  1. I'd assume hitting is implied since you do it before your damage flip. If you miss then there is no damage flip, thus nothing to flip before.
  2. Interesting stuff, especially since I was looking at a budget approach on expanding into the guild a few weeks ago. About the only suggestion I'd make is to swap the Student of conflict in the Alt-Vik list for a Convict Gunslinger. Gives the crew some ranged threat, and is an amazing model to pick up since it can be run in several crews.
  3. I can see the benefit of this. Mainly gets around the guild being slow by either using hounds to cover ground quickly, or the handler to better coordinate witchlings.
  4. The term budget is used lightly, but just something I noticed when browsing the guild range. Guild has some of the most well-rounded starter boxes in the entire range, and I mean well-rounded as a faction not on a per master basis. This is mainly because the minions provided in each box are all staple guild models. So with that information, I'm fairly certain it'd be possible to build a fairly deep and versatile faction pool on just the three book 1 starter boxes and three blisters. My question is what would be the three best blisters to accomplish this with. Currently I'm thinking Austring, Executioner, and Witchling Handler but I'm not overly familiar with the faction. Edit-Probably the best way to do it
  5. I'm at Gamezilla every Thursday from 6pm (sometimes earlier) to close with my demo crews. 1211 Prospect Street Shoot me a PM if you'd like to setup an earlier time, or another day.
  6. I'll throw in my Viks and Freikorps. Only got Ressers to play against though.
  7. They're working on my end, but I've edited in direct links to the images for people having problems.
  8. If it was what you were thinking I would have included a NSFW tag Painted this up as a break from my Blood Bowl team. Decided to give it a separate thread since I don't have a crew to run it in yet...... Okay, I made a separate thread just for the title. Finally got a system figured out for washing white, which is basically thin the hell out of it. Also between this model and another model I've determined that I hate my pot of scorpion green since it is a complete pain to paint with. Will be working on the Red Chapel gang as soon as I finish my Blood Bowl team, then back to finishing my outcasts. Edit-direct links for people having troubles with the thumbnails http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f280/kane241/Minis/103_2412.jpg http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f280/kane241/Minis/103_2413.jpg http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f280/kane241/Minis/103_2414.jpg
  9. Yeah probably what happened. Got better results when I thinned it a bit when painting my Gutter Runner.
  10. Oh Taelor, now I remember why I named the thread this way. The new GW black wash for more intense than I expected, or maybe I applied to much, so ended up with a grey top instead of a white top. The brass is all kinds of awesome, and I like the expanded flesh tones. Still got a few things to touch up, mainly around the face. The eyes were very uncooperative. At least by trying to imitate post-event eyes I can cover mistakes easier. Need to gloss-coat the gems once I seal everything else.
  11. When in doubt, mindless zombies. Would probably work well as Desperate Mercs too.
  12. Ultra Pro or Dragon Shield are both good sleeves. Fairly certain Ultra Pro does have some side load sleeves.
  13. Tough call really. About the only thing you want to fix is the boxes lack of a dedicated melee monster. Taelor, Johan, and Misaki can all fill this role easily at the cost of dropping a basic grunt or two. The downside to this though is that you'll have a model which will take collateral damage when the specialist fires into melee, but you can always drop the specialist to take a melee character. There is also the option of going with a convict gunslinger instead of the trapper. He's less durable and has a little harder time positioning, but can put out more damage and a bit of board control.
  14. So Stubborn works with resist duels since the model is still considered a defender for the simple duel? Just wondering since it doesn't work for simple duels like Terror.
  15. Don't take my opinions with a great deal of weight since I know next to nothing about ressers other than theory and playing against Kirai and Mcmourning. To me, Seamus's weakness comes from being a weak summoner in a faction known for summoning. Given a crew of generic good-stuff Resser models he doesn't really bring anything that another resser master couldn't do better. For a combat master I feel Mcmourning does it better, and both Nico and Kirai have better summoning options.
  16. They are more than mortal. They are steel, and they are doom. They are the champions of mankind. And the greatest of them all... are the Ultrama--- Freikorps. Turned out a little more Crimson Fist than Ultramarine, but I like the look of Mordian Blue. Even got everyone in codex approved color schemes. Librarian has all blue paint scheme, Trapper and Specialist have veteran status, and Schill has gold trim since I couldn't give him a red sergeant helmet. Specialist was also another test subject for weathering pigment which turned out pretty good after a couple of tries. Next up are Taelor and the Ronin.
  17. Not a fan of the cck myself, both from a rules and model perspective. Pretty much leaves me with Grave spirit and Necrotic Machine for totems. Mostly adding in a totem since I hate seeing wasted stones. For building a crew its an issue, but for just showing how a game is played I don't think its that big of a problem. Also looking like Seamus versus Von Schill isn't that bad of a match compared to the standard Seamus versus Lady J demo. Replace Armor with Hard to Wound, Stubborn with Fear not Death, and general durability with better offensive capabilities. It's still a match that is definitely stacked against Seamus.
  18. I'm aware of the awesomeness that is the freikorp on ressers..... except my specialist never seems to hit anything. Demo crews are looking something like this. Ressurectionists Crew - 25 - Scrap Seamus, The Mad-Hatter -- 8 Pool Grave Spirit [1ss] Madame Sybelle [6ss] Rotten Belles [4ss] Rotten Belles [4ss] Rotten Belles [4ss] Not a guarantee on grave spirit for the totem, just put it into the crew creator to make the list. May use a 2 stone totem instead or possibly the avatar. Outcasts Crew - 25 - Scrap Von Schill -- 3 Pool Freikorpmann [4ss] Freikorpmann [4ss] Freikorps Librarian [7ss] Freikorps Specialist [5ss] Freikorps Trapper [6ss]
  19. It happens, humble pie tastes great. Most defensive triggers do seem to indicate that the only work when you succeed or fail a duel, so its an easy mistake to make.
  20. After I finish off my Viktoria crew I'm looking at taking a detour into Seamus before continuing on with the Outcasts. Mostly looking at getting Seamus for two reasons. The first is that I want to use him and Von Schill for demo game purposes, and the second is that he has totally awesome fluff. For demo purposes I'm looking at a bare-bones 25ss crews for both sides. Von Schill using only his box, and Seamus with his box and a totem of some variety. I know both these crews are fairly straight forward to play, but I'm wondering if Von Schill has a little too much of an edge. Hard-Ass, Stubborn, and Freikorp armor makes it a bit of an up hill battle, but Seamus will have double the SS pool. Then again I can always play Seamus in the demo games unless the person I'm showing really wants to try him. From their the only thing I have planned after that is Molly's box for fluff and for use when I get around to Levi. I know Night Terrors have a place in almost any Resser crew, and I'll already have most of the mercenaries. Dead Doxies are about the only other models I've considered mostly because I've heard Seamus can summon them (haven't gotten a look at book 3 yet). So what else should I look at for rounding out the Red Chapel gang?
  21. For the purpose of teaching the game I'd say go with Von Schill. His box is pretty straight forward to play, especially if coming from a GW background. Schill is the center piece to your crew, and each Freikorps man is designed to cover a different task. Levi however is probably the better box for expanding your own collection. Levi still has a bit of the problem with resser vs resser since Levi also uses corpse counters, and he is a fairly complex model to play. Still, you'd likely still be able to teach your friend how to play if you were to play Levi and he was to play one of your resser crews. At the end of the day though it'll likely end up something like this. If you go with the Von Schill box you'll probably only ever use Von Schill in a resser crew due to his mobility. If you go with Levi you get another master to play with who can use pretty much all the resser minions you own, and hire Molly as a henchman.
  22. More Von Schill pics now that I have him based properly. Should have the entire Freikorps up tomorrow.
  23. Yeah I meant as a mercenary henchman. When hired with the viks there are no problems. It just gets a little confusing differentiating between Mercenary minions and minions hired as mercenaries.
  24. If I've learned anything from playing magic its that reading cards is tech. Solid episode, and makes me want to pick up Molly when I get around to doing Seamus.
  25. Small error with Von Schill. If he's leading a crew he can hire Freikorps and Mercenaries. Gives him the deepest model pool out of the Henchmen, even though you'll probably never use most of them. Mostly just lets you take Jhohan/Misaki/Taelor so you have a good melee minion while he stays leader.
