. Is there such a thing as a "Pulse attack?" If this was a pulse, that generated a ranged strike it would be clear or, as Dracomax suggests, if it had clear wording that it couldn't be ignored. As it stands it is a duel, that does damage, that is generated by a pulse. How is this effectively different than a damaging pulse that doesn't require a duel? Strictly speaking this is worse than a no-duel pulse. In which case I'd still be inclined to say this gets ignored because the damage is still generated by a pulse. My head hurts.
  23. I don't think so. That's like saying that models with immunity to terrifying have to take the Wp -> 12 duel or fallback. That's a pulse that deals damage with a condition. The reason Detonate Tanks can't be ignored is because it explicitly states that you make a Strike against each model. It's not a Cb -> Df pulse that also inflicts a damage flip's worth of damage. As always, I am open to the possibility of being wrong - but that's not how I'd interpret that. Edit: After re-reading, it's a TN Duel - so I may well be wrong. So I'll admit that I'm not sure on this one!
  24. To make it clear here is the exact text of what Freikorps Armor does: "This model may ignore damage from pulse, aura, and blast effects." If the pulse, aura, or blast is what is causing damage you ignore it. If it does anything else, wounds, buff, debuff, etc you don't ignore it. As for the Mechanical Dove, I too don't have its card but I've played the a few times. I'm quite positive it's a damaging pulse - which Freikorps ignore.
